We are going to disney in a couple of weeks and would like to try out a buffet...our kids love buffets! Which is the best? I heard the one at the Beach Club is very good...can you help? Thanks!

:D

We like Cape May for dinner, but have never seen characters there, and Chef Mickey's does have those. I would choose by where you plan to be... Spend a day at MK and then head to the Contemporary for dinner or have dinner at Cape May and then head into EPCOT for the parade and Illuminations. If you have the time and budget you could consider doing both, they have very different items available, both are popular with lots of folks.

Cape May Cafe- Breakfast- has characters, Chip, Dale, Goofy, Pluto and Minnie is at the door at her time schedule, good interaction with the others, good food

Dinner-pretty good but no characters

Chef Mickey's-Breakfast- haven't done

Dinner- food only fair but character interaction was really good, in addition to the above characters you also get Mickey and Donald greets at the door (or by the buffet) and Minnie walks the room

If you're going for food, go to Cape May, if you're going for characters (and want them all in one place) go to Chef Mickey's, but if you really have the time, TRY BOTH:)

We generally enjoy the food at Cape May can't say the same for Chef Mickey's. If you want characters and good food we enjoy Crystal Palace.

Well, we do Chef Mickey's for dinner on everytrip and love it we now do this as our dinner on our last full day in the "world" on every trip.

We have eaten at Cape May for breakfast on one trip and we were not impressed. Just your average buffet.

Since you did not note whether you were interested in breakfast or dinner I would suggest Chef Mickey's for dinner. The other concern is that you might have trouble getting PS for Chef Mickey's only two week out but good luck.

Hope you have a great trip.

We would like to have Chef Mickey's for breakfast sometime because I love Mickey Mouse pancakes.

We have been to the Cape May character breakfast many times. their food is great the character come around often and to every one. We are are kids at heart.

I think it would help if you let us know if you were looking for dinner or breakfast?

If your kids are small, and you are looking for characters, Chef Mickey's is the clear winner for breakfast or dinner. It is a much more "lively" restaurant. The kids will enjoy the napkin twirling and other antics.

For older kids and adults, I feel Cape May is a much better choice. Cape May is one of my favorites. All the clams you care to eat, along with chicken fingers, BB Ribs, peel and eat shrimp, mussels, and one of the best dessert sections among any of the WDW buffets.

Cape May is an excellent buffet!! I have eaten there twice and loved it both times. The second time I ate there, my DD's came too. They are teens and they enjoyed the buffet and loved the huge variety to pick from. This was the dinner buffet.

We did not have PS's for either of these visits. In fact, the second trip there, I had tried to obtain a PS but was told there was nothing till the very end of the night. Well we arrived right around 5 pm and were seated within 10 minutes without any problem! So, even if you cannot get a PS, be sure to try a walk up!

On my next WDW visit I would love to try the breakfast buffet here too. :)

thanks everyone! We are actually looking for the dinner buffet and my kids don't care too much about the characters...they're 5 and 8 but have seen the characters alot...was just wondering which one everyone prefers or if there is a better dinner buffet out there. Thanks~

December will be our 1st Cape May Dinner and we are really looking forward to it. We have done it for breakfast and it's one of our all time favorites. The characters were wonderful and we enjoyed the buffet.
We are probably in the minority but we don't care for Chef Mickey's at all. To us, the food is overrated. Character interaction was excellent one trip and ho-hum the next. Again, just our opinion.

While Cape May is one of my favorites, be sure to look at Boma's also. The food there is excellent. Pretty much depends on what your kids enjoy.

Last trip we did Chef Mickey's dinner and Cape May's breakfast. We loved both. This time around, we are doing Chef Mickey's dinner again, but not Cape May's breakfast. While each meal was great, we loved the character interaction at Chef Mickey's dinner enough to put it on our list to do again.

Like both. took our DN and her fiance to Chef Mickey's this past Wed.PS at 7 was seated at 655.Food was good even though sometimes the dishes sound more exotic than what they were.Noticed they were constantly checking temps of food and replacing items that had been sitting too long.(wish they would have did the same for some items at the concourse steakhouse for our meal there)CM who waited on us was friendly and service was excellent.Minnie accidently skipped our table because Chef Mickey was busy goofing off at our table. No big deal. The characters have been out in full force all over the parks lately and have seen her quite a few times. So after coffee we got up to leave and a CM stopped us and said "We noticed Minnie skipped your table".Step over by the checkerboard wall and out came Minnie and she gave us all a big hug and great photo.Totally unexpected and a pleasant way to end our meal.:)

Hi Kathy....

We really enjoyed our dinner at Cape May Cafe. We were staying at Yacht and Beach, and just sort of wandered in there one night. (This was fairly early in the evening.) Buffet was huge, and great! They have a separate buffet for kids/picky eaters too. Something for everyone, good service, and nice, festive atmosphere, along with good food.

Haven't tried Chef Mickey's, but if it's anything like Goofy's Kitchen in DL, it's a lot of fun, great character interaction - but not great food. So since your kids are a little older and don't really care about characters - I'd go for Cape May.

Have fun!!!!;)

We've done Chef Mickey's dinner 3 times, our first night on each of our summer trips. Last December we surprised the kids with a breakfast there. Last summer we agreed we are "chef Mickey'd out" and are giving the Cape May breakfast a try. It has been highly recommended here and we are at the Swan this time anyhow.
We did the Cape May dinner in 2001 and it was very filling. If anyone in your family likes clams they can have their fill--no one in my family does, but I saw families where each person had a full bucket and was just chowing down! The dessert table there is absolutely awesome, but it is at Chef Mickey's dinner as well.
