Hi everyone

We are sailing in the Med on the Magic this August and my DD is hoping to go to the BBB.

She will be 11 at time of sailing but is worried the costumes may not fit her. She is a little self conscious of her size and scared they will have to tell her she is too big.

I'd quite like to get an idea on if they are likely to before we go so I can set her expectations and not see her upset.

Does anyone have experience with the costume sizes at all?

Thank you

Andrea

My daughter did BBB last Oct (she was 10 and 1/2). She is tall and wore a size 12 slim in pants. She went into it wanting to do the mermaid make over and the top for the 14 fit her, but the bottoms were huge. The bottoms from the 12's fit, but the top was too small. So she ended up just getting her hair and make up done. They say the dresses go up to a 14, but DD was done trying stuff on after the swim suit bit. They do have a dressing room to try on, but might have a back up plan just in case. Maybe look on etsy for someone to make a costume for her?

This is just general, so take it with a grain of salt....I haven't found anything from Disney for girls larger than a size 14. My daughter is also 11 and we are now shopping in the juniors section of any store we go to (except Justice), so if we want Disney T's, it's women's Small for us. So while I don't know if BBB would have larger sizes, my guess is probably not.
The one BBB we did was at WDW several years ago - she was 7 - and we were in the largest Ariel dress they had at the time, at a size 10.

(And we are shopping in the Juniors section with a kid that isn't the skinniest but not large, either.)

Hope that helps at least a little! And Good luck!!

If not, there are lots of costumes that are even prettier than the ones they have at BBB. My daughter is also a 10 1/2 year old that has probably outgrown the sizes available in BBB. I showed her the options we had to buy dresses online and she was sold, especially since she LOVES the pink dress that Ariel wears. We bought one off of ebay and she will just be getting her hair, nails, and makeup done at BBB.

Here is a picture of the one we ordered, mind you it had JUST come out of the box in this picture, so it was pretty wrinkled. lol

Thank you so much for your responses. I think I will take advice and bring an outfit with us. She will love getting her hair and the rest of it done and the money I save on not doing the full package will pay for her to get made up for pirate night too.

I just thought - I saw at Justice yesterday some swim skirts/cover ups that were very mermaid like. They have a nice mermaid theme going on there - which has my daughter drooling. I saw them in store yesterday, but not finding what I was looking at online unfortunately.

Thanks,
Aerin
