Hi there we are on the countdown to our first trip to Disneyland in September!! We are getting very excited now and just booking all the last minute things.

My daughter is 5 and loves anything girly. I'm looking at booking the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique for her and looking at the different packages. For anyone who has done this is it worth paying for the Castle Package or would the Courtyard package where shed get a shirt and skirt be more beneficial? Any advice/opinions would be great.

Hi there, we haven't been YET but we are heading off mid Sept :) I just rang the other day to book in my two daughters who are 8 & 5 for the Crown package (the package that does their nails). We already have Elsa & Anna dresses so I figure we will just take those with us to wear & as it's not supposed to be a totally busy time we will just line up to meet the Princesses rather than paying for the big package - I just can't justify the cost when I have the two girls...

It's all very exciting - we talk about going everyday!!

Hi we did bibbidi bobbidi boutique last year with our then 3 year old and we did the castle package! It's totally amazing! Well worth it, a beautiful gown hair makeup tiara shoes wand nail polish to take home and some face gems, pictures in cindarellas carriage and the best part front of line meet and greet with princesses in fantasy faire. It is the cutest thing and really saves time doing it this way. Well worth the $185 including tax.

Thanks so much for the responses. I've decided to go ahead and book the castle package. We won't be back anytime soon and I know my little one will love it. She's already talking about which costume she will pick. :)

We did this at the HK Disneyland Hotel when my daughter was about 4 years old. Its one of the best things we have ever done, she looked beautiful (more beautiful!!) after she was transformed into a princess, and the photos and photo book we got we will treasure forever - enjoy!

Oh good I'm glad I booked it now. One more question regarding the World of Color Dining packages? Anyone experienced any of the restuarants? Is it worth paying the $$$ to get a good view of the show? Which restuarant did u prefer?

I assume you know that there are no reserved seats for WoC and that the dining package will provide you with a ticket for a particular coloured section in the viewing area?

Hydroguy has a superthread on the WoC. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2443719
I would also recommend that you google Tom Bricker World of Colour. He might focus on photography but his blog post does include where he recommends going to get a spot for the show. I would provide you with the link but the Dis has blocked his website.

I've booked in for one of the picnic trays in the early days just to secure a blue section ticket. Its the section that everyone seems to want as the perception is that it is directly in the main triangle for viewing the projections. You still have to get there early so that you end up with a decent standing spot.

However, I have seen it from the yellow section and depending on where you stand, the views are also as good.

These days, I do tend to head for the Fast Pass machine and pull a ticket. It really is up to the whim of the machines as to what section you get and what colour.
I usually try to get a place in front of a rail so that I don't have anyone in front of me. But that still doesn't guarantee that a parent will not raise their kid up on their shoulders and partially blocking your view.

Having said that. If you want to be guaranteed of a VIP section ticket, then the dining package might be the way to go. Be aware that the value of this package is in the dining first; and then the ticket. Getting a FP ticket still does not guarantee you of a good position to view the projections. You will still have to queue to find your standing room spot and hope no one tall is in front of you.

Does anyone know if you can get a hairstyle where they don't pull all of the hair back off the face? Can we get something parted on the side with the hair pulled back? I know I am being ultra picky, but I just hate hair slicked off the face!

They have a beautiful braid hairstyle for Elsa that they do in downtown disney in the store there, studio disney 365. They also used to have a Sophia the first package with a lovely little hairstyle but you had to be Sophia and not one of the other princesses. The hairstyle for Sophia is much softer and not as harsh. I'm not sure if they still have this package but they had it Late last year.

Oh and in regards to the WOC package, I wouldn't bother and I'd just get a fast pass and get to the line earlier than they say and wait around. If you want to eat at one of the restaurants then by all means do the package but I saw it was of no great advantage.

Thanks for that. One more question and this is for anyone that has travelled to Las Vegas with kids. It's hubby's bday when we are there and I was thinking of booking an early dinner and show for all of us to go to. Has anyone seen any of the Cirque Du Soleil shows? Any that are more suited to kids. Also any other activities that you can suggest that your kids enjoyed would be great.

We saw two:

Mystere @ Treasure Island - Wonderful show. It's very classic Cirque du Soleil with the acrobatics and the ***? confused looks during some of the more abstract moments. The Superseded Model (daughter #1, who was 4.5 at the time) liked it, but wasn't raving about it, maybe due to lack of Disney characters.

Love @ The Mirage - Breathtaking. If you're a Beatles fan, beg, borrow, steal a ticket to this show. Superseded Model really enjoyed it, maybe because of the familiar music and the dancing - there's more dance and choreography in this show than out and out acrobatics and gymnastics like a classic Cirque show.

Superseded Model liked Las Vegas - it's bright, loud, colourful and full of dubious touts at every street corner handing out little cards for "escort services" with pictures of nude women on them (ok, maybe not the last one.. Wifey and I made it a game to see how many we could collect. They really are non-discriminatory, it's amazing how many nudie cards a woman pushing a toddler in a stroller is able to collect!!!!). Some of the bits she liked included:

- The canal and shoppes at the Venetian. The interior of this casino and the indoor canal are just amazing.
- The fountains at the Bellagio
- The aquarium at Mandalay Bay
- The Excalibur - it's shaped like a humongous fairytale castle, so no surprises there
- Madame Tussauds @ The Venetian
- and, for some reason, the Hooters casino.
