Beware of Raise!!!

Raise.com has a coupon out for $10 off a $25 purchase for new customers.

So I find a $25 Amazon card for $24.75, and then a small second card to get me over the $25 limit. The coupon code attaches to my order no problem, and shows me the proper total minus the $10 coupon code.

But when I hit the "Submit Order" button, I get an order confirmation for ONLY the Amazon card, and since it is now under $25, the $10 coupon code was NOT applied to the order.

No warning was presented that the other card had sold before I submitted my purchase, so the coupon wouldn't apply. Nothing. Nada. (I've reproduced the steps to prove there was no warning message and I didn't miss anything. My confirmation email even SHOWS the coupon on the order, it just doesn't subtract the coupon amount from the total.)

I would not have purchased the gift card had I know this was a possibility with their site - I can get 5% off at Amazon with my Discover card, so I wouldn't settle for just 1% off - I bought only because of the coupon. I understand that they don't hold cards, but there should be a message saying something has become unavailable, or that a coupon code has become invalid because of changes to items in your cart! I have not had this sort of issue with any other gift card reseller - I have always been told if a card was no longer available when I attempted to submit the purchase.

So I called Raise, and after getting no where with the first line agent, speak to a Supervisor. He admits there was an issue and that it will be "sent to their development team", but otherwise doesn't give a hoot. All he offered was another $10 off $25 coupon, so I could spend yet MORE money with them. Uhhh...no thanks. I asked for any of the following resolutions: (1) cancel the order, (2) credit me $10 on the Amazon card sale (it was just $.25 shy of the coupon requirements anyway) or (3) give me a coupon for $10 off any purchase, which would allow me to get close to the same level of discount I should have gotten with my original purchase. He refused to do any of them.

What cruddy customer service!!!!!

That sounds horrible! You should only be charged the amount that was displayed when you hit Submit Order! I am so sorry. I wonder if calling back and getting a different agent might result in a better resolution with customer service? Even then, though, that would take even more time and trouble on your part. :(

I've tried 2 agents (1 via chat, 1 via phone) and 1 Supervisor. None of them will do anything. And it takes 2 hours to get to someone via phone. I give up. I've filed a BBB complaint. Interestingly, I found another complaint there for the EXACT.SAME.ISSUE. He had problems getting a resolution at first too, and it was clearly ONLY after posting negative reviews and filing the BBB complaint that Raise stepped up and properly addressed the issue. They claimed they were oh so sorry for the issue in their BBB response and the fact that it wasn't handled properly when the issue was first reported - yeah, right. If they were really "sorry" you would think they would have a policy in place for recognizing it and dealing with it every time it happens, not just when someone goes public with it.
