We were at the MK yesterday and we decided to have an afternoon snack. We stopped my Auntie Gravities for some soft serve. After we got our ice cream and had taken about 5 feet from the door a seagull swooped down, hitting my wifes head and knocking her ice cream out of her hand. Next about 4 other seagulls swarmed in and attacked the ice cream. My wife was understandably upset. After a couple of minutes my wife went back in to buy another one. She was talking to the cashier, telling her about what happened and they gave her a free one. While she was in there I saw the same thing happen to 2 other women! It was very freaky! And it has to happen pretty frequently since they had no problems giving her a new one.

Just a warning!

We were in Frontierland last October, and saw one of the seagulls sweep down and grab a little boys hot dog! I couldn't believe it! Poor little boy was so upset.

Birdie, birdie in the sky,
Why'd you do that in my eye.
I won't hurt you or make you cry,
I'm just glad that cows don't fly.

Same experience here, just outside of Splash...except I was the recipient of said ketchup covered hot dog when the seagull dropped it and i had ketchup down the front of a brand new shirt. My friends thought it was hilarious. I was super annoyed! I was dived bombed by a seagull with a ketchuped hot dog!

I noticed this past trip that the birds, not just the seagulls, were more brave then ever! One seagull was eyeing DD in her stroller and I actually commented that I thought he was going to swoop down and attack her. And over in the stroller parking by Buzz Lightyear in MK, the birds were all nuts! They were just flying from stroller to stroller going through peoples' things. And it didn't even matter if I was standing right there with my hand on our stroller - they still tried to get to it.

We had a bad seagull experience last week while there but it had to do with the opposite end of the bird. Be VERY careful NOT to sit UNDER their sitting spot.

Happens all the time at the Jersey Shore. Some places have signs posted that they're NOT responsible for food "stolen" by the seagulls; other places will replace it free. You've really got to guard your food when gulls are around.

Never saw a seagull eat ice cream, but they're known to eat just about anything, so I'm not surprised. The most unusual thing I've seen seagulls eat is live starfish. Several big herring gulls were diving from the rocks at a jetty and coming back up with starfish, ripping them apart point by point, and swallowing. Even when alive starfish have a very tough thick skin. I don't know how they could digest those things.

DD loves every living animal, bug, bird, fish known to man....except seagulls. She was walking slightly behind me at Epcot a few years ago, calmly eating her funnel cake when one swooped down, stole the funnel cake and bit her finger. The only reason I knew something happened was because a lady walking toward me saw the whole thing and was gesturing wildly at me. She had this look of horror on her face and I couldn't figure out why....DD was behind me winding up for the ear-splitting scream. We were right in front the DVC people and they came running out, took DH back to replace the funnel cake. On his way back to us ANOTHER one swooped down and knocked the whole thing out of his hands. So DVC reps took him back and got him ANOTHER funnel cake, which he promptly covered with a second plate before bringing it back to where we were waiting.

DD has hated seagulls ever since then.

This happened on one of our first trips, We were in Epcot eating a funnel cake, and a bird swooped down and stole a piece right out of our hands. Rats with wings, I tell ya :P

I had the exact same thing happen to me a couple of years ago. I was soo grossed out because I felt the feathers go through my hair yuck!!!!

What is it with those birds? My oldest DD (10 at the time) had a similar experience. We were enjoying our first full day at disney and having lunch outside the dining area at CBR when a bird (not seagull) swooped down and took a chicken nugget from her hand. It scared us all especially my DD. The bird should be glad I could not reach/catch it. That made me angry.

It happens because some people feed them. Once they get a taste for human food you are going to have problems.

We were at the little seating area around La Catina in Epcot and the birds were very aggressive... of course someone a few tables over were feeding them too..

Thanks for posting the warnings. I didn't know that the seagulls were so aggressive and would steal food from your hands.

We were sitting in the area for Flame Tree at Animal Kingdom and a duck decided he wanted a little snack.

He kept wandering up to our table and of course, we weren't feeding them...

He pecked me HARD on the foot (hard enough that I yelled!) then just stood there.

He finally wandered off and we resumed our conversations and then he came back and did it again!!!

Everyone around us was laughing hysterically. It really hurt though.

Exact thing happened to my DD while sitting down at Pecos Bill's outside to eat!!! She was only 4 or 5, and boy did she cry!!! :rotfl:

Everytime we pass that place now, she just looks at me and I know what's going through her mind.

They go for popcorn too.

Growing up my grandparents called them rats with wings. They are so darn agressive. I hate the darn things.
