I have posted about this before. I called USAIR and they basically told me the same thing and told me what my options would be. Here's the problem.................
I originally booked an early flight 7:30 leaving Bradley in Ct. direct to MCO on November 10 and returning November 18 on a 1pm flight. I keep checking the flights and they have changed the times from 7:30 to 11:15(so we won't be arriving til around 2!) and the return to 10:30am and I don't know if we will even be able to make it on time from the cruise. The person I spoke with at USAIR told me she could change it now but could not guarantee it wouldn't change again. So she told me to wait until 30 prior and check again, then if I am not satisfied I can either receive a refund (not likely...the flights will probably be more than I paid) or they could get me on an earlier connecting flight. I really wanted direct.

So my questions to you are:
1.) If the flights don't return to my original times will they fly us out a day earlier? I was considering just paying for an extra night at the hotel.

2.) Can they just put us on a connecting flight without offering any type of a refund? I specifically booked a direct flight, it just makes it easier with children.

Thank you in advance for your response. You are very kind to be so helpful.

Thanks,
Debbie:cool:

you keep saying direct. do you mean non-stop?
I would have them change it now then in jul after the next sched change call again and if its not what you want and they won't let you change it let me know and I can help you. its possible that in the jul SC it will change back to what you originally had. but then again there is another change in oct as well. go ahead and change it now to what you really want. then have them make a note in your ressie(PNR) that whoever works this schedule change to please make sure that you are reaccomodated on the earliest non-stop flight due to your cruise. thanks. this way when its worked(more than likely here in pit) they will see the notation and put you on the right lfights. we were always told to check for any notes before confirming the change.

Hi Debbie, I would take there suggestion to wait till 30 days out to make any changes but I would also have the supervisors name and phone number to contact them at the thirty day mark. I would set up dialog with the supervisor explaining your uneasyness about the connecting flight and the fact about the need to make the cruise ship. I always booked my flight the day before just in case of delays. I wasn't about to get that close and watch the ship sail without me. Make sure they don't try and hit you with a change of flight charge. If you have any resistance go higher up to the top if you have to.

Here's what I would do if I faced those circumstances. I'd get a refund now and say to heck with US Airways. When there is a schedule change, you are entitled to a complete refund in the same form in which you paid. BDL-MCO is a very minor route for that airline. They have only one daily non-stop flight. For all we know, they may not have any non-stops come November. I believe it's actually a MetroJet flight and US Airways changes their MetroJet flights more frequently than any airline I'm aware of besides Vanguard.

Delta has 5 daily non-stop flights on the route. I would just buy new roundtrip tickets on Delta.

If you depend on US Airways, you are going to drive yourself crazy over the next 5 months worrying what flights you will ultimately be on.

If you want non-stop flights and you are limited to certain times based on the cruise, a non-stop from US Airways may not even be an option.

Briar Rose is having trouble with USAIR not USAIRWAYS.

I don't think so, but I could be wrong.

US Airways is now the name of the airline that used to be commonly referred to as US Air. Same airline.

please feel free to contact me if you need any further help. personally I say stick with what carrier you are flying right now. ther are people who fly on a regular basis and during eacha nd every sched change they call in and have the flights changed to what they want. its no big deal. and 9 out of 10 times the winter sched goes back to what it was when you bought the tkt.

I understand your frustration Briar Rose! I booked USAIR in January for Thanksgiving because they offered non-stop BDL->MCO at decent times for our schedule. Well, as of today, both flights don't exist, and they have no non-stop ( or direct) fights in afternoon/evening! And unfortunately at this late in the game, all other carriers are through the roof for Thanksgiving travel! Guess I have to wait it out and see what the next schedule changes bring. I could kick myself for not booking Delta per usual!
