Better Transportation SSR or BWV?

That'a a matter of opinion. There have been complaints about both (which I ignore, because all the resorts get complaint threads ab out the transportation. Goes in streaks).

Advantage to SSR:

Near Downtown Disney, so it's a short walk to the MarketPlace bus station. You can get a bus to any resort from there. Especially convenient for those who have ADRs at one of the resorts. (You can also boat or bus to DD from SSR). All transportation to the major parks is by bus.

Advantage BWV:

Walk to EPCOT or MGM. (Or you can take a boat).

Both resorts depend on buses for transportation to the MK & AK.

The key to BWV is that for Epcot and Studios you can avoid Disney transportation by just walking to the park. Otherwise, its bus system is not that great because you share with Swan/Dolphin (two stops there) and sometimes with YC/BC (also two stop) and thus trips can be long. The boats to studios and Epcot are just nice trips if for some reason you do not want to walk, very short trip to and from Epcot, long to and from studios because you stop at YC/BC and S/D going and coming back (although you can just get on or off at S/D via walking over bridge between BWV and S/D and avoid a long trip).

SSR is all buses, except you can walk or boat to DD, that make multiple stops in the resort. As long as they are running often and on time you should be OK. However, a number have complained recently about delays including delays exceeding 40 minutes waiting for a bus.

I really think that bus transportation is luck of the draw. We've had horrible trips at BWV where the buses were always late and crowded - and dream trips where they magically appeared empty when needed.

Eliminating even 1 park (EPCOT) by staying at BWV is well worth it for us. Then again we really spend a lot of time at EPCOT and often walk back for breaks at BWV or BCV. We also do a lot of dining there, so even if we have been to another park during the day-we very well may walk over for an ADR in 15 minutes from our room-where we would leave about an hour before from SSR. Even for DHS we know for a fact how long it will take to get there if we walk, and since we usually have a BW View-one of us will watch the boats from the balcony and let us know when the boat is coming (or just left). As for MK-we usually go during busy times of the year so I can't say for sure always, but we get on and it goes directly to MK (it may have made stops before that), and on the way home, it always stops first at S/D so we just get off and walk over the bridge. AK we only do once and its never been much of a wait for it. Like I said, we hop around a lot, grab FP's for later that day, have ADR's, have our favorites so BWV and BCV give us the best opportunities to minimize waisted time, others may very well simply take a bus to EPCOT (or any park), stay there all day then take the bus back to whatever resort-nothing wrong with that.

We had great bus service at SSR in August. We only waited longer than 20 minutes once and that was coming home from MK EMH at 2am. SSR does not share buses with any other resort and there are 5 stops in the resort. Not a fan of bus-sharing between resorts so I found SSR to be awesome!

We stayed at SSR the last week of January 08 and we had no problem whatsoever with the busses. Our longest wait was at park closing to get a bus back from MK, but of course everyone else was leaving the park, so it was to be expected (and even then it was 15-20 min at the most). We love SSR! For January 09 we are splitting our stay between SSR and BWV so I hope we have the same good luck at BWV. We love AK and I am nervous about what I am reading regarding the bus from BWV to AK. Either way we'll be at Disney so we'll be happy!:goodvibes

We stayed at SSR in June and experienced some bus delays. We talked to some of the bus drivers and they explained that they recently had their routes changed, and there was still a bunch of confusion which caused abnormally long waits, i.e. 40 min waits. I think it sounds like the bugs are all worked out now.

Having stayed at both BWV and SSR and never having rented a car, BWV has the advantage of being able to walk to 2 parks which is huge. This eliminates wait time and allows easy access back to the hotel room. We weren't a big fan of the buses and used the monorail from Epcot to MK. We found the ride to be more enjoyable and the buses were always FREEZING. No matter what you really can't go wrong if you're in Disney! ::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo
