Hi Again,

Just another question for people here on the Disboards.

My 9 1/2 DD and I are going on a trip to WDW in the beginning of May this year :cool1:.

When she was 3 we did the castle Package at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique with her and promised her that when she was 6 we would do it again.

Well that never materialized, and now we are going again just her and me.

My wife thinks she is too old to go to the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, and I of course disagree. When I told my wife that my daughter is dying to go and do it, she believes I could talk my daughter out of wanting to go.

I was wondering what your opinion on this was.

Thanks in advance

Nathan

Many girls will be younger, but there are plenty of girls your daughter's age (or older) who love the BBB. She will only be a little girl for so long. If this is something she wants to do, I see no reason to dissuade her. It will likely be a treasured memory for her, especially since she will be old enough to clearly remember the entire experience.

You could talk her out of wanting to go, sure. Why would you want to? Is it a cost thing? Or just the age? If she wants to do it and that's that, then go do it. How long is she going to be your little princess. She may not believe in faeries as much, but what girl doesn't like to get their hair done up nice and be treated like a queen especially at WDW.

If they let adults do it, I would be the first to sign up! If she is into it, go for it. I don't think they carry dresses that large so you may want to bring your own (but I could be wrong).

My niece was 9 1/2 when I took her to WDW and she did BBB - just hair, nails, makeup. She elected to be the Diva Princess and had a ball with it. She wanted to put the head piece on again another day but her mom couldnt get it looking the same so she didnt. Not too young at all in my book but she may not choose the classic look at that age

Just throwing out another suggestion - what about doing the mermaid package at Pirate's League. They do allow adults there and I've seen plenty of teen/tween girls in there the 2 times we have done it with our boys.

Is there a reason your wife doesn't want her to go? Is it maybe the cost? If it isn't money related I wouldn't talk her out of it as they grow up so quickly now a days. I would treasure these short princess years.:lovestruc Of course, I'm planning on doing BBB until my DD ages out or doesn't want to anymore. But, after 4 boys into scifi and camping and all sorts of things that stretched my comfort zone, I am really treasuring these princess moments. :goodvibes

But if it is the money then I would sit down and explain and then maybe you could get her a princess dress on sale and let her put on some make up for a special day at WDW.:)

I would say the only thing that matters is whether your DD thinks she is too old for it. If she wants to do it, then you should go for it. She is almost too old to do it, so this will probably be her last chance and I would certainly let her do it if she wants. My DD is getting ready to turn 9 and she has done BBB a few times. The last time she did it was at age 7. At age 8, she did not want to do BBB. She did do Studio 365 at DL (it is no longer there as it was replaced with a Frozen boutique, but it was a salon that did hair/makeup/nails like BBB, but with more hairstyles and sold Disney channel tween style clothes and even had some displays of clothes the stars wore in the show) and loved it. The funny thing is even though it was a tween store and she did not want to do BBB, is that she wanted to wear her Anna dress to get her hair done at 365 and for her Princess meal after- so clearly she did still like the Princess styling. Your DD might be one of the oldest girls there. When DD was 7 at BBB, she was the oldest in the salon at that time. The been there when DD was younger, we have seen one or 2 girls who looked to be 8 or 9 in there, so there could be others her age. It is all just a matter of luck as to what other girls will be around her. If she is enjoying herself, who cares if she is the oldest in there at the time!

My dd did it last trip at age 11. We didn't even second guess it. If she wants to do it, why not?

My 8 1/2 DD just had it done and will likely continue for awhile. I have sent he older girl get the diva one day which be pretty cool until I would think 12 but like PP said, it depends upon the child.

If they let adults do it, I would be the first to sign up! If she is into it, go for it. I don't think they carry dresses that large so you may want to bring your own (but I could be wrong).

If a child is a normal size at age 9/10, most dresses come in those sizes.

My 9 1/2 year old (now 10) did BBB in June and loved it! She got an Elsa dress and walked around feeling like a princess. I think like anything else its subjective, but regardless of if it's an older or younger girl if that's what they're into it will be beyond a memorable experience :)

My DD will be 9 1/2 for our March trip and did BBB at age 6. She would want to do it again for this upcoming trip she said with her hair and nails, and makeup. But she doesn't want to dress up in princess dresses. If your dd wants to do it, I would say go for it, it may be the last time she does want to. I would ask her about the dress thing and bring her either a princess dress or a 'fancy' regular dress if she would prefer. Whatever makes her feel dressed up:) I'm getting sad that my DD doesn't want to do any princess meet and greets, when for so many years, they have been the highlight of her trips. Hold on to the 'little girl' fun things as long as you can:goodvibes

OP, what's the big fizz? If she wants to do it, then do it. Trust me, she's on the verge of so many changes. Enjoy this while you can.

Besides, don't you owe her one from age 6? ;)

If that little PRINCESS wants to be a PRINCESS I say so be it. Myself and my 2 DD are going next month. My oldest daughter will be celebrating her 10th birthday on this trip and doing the BBB. It was a no brainer for her. She absolutley loves to do it. I know for a fact that the dress size goes to at least at 14. She did it just this past July. I was worried about the size because they used to stop at a size 12.

I hope you daughter has a wonderful time at the BBB!!!!

Of course this is our first time going, but my daughter is the same age and I she is so excited about doing this. I think it is great.

I took my oldest on her 10th birthday.

I think we think our kids are growing up too fast and then when they want to do something like this, jump to a conclusion that they are too old.

If she is would like to do it, she is young enough! TAKE HER!
princess:

Do they still do the courtyard package? That might be a little less princessy with t-shirt and tutu?

If a child is a normal size at age 9/10, most dresses come in those sizes.

Dresses go up to XL 14-16 at the world...bought my dd one on our last trip.....fyi we took 12 gowns with us because she wanted to wear all her gowns to meet princesses.....riding the princess train as long as she wants to !!
