In post #151, retiredhoghead used the *6* code with success. on flyertalk.com they used the *5* code with success.

Ok Here is my question... I have a Van reserved under the Emerald reserve using the 6 code.
I go directly to my van... and head out...
Now will they stop me then and there and say, we are sorry your code is not good and if you want this van your rate is such and such...
OR
upon my returning the car, at the end of my vacation, can they say... opps sorry, that rate is not valid and now you have to pay such in such...
Great news retiredhoghead. Now everyone just needs to stop calling and emailing. As stated on the other boards, "never question a good deal by calling."![]()

Well, if they don't charge your card until the car is returned, and you bring it back damaged, if the code you used isn't public I'm sure they can tell you that since you used an "illegal" code they won't honor the liability waivers.
It might not happen, but I don't know if I'm willing to take the chance when my credit card will cover me as long as I don't take National's plan.
No offense for the answer - I appreciate it but does anyone have a contract from National who is out there renting that says anything regarding the liability and whatnot? I'd think they can't just cancel things once there is a rental agreement - if the agreement is executed (which is is when they let your off the lot with the car) then it is binding as far as I can tell.
Again, no one should take any chances they are not comfortable with but unless there is a statement in the rental agreement saying that insurance has a clause regarding the rate or anything of the kind, I can't imagine they can change it after the fact.
Ok, first let me start with this is my first post, been lurking for years, but this insurance issue has been driving me crazy and finally got me to register and join you all. Can they hold you responsible if you called and asked the agent THREE times if it was okay for you to use this code or if they would be asking you for any additional id, and you were assured that it was ok. It seems that there has been enough confusion that it is possible that the code is open for use, and by them agreeing to reserve the car for you, they can not then just blame you for misreresentation in the end if some type of damage were to occur.
Have a full size on hold with the *6* code, but I am starting to check this forum every hour for updates. Have a back-up res also, leaving in two weeks. Don't really want to spend $65.00 if I do not have to, but sometimes think it may just be worth it to spend it and have no worries.
Thanks again for all of the wonderful information I have got from this board over the years. You folks are truly amazing.
Under contract law, a contract is not binding if there is any misrepresentations and can be recinded, whether or not already executed. There is usually also language to that effect in most contracts. (I deal with insurance, contruction and lease contracts on a daily basis.) As far as how that relates to your question, it depends on whether the law is on their side if they argue misrepresentation for using this code - public code vs private code? Depending on the state, the misrepresetation must also be material to the dispute. I am happyd people are succesful in using this code but I would have a back up plan because they could at anytime require the Travel Solutions employee ID that we all know is a requirement to use this code. If they see all these cars going off of their lot at these low rental rates, resulting in large loss of profits, my bet is that they will start asking for ID. Just be cautious and Good Luck!
I reserved a mid-size emerald aisle Apr 10 (9:30PM) through April 14 (3PM) and thought I was entering the Visa magic code 8572987. When I looked at my reservation closer I realized I had entered 8572957. My wrong code still did the same thing the Visa Magic code is doing, free insurance and all fees included, BUT the wrong code is giving me a rate of $110.62 and the Visa Magic Code is giving me a rate of $161.61! Anyone have any idea what the code 8572957 is???
This was my orginal post when I started this thread a couple weeks ago, I am pleased to announce that the "57" code has been used with my EA reservation and they didn't even blink an eye at it.
I'm sure this has been talked about but I just can't seem to find it...What is coupon code ND2119071Q? I've been on National's site and none of the existing coupons have that number. I also tried it with my existing ressie and it knocked it down another $30. Would love to use it of I could find it and print it.
