Beware, scam ESTA site

Warning to all my DIS buddies. I googled esta on the internet and applied for myself and my DH, DD and DS. Thinking I had the official site I thought nothing of it and assumed I had paid 14 dollars each. Checked my bank account today and they charged me 140 dollars each!! I was devastated as you can imagine. Turns out there are lots of these bogus sites, I never even considered this. Luckily DH has contacted the fraud team at the bank and it looks like we will get put money back but I've shed a fair few tears in the interim!
The website was called estavisas.org

I've reported it bbc watchdog.

Definitely a few bogus sites out there,I am sure the first one,that used to come up on Google was a bogus one,not sure if it's still the same.

That's terrible. I'm so sorry that happened to you. Hopefully your bank will sort it out - they are usually pretty good at dealing with things like this

If they have not done so by default, ask them to put a stop on the card for now and issue you a new one so that the details you entered cant be used fraudulently elsewhere.

Awww, that's TERRIBLE! Luckily, I'd had to do the ESTA thing before but can very easily see how people could end up getting confused. I'm SO sorry you had that AWFUL experience! Hope the FAB time you'll have on hol chases all that bad feeling away!

It's such a shame that you got caught by this. These are legitimate sites but they prey on the inexperienced by claiming to process the ESTA application for you, thereby allegedly saving you the hassle of doing it yourself.

It is worth a reminder to everyone that these sites are out there. I hope you manage to get your money back.

Surprised the bank are helping, there were lots lost out when ESTA's first came in and many lost money with no help. Good luck with getting a refund.

How did you manage to get your money back? That is a totally legitimate site - they complete your esta for you for a fee.
