BEYOND angry.

Yes.

I have 3 contracts on the same UY. So for me, it's split into 3 different buckets since the dues are different amounts per resort.

I have the option to apply my payment to a specific resort or just pay it in general. DVC takes care of allocating it to the correct places for me so that it's not different than if I had 1 contract for the same amount of points - as it relates to payment.
Can you recommend a blog or thread that explains why DVC is worth it? I still don’t know if it’s right for my family but we have been going yearly and I really wonder if I’m missing the secrets to make it work! I see the fees and wonder if it works out.

There's no "secret" just a lot of rules. If you spend a lot of money on Disney hotels and can plan your travel far enough in advance, it might be right for you. You need to do your homework on a purchase this big.

There's a lot of blogs and posts...but it's all very individualized. It might be best to start a new post for that so we don't pull away from the original thread.

Is it worth it is 100% up to you and your family. If you're going yearly, it's highly worth considering. I was in your shoes several years ago, we went yearly and were value people. Does it work out? Yes and no. It would not work out if I used all my points. But it works out because I rent out a good portion of my points and I purchased contracts based on financials instead of desire to have XYZ resort. When I factor all of that in, I'm actually cash flow positive on a yearly basis. That's accounting for dues, taxes, commissions, etc. Enough so that my room and tickets are paid for compared to my previous vacation budget. But if I look at it that way, I have to be fair and say I also laid out a good chunk upfront - which has also gone up in value (not guaranteed).

Put up a new post, many will be able to chime in and we can go more in depth. We'll obviously be a bit biased on here though.

To add to what RoseGold said, if you have been and fine in the future with staying at moderate and below hotels, than it’s likely not for your family. If you already like the deluxe resorts, or think you will in the future, than it may just be your jam. DVC is often compared to staying at deluxe resorts at moderate pricing, and to some extent a hedge against inflation, and Disney price inflation, which seems to rise at what feels like 10x the COLA rates.

I'm sorry that happened to you. I missed out on a contract I really wanted and then got a much better one the next day. Hope springs eternal! I would ask for a conversation with the owner though at the very least, to get his, her or their assurance you would receive notice of any similar contracts rather than having to constantly be on the search. Email is easy but it is not a good way of communicating a mistake. I can't believe the agent just emailed you. A telephone call was in order.
