Between the BLs (Biggest Loser) Summer Challenge 2010 Part 2

Kathy--sounds like you are having a great vacation so far, despite the rain. Doesn't it feel great to be making some good choices and still be enjoying yourself?:goodvibes I am so excited for your surprise trip!

Connie--glad the headache is better.:goodvibes My Ds loved the library. I think he loved that he had so many choices. It was never a quick trip for us, because he could never decide. Have a great time!

Hi Taryn! Hope your day is not too crazy.:goodvibes And please feel free to vent anytime. I am always happy to listen.:goodvibes Can you sneak a long nap in this weekend? Too little sleep for too long is not good. Mike had a melt down a couple of years ago when he was on a really stressful project at work, and it was from lack of sleep. He is not a pill taker, but he had to go on Ambien for a week or so. Hang in there.

Dona--I'm sorry the job for DS did not work out. Still sending good thoughts his way for something new.:goodvibes

Jen--enjoy your run, and I second the get back to eating breakfast .:goodvibes I am not a breakfast person at all. I almost look at it as a chore I have to do whether I want to or not. Hope the visit to the school is productive.:goodvibes

Pamela--sounds like your schedule is going to work out perfectly today! And what a NSV at OG! That's wonderful. Thanks for sharing!
Hope DS has a wonderful first day and that he has friends in his classes!

Good morning all! Thank you Shannon for being our weightkeeper. Congratulations to all the Losers! I was very excited to make the list--what a great way to go to maintain!

I slept until 8:30 this morning! Couldn't believe it. I feel somewhat rested for the first time in about a week. I decided I'm not going to go to strength class until after the race on the 4th. So today I'm going to do some bike and some elliptical at the Y.

I don't know what Lisa will say, but I think we should at least chat a bit on this thread next week, because we have three birthdays!!!! Connie, Taryn and Me! Too exciting!:goodvibes I don't know what you all have planned for your birthdays, but for the first time in years I have a very exciting day planned. I am running a half marathon in the morning and then going to a DIS meet!! Can you believe it, both on the same day and both on my B-day! I'm hoping to meet Jennz that day as well. Can you tell I'm starting to get excited!:goodvibes

Hope everyone has a great day.:)

QOTD--Pamela got us started off on this question. As we finish up this challenge, what NSV (non-scale victories) have you achieved this summer or this year? Sometimes, I think the nsv are more exciting than seeing the scale move! I also think celebrating NSV can really help us with achieving a positive body image.

1. I no longer have to stress when I put clothes in the dryer that they won't fit when I take them out. I can leave them in the whole time if I want to!:goodvibes

2. I can run 13 miles!

3. I can leave food on my plate. Sounds silly, but leaving a french fry sitting there, or skipping the bun, or just boxing up food in the past would have been torturous for me.

4. I like trying clothes on. I had forgotten how much I love clothes. I had so many black shirts/black t-shirts from "before" and that was kind of my uniform. I am slowly getting my confidence back, and I am wearing skirts to work and if I wear a black shirt now, it's cause it's cute!

5. I don't mind having my picture taken.:goodvibes

6. And last, I just feel healthy. I feel strong. I like feeling this way, and don't want to go back to the way I felt before.:goodvibes

Good morning all! :goodvibes

Congratulations to all our superstars and especially to our Biggest Loser, Rose&Mike! :cool1: You and pjlla both pulled off big losses the week before your coaching gigs!

Hard to believe that our summer challenge will be ending in less than 48 hours! Work hard these last couple of days and finish strong!

So now I have no more Legos in my room, no more Legos in the dining room, no more Legos in the playroom, and no more Legos in his room! Amazing!

Amazing! Your feet will be so happy! ;)

What is your solution for the Nerf darts that seem to multiply on their own, except when someone needs them?!?

Hope the first day went well and great job on the NSV!

Lisa--yea on the 2 pounds and yea on cutting back on the diet soda! I know I keep saying it, but it was the best thing I ever did! I love spread sheets as well. I even plan my Disney trips on excel! I have graphed my weight since the beginning of the year, which is also pretty interesting.!

So far the soda cutback isn't too bad, Rose. I'm still pretty much a newbie on Excel. I am sure it can do lots more than I can do with it. I was a whiz on Lotus 123 but that was awhile ago. :rolleyes1 I feel that I just need some more concrete tracking than my journal that I am carting around. Especially as I really start working on my training for the Princess. Can't WISH my way ready for that one! princess:

Tomorrow night is Ryan's kindergarten play date. He gets to meet his teacher and the other kids in his class. I dont know whether to cry or be excited. He starts on monday. Where does the time go?

