Which would you recommend...California Grill or Morimoto Asia?

Haven't tried MA, but not impressed with CG. Morimoto by default.

I'm sure Morimoto is great, but there's simply no question: California Grill. It's the best WDW fine dining experience you'll have. Make your ADR about half an hour or so prior to fireworks time if you want a fantastic show to go along with the fantastic food.

Went to both two weeks ago. Both great restaurants. I wouldn't give the edge to either. Morimoto would be my choice for a large party (more than 2 or 3) as you can order many things and share. C.G. great for any size party. I thought the prices at Morimoto were quite inexpensive. Try both!

I think Cali Grill is over rated, primarily because too many people seem to think that sushi or steak + fireworks = fine dining. There are (for us) much better signatures, but this is always a matter of personal preference. Haven't tried Morimotos yet, but the reviews I've read ( by actual dining critics) and the menu make this somewhere we will definitely try on our next visit.

We don't usually stay for the firework show at California grill. We just LOVE the food!

They change the menu often so it's fun to try new things. I'm not a big meat eater but I love trying their salads and pastas - and I always start with a sushi appetizer.

Ok - now I'm so excited to go on our next trip! We always go at least twice when we stay at disney.

This! I would have to agree. Cali Grill is one of my least favorite of all the Signatures at Disney. Morimotos is fantastic! For me, no contest.

I've never understood the lackluster California Grill reviews, especially the ones that insinuate that people who enjoy it probably don't know what fine dining is (I've seen this all over Disboards and not simply in this thread). I've never ordered the sushi. We were there last week and I went in basically looking for problems since I've read so many "it's overrated and inconsistent" comments about it. It wasn't our first meal there (we eat there every trip) and I can honestly say it was the best entree I've ever had in my life. I ordered the bison, if it matters. And yes, I'm very familiar with fine dining (by anyone's standards of what "fine dining" entails). So what I'm getting at is that California Grill isn't *just* about the fireworks, although they are pretty awesome alongside an outstanding meal.

OP, don't be scared off by bad/lackluster reviews of either restaurant. Try whichever one appeals to you more. I highly doubt you'll be disappointed with your choice, whatever choice you make.
