Are they strict about the minimum age of 3? Would they absolutely refuse a 2.5yr old? I think I read that the minimum height is 35 inches. Is this true? Thanks for any info.

They are strict about not booking appts for those under the 3 yo age limit. But, if you say your DD is 3, then she is 3. No one is going to ask to see her birth certificate or her park ticket.

I saw a very little girl walking around MK with her super short hair done, and princess dress and a BB sash who looked no where near as old as 3! (one of the most adorable things i've seen actually :) )
Either her parents broke the rules, or she's the smallest 3-year-old I've ever seen. haha.

Is she going to be still while they work on her for about 30 minutes? I wouldn't do it but if you think she'll be able to handle the FGMiT pulling her hair back and doing makeup.. and this is a once in a life time thing I guess you could try- I didn't do it last time we were there - she was a week from 3 but i figured it was something she might appreciated something like that later.

I think the age thing is more because the child needs to be able to 1) Follow direction and listen 2) sit still for periods of time and 3) deal with the slight tugging and pulling on the hair to get some of those hairdos done.

If you plan to go back within two years I would wait. My favorite picture in the whole world of my oldest was taken when she was 4 at the BBB when they turned her toward the mirror for the reveal. She was so surprised and so happy. I know she wouldn't have had the same reaction at 2 1/2.

The age limit is there because most children before three still have the lanugo or "baby hair." This is similar to the hair on your body. Every style has some teasing in it which, if done on this young "hair", WILL NOT comb out. You'll just have to cut it out of the girls hair.
True, if you say she's three, they're not going to call you on it, but if she still has that hair or can't sit still and doesn't enjoy it because she freaks out, that's what you'll have to factor in.

It really all depends on the child, really. Just use your best judgement on her mood/maturity. If she goes in for the appointment and just doesn't want to have anything to do with it, you can always cancel the appointment.

Not so sure I agree with bolded statement! I mean, at 2.5, she's not going to shed all that hair and at 3 grow new "hair" that's not lanugo, doesn't work that way!

IMO, you know your DD better than anyone and if you think she can handle it, I'd try to take her! My sister is a hair stylist and has done DD's hair since she was VERY little because she WANTED it done and would have had NO PROBLEM whatsoever sitting still at BBB at 2.5. It just depends on the kiddo!!!! My guess is they say 3 because that's when "most" kids are able to sit there for that long, not because you'd have to cut out their hair from all the teasing! LOL:rolleyes1

Very true!!!!! DD did BBB at 3.5 and was in awe over how they "transformed" her!!!!!! At 2.5, she would have just been like, welll, it's a pretty pony tail! LOL:rotfl:

I understand that, but some kids still have some at that age in their hair and that is a main Disney reason for the age limit.
"Lanugo grows on fetuses as a normal part of gestation, but is usually shed and replaced by vellus hair at about 33 to 36 weeks of gestational age." -Wiki

:confused3 That quote is for 36 weekold fetus, not a 36 month old child? I don't understand your point?

My DD was not quite 3 when we went (3-4 weeks before her 3rd birthday) and they did not question the booking. Then again, she sat still, followed instructions, and had a great time. Her hair was on the fine side, but it still is, and dare I say that the result was rather garish. (But it usually is!)

We had my daughter done last August when she was almost three and a half. She it TINY. Right now she is four and is about 36" and 28lbs.
So you never know...DD probably looked like she was barely two when we had her there and we were most definitely following the 3 year old rule.

If you plan on going back in the near future, I would wait as well. DD did it a 3.5 and did great, but the girl working on her hair commented that much younger is often a problem. You know your child better than anyone, but it is a lot of money to spend for an experience she may better enjoy a little older. I have heard others having trouble sneaking in a child under 3. I remember reading a lot of threads when I was trying to determine if DD 3 was old enough or DD 10 was too old.