, Lindsay. DS will have a great time in school. And remember Taryn's rule about a good day in kindergarten -- no crying! I think she meant parents, too. ;)

Most of my time is being taken up with applying for jobs. There have been several that have come up as the school year gets closer but I am very sad to say that I have not gotten an interview for any of them. I am feeling quite depressed about the whole thing and am working not to get to discouraged. It is just going to be so hard next week when teachers go back and I do not have a classroom to go back to. It is especially hard since DH is a teacher and I will be helping him get his stuff in order. I was thinking about applying for other jobs and DH asked what I wanted to do and all I could think of was teach. I will be honest and admit that I sat and cried at that point.

Awww, jen. I'm sure that it is hard right now to remember how frustrating it was at your old school last year. It is worth your happiness and sanity to take the time needed to find the right job for you. Sounds like the subbing and tutoring things will be a good interim choice. How about volunteering at a school? It's a good way to network and make some contacts plus hang out with the kiddos.

I'll do my final weight tomorrow, and pm Shannon. I can't believe the summer challenge is almost over. What a successful and supportive group we have here. Even if you haven't lost, or have gained a bit this summer, I know without the support of this group here, it could be so much worse. A huge congratulations to all of us here!!!:cheer2:

::yes:: Yep, we should all give ourselves a big pat on the back for sticking it out all summer long! :sunny:

Glad you had a good time and did so well with your eating and exercise. You know that we all can't wait to hear how the big surprise reveal goes, right? :yay:

Hi ladies. I really am here today. I went to work this morning but came home at lunch with a migrane. :headache: MUCH better now.

Glad that you are feeling better, Connie! :flower3: Enjoy your afternoon off!

Question about the challenges. Should we chatter on this thread this week, as I know we will, ;) or move to the new thread. I wonder if we stuck around here it would be less initimidating to newbies for fall? I know we seem like a close knit bunch, because, well, we are!

We ususally keep on chatting on this thread until the results come out the following Tuesday and everyone says their congratulations and farewells. By then I will the introduce yourself question on the new thread and we will move on over. We are a little intimidating to newbies but it easy to see what a friendly, supportive bunch we are when we are chattering away! :goodvibes

Sorry about the job thing for your DS, dona.

Rose, sorry about the tummy bug but I'm glad it wasn't food poisoning and that you are feeling better! :flower3:

Have a great day!

We're you trying to be like CC and have a stealth birthday, too? ;) And you have such a great birthday celebration planned too! I will add your name to the list and we will be able to celebrate all our birthdays next week on both our threads! Tell jennz that her WISH friends miss her!

I can tell that you are excited, as you should be, celebrating your birthday at goal is an accomplishment! :cool1:

Morning,

I too slept in the morning, but that now means I am very, very far behind for the day. Sorry-no time for replies. I have to start and finish the book by 2:45 when the kid who needs help understanding it comes home after her 1st day of school. Mom wanted to talk during the drive to the casino so no reading for me. I am hoping, just a bit ;), that her assignment won't be due for a few days.

I am hoping to go to the gym today, but not sure if that will happen or not. I have some laundry to do and I'm not feeling breakfast. Something just doesn't seem right. Taryn-it might be a need for sleep. I wish I knew for sure though.

Off to do some laundry and read. May jump on the Wii and see the damage from last night. I did well, but since there was no way to plan ahead and we went to a buffet, I'm still worried.

Congrats to Rose and the entire top 10!

Have a great day everyone! :goodvibes

QUickly breaking my own rule about no dissing at work, having lunch at my desk with tons to do, but needed to stop in! They are working on the fire alarm, system is outside MY door, and it has beeped ALL MORNING!!!:headache:

Had carrots for breakfast, spinach and green beans for lunch. Going to have a plum and be done. I just needed to say hello for my sanity! I love you guys! Not going to reply now, just a fly by hello!
Taryn

Lisa--pm me if you want a tracking sheet for excel. I keep track of weight and exercise. It's already set up to add everything up. I also have a separate page just for runs. And too funny about the nerf thingies, and so true!:goodvibes

Not trying to have a stealth birthday, it just fell between the challenges. It was like that during school. Everyone else got cupcakes, and mine always seemed to get overlooked, with all the back to school stuff going on. Maybe that's where all my problems started.:thumbsup2 Anyhow, I think it's very cool that Connie is the 30th, I am the 4th, and Taryn is the 5th! I am, of course, the old wise one of the group....:rolleyes1

CC--hope you get the book finished.:goodvibes

Taryn--Would you believe I had almost not veggies yesterday either--and I am a vegetarian! I did have fruit, and tomato sauce, but need to get some more veggies in today. Make sure your are eating enough. We don't want you getting dizzy or feeling sick.

I'm back from the Y. Not sure what I'm going to do today.

Tracey--are you doing ok? We haven't heard from you yet. I hope everything is ok.

