I lurk a lot but rarely post. The only negative to our entire "Magic" vacation happened to my sister. She decided to use the iron on deck 2 near the aft of the ship. No one had been using it and it was cold. She adjusted the temperature setting to the very lowest for delicate fabrics.
Unbeknownst to her, the temperature strip had only one true setting - HOT - no matter where the indicator was set.
She attempted one press upon her $500 satin evening gown and it immediately left a giant scorch mark on the front panel of the gown. After crying for a while, she wore it the next evening and just hid the spot with her handbag, saying she would just wear it and forget it and throw it away later as it was beyond redemption.
As a side note, our stateroom hostess tried desperately to help her remove the stain (impossible) and my sister did speak politely to a manager in guest services, but Disney did not compensate her for the loss of the dress saying that the irons are "use at your own risk." Indeed they are risky, as she learned to her dismay. Perhaps they should post a note next to them saying "HOT ONLY."
Just FYI.
