My DD (12) has a ressie for this for next week just for the hair and makeup. She isn't as into the "traditional princesses ie. Cindy, Aurora, and Ariel" but still likes Mulan and Jasmine (go girl power) and Belle because she's booky and also loves Alice and Wendy from Peter Pan...(She's very theatrical to say the least... :cutie: She's in that place where one day she wants to be "cool" :moped: and the next day she still wants to be a little girl... princess:

Anyhow...I think she wants something girly but maybe a little subtler than say she would have wanted when she was 8...she's actually bring a Wendy costume with her and want to wear it the next day at ressies at 1900 Park Fare (her brother (4) has a Peter Pan Costume..lol... :teeth:

This is a long and convoluted way of asking has anyone gone and gotten something a little on the subtle side? (She has long beautifully wavy hair but I don't think she want to be totally glitterfied (I know that isn't a real word-but she uses it...) I think she just wants to feel girly and pretty...

Any advice/observations????
Thanks in advance... :surfweb:

At the check in desk, they had 4X6 pictures of real peoples hair dos and make up. She could pick from them or tell them what she would like. They were completely flexible. I think from working with all the Princesses, the hairdressers go with the flow of the child they are transforming. Our hair dresser completely let our 8 year chatter and gads the things I could hear her sharing about our family. The BBB is completely worth the money, we did do the hair package, and nails painted, not the fake ones. And we threw in a crown, the ONLY day she ever wanted to wear one. Our DD loved it.

When our group did the BBB in Oct., we had girls ranging in age from 4 to 19, and they all had such a good time! Actually, my two neices, 14 and 15 said it was their favorite thing they did all week! I'm sure she'll have a great time, the Fairy Godmothers are wonderful.

Hi. I just returned from a week at Disney World and took my daughter to the BBB. It was absolutley wonderful. I have a sister who is 12 and I think she would have really liked doing it. When you get there, they will give you a little brochure and you have three choices to choose from. My suggestion is to choose the style closest to the one she wants and then when she meets her fairy godmother she can talk to her about how they can modify it to suit her more grown up tastes. Each of the three styles comes with different accessories so read the descriptions and see what she'll get to take home with her. Also, the little make up compact that comes with the package is really for younger kids but still fun. I don't recommend the nails for a "big girl" because they're silly little press ons that won't stay on and will most likely be too tiny for her.

Lastly, just a word of warning.... Our appointment was at 5pm and although I was expecting a bit of a wait so late in the day it turned out to be a 45 minute delay. Additionally, the store the boutique is located in was incredibly packed since it is close to Christmas and cool out. There is not a waiting area for the boutique so if there is a wait, it's time to shop or mill around the store. If the store is packed, it can be quite a painful wait. Just wanted to warn you. (Although waiting with a 12 year old is a lot different than waiting with a three year old so it might not be too bad for you.)

Have a great time. I'm sure she'll love it.