First chance I've had to check in. Slept in again this morning as I was awake at 3 and didn't get back to sleep until the alarm was about to go off! Then I had to get up and get the kids ready to do our refinancing closing. Got back here a little after 10 from that. Now DD2 is having a playdate. Fixing lunch right now. It's pouring so right now they're playing trains in the bedroom. I hope to get some type of workout in later.

We're all feeling fine today though I have a bit of a headache. Did I mention how hard it is raining?!

Making myself a WW meal and DD1 is having a LC pizza. She really wants to work out with me later.

Tomorrow is going to be a crazy day. I have to work and then take DD2 to the dentist, then get the car appraised, then pick up the new PS3 and then I have to work tomorrow night!

Planning on making chicken parm subs for supper with carrots on the side.

Want to make some more chocolate chip coffee cake before the buttermilk goes bad. I just hope I have chocolate chips left. My bag is almost empty!

Be back later!

Lisa--pm me if you want a tracking sheet for excel. I keep track of weight and exercise. It's already set up to add everything up. I also have a separate page just for runs. And too funny about the nerf thingies, and so true!:goodvibes

THanks! We're good! I was posting the same time as you!

COngrats on being the BL this week!

Rose - If you are sharing your excel sheet...would you mind sharing it with me? It sounds like something I could really use. Right now I feel like I am tracking in so many places and I would love to simplify the whole system. :goodvibes

Well, I was able to get my 3 mile run in this morning so I am up to 18 miles so far for the week. I am going to take tomorrow off from running since I have run 3 days in a row.

I came home and called the school...position is being filled today. :sad2: So, I have spent most my morning expanding my job search to include some school districts that would be a much longer drive. DH and I talked on our run though and if there are no positions on our side of the Twin Cities, then maybe I need to look on the other side and we would have to consider moving. So, my task for today is to continue to broaden my search and not get discouraged.

Taryn - Wanted to put a little waving guy here for you but I can't get the other smilies to load! Sounds like a crazy sort of day for you so I am glad you stopped in.

Lisa - I totally remember last year of school and I would take the job back in an instant if it paid more then subbing and had some benefits. Unfortunately it did not so I am guessing subbing it will be. I know I should be happy with that. It is just that I have so much teaching experience it is going to be hard to be going into classrooms and not having it be my classroom. I will get over it...it is just sad to me right now.

Alright, time to focus on more applications. I just really needed a mental break. I think I will go make a healthy lunch and then hit the computer for a few more hours.

Boy, that is a nice NSV, isn't it? A couple more are: being able to pull down your pants without unzipping, even the newer, smaller sized ones and having to replace sports bras because they are so loose things are falling out the bottom that should be held in! ;)

I'm glad that you weren't trying to have a stealth birthday! :goodvibes

CC, sorry for the hurried start to the day. Hope it gets better from now on!

Tracey, glad that you all are feeling okay today.

Had carrots for breakfast, spinach and green beans for lunch. Going to have a plum and be done. I just needed to say hello for my sanity! I love you guys! Not going to reply now, just a fly by hello!

, Taryn. And I have to ask, where is your protein, girl? :confused3

, Jen. Here is some pixiedust: for you that your perfect job offer is just around the corner. I don't blame you one bit for being sad. I would be sad, too. (That is another one of those midwestern things that I can live without -- you always have to make the best of a bad situation, even when it is the last thing that you feel like doing. ;))

Afternoon everybody. Just a drive-by post right now I think. After having all the virus problems conquered it was time to head up to Rehoboth to visit with family. Stayed for 4 days and was NOT ready to come home at all. Usually we are ready to head back to our home. Not this time. TG we have a vacation coming up in Oct. Heading up to Gettysburg and staying in a KOA Kabin for a few days. Will be really nice.

Did pretty well on the trip. Ate what I wanted but was careful not to eat too much of anything. Only gained a half pound, and hoping to be rid of that by weigh in on Sun. I am now working every Sat. and off every Sun. oh joy:sad2:

Have to get back into excercising which is my next stop. Just got back from a nice walk with Onslow, it is beautiful out. Had to carry him back a a couple of blocks because he just tuckered out, and after about 5 minutes of letting him sit on the grass he said it was time for a lay down. :lmao: Ok pal, lets go lay down IN the house.

Hope everybody has a great afternoon. Will be back after working out and lunch to try and catch up popcorn::

Thanks Rose!

I finished the book! The school bus just came flying down the hill. 30 minutes to spare!

Better go now.

CC

Jen
Just send me a pm with your email. I'm happy to.:goodvibes

Lisa--I loved having to by new bras! I really wish I could buy a smaller size!:lmao: I never told this story, cause it's probably TMI, but I was in a 38 or 40d--can't remember, and went to get a new one before our anniversary trip in May. So the girl said, you are a 36, close to a 34, but you need a DD.:scared1: I was sooooo upset. I think I got a little weepy. Thank goodness that size did not last long--and I only bought one in that size!

Hi Octoberbride.:goodvibes The trip to Gettysburg sounds like fun!

CC--glad you finished!:goodvibes

I have done nothing productive today.:confused3 I get like this sometimes when I get stressed about things, then I end up procrastinating until the last minute and running around like a maniac. I have a bunch of stuff I need to do before next weekend. Hopefully I will be more productive on Friday.

Hope everyone is having an on-plan day.:goodvibes

Hey again. Another flyby post! We have to leave in 5 for gymnastics.

So far OP. I did have a glass of milk and about 3oz. of London Broil just now. I need the protein to keep me awake! I am trying to avoid carbs today, so that the whoosh will hurry up, this extra weight won't go away, and I KNOW it has to be water, since it all came on overnight without a big eating day. I don't know why my body has to be a sponge!!!

Packed carrots, oranges, nectarines, turkey for Sophie for dinner. AK had the dinner of champs - cereal. I know she will want something when we get home, probably a pb&j. Gymnastics always makes her starving!

I am in serious need of a nap. Hope Sophie will take one on the way down and we can both nap in the car for a bit. I always worry about the drive home when I am sleepy!

Tracey - glad you are okay! I mainly checked at lunch to see if you had posted.

CC - glad you got the book done!

JEn - I can't believe the mileage you are putting up! I hope the right job comes along. I hope you don't have to move!

Rose - did you always get the same clothes and school supplies that everyone else did, yet it was your birthday gift? That happened to me a bunch. But as a parent on a budget, I get it now!

Dona - sorry DS didn't get the job.

I can't remember what else I read, I'll check back in tonight!

Tomorrow, Sophie has her physical in the am, so I took the day off work!:cool1: We'll be getting stuff together for the yard sale, yahoo.. Mom might keep Sophie for us to do it if she is feeling okay, not sure about her shots. Hoping I can con DH into taking AK to gym, he doesn't have/get to work tomorrow night!

See you later!
Taryn

OMG! Y'all, it is SO much cooler here today. I headed out for my run at about 6:45 this morning. It was 75 degrees and overcast. It was wonderful! I ran 4 minutes, walked 1 minute, 18 times. That's 1 hour, 30 minutes and I covered 8.18 miles!! According to my Garmin, including both walk and run intervals, my average pace was 11:01. For just over 8 miles, I am loving that pace! :woohoo:

And, since it was so nice this morning, DD and I ended up going to the zoo instead of the library. We are home right now and she's napping. If she doesn't sleep too long, I'm still gonna try to make it to the library but we'll have to wait and see.

BTW... It's almost 4pm now and looks like our temp will top out around 90 degrees. I never thought I'd be this happy to see 90 degrees, but this is AWESOME!!

I'll check back in later this evening. Y'all have a good one! :goodvibes

Taryn--glad you got a little protein in.:goodvibes Hope you get to nap too! Yep, back to school clothes were definitely bday presents. Probably not as bad as having a dec bday, but I still didn't like it as a kid. Now I don't mind it, because there is usually baseball on my bday, which is always a good excuse for a beer! DS senior year of high school he gave me his national merit semi finalist letter as a present, and that was very cool!

Connie--Woohoo for cooler temps.:cool1: We've been much cooler this week, though it is supposed to be back in the 90s by the weekend. What a great run you had! I bet the zoo was busy today, with the nice weather.:goodvibes

I am waiting for Mike to get home and then we're going to have dinner and go to baseball. I'm having a beer tonight, skipped it last night, so looking forward to one tonight. I'm trying to figure out how we can get a quick run in the morning before work without going on the streets in our neighborhood--they are too sloped. And I am very proud of myself for cooking dinner--veggie fajitas--because I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY didn't want to.

Ok, I'll try to check back in after baseball. We're almost to the finish!:goodvibes

Taryn, You're soo sweet! I know whenever I'm feeling low I can just come on here and get some LOVE!!!!!

I'm proud to say I worked out for 20 minutes. I did Bob's new workout, the 20 minute beginner. Strength work! I hope I can lift my arms for my massages in the morning!

Picked up the new PS3 so I'm hoping to play some Lego HP tonight! I'm having withdrawals!

I AM GOING TO GET UP AT 5:15 tomorrow!!!!!! No excuses! I'll take some Tylenol PM tonight before bed. I had a drink of mango rum and diet sprite with my dinner. It's a quenching drink. Now it's water the rest of the night! I made homemade chicken parmesan sandwiches and I had a handful of cheeseburger chips with it. I haven't eaten a ton today. I would like to get another small workout in but I'll have to see if DH will go downstairs with me.

Time to clean up the kitchen before sitting down to watch tv or getting in another workout!

I'll try to check in tomorrow morning before or after I get to work while the stones are heating up. Good night all!
