which is a better place for a room, on deck 2 cat 12, or deck 6 cat 11??

INMHO if it is an inside cabin - I would choose deck 2. Less motion of the ocean. :guilty: But then that would also depend on where the cabin is located. ON deck 2 your are under deck 3 (DUH) :rotfl: and there are a lot of activities that you may not want to be under. Also - if you are to the front or the back of the ship you are going to get motion no matter what. Being on Deck 6 is more centrally located and all you would have above you is more cabins.

The biggest deciding factor is the location of the cabin. But again this is only my opinion.

I was on deck 2 last time and there was plenty of rocking to be felt. My closet doors kept opening and closing all night. I'm taking duct tape this time! I am trying deck 6 this time b/c it would be closer to everything. Plus last time my DH got a really bad earache and had to go to the dr onboard. Apparently it was due to the pressure, so we don't want to repeat that.

Neither is a bad choice. My preference is deck 6, as I have children in the clubs, and it is very close. I also enjoy taking the stairs, and find this a great spot to go up or down.

Deck 2 is good as well, nothing wrong with either, a matter of choice.. :)

We have been on both deck 6 and deck 2. If you have a veranda, deck 6 is great. If you have a category 9 (porthole) room, deck 2 is good. We stayed in room 2650 for a 7 nite western cruise. Other than some ships noise when docking, it was very quiet. We felt very little motion on deck 2. Hope you have a great cruise. :surfweb:

just off the June 3 western. We were on deck 2 aft Cat 10 and it was VERY noisy. We have also stayed on deck 7 which was VERY quiet. If you have a choice,, I would avoid the deck 2 rooms based on our experience. We we awakened at 5 am on our return day by the noise of the ships docking. The whole cabin shook. We experienced this at each port but not always early in the morning.

I have been on deck 2 mid ships 3 times and loved it.. As Sunshine56 said, middle of the ship is best you don't feel any rocking or motion.

My family just returned from the June 10 Eastern and had rooms 2030 and 2032. We had no noise or rocking! Slept like babies. I was concerned that we were under the Rockin Bar D but guess we weren't. I would stay in the same rooms again. My 3 sons 11, 9 and 7 prefered the Ocean Quest club on deck 3 just above us so it was very convenient. Same for the Walt Disney Theatre.

Ocean Quest is actually on Deck 2 not Deck 3.....it is where the old conference rooms used to be at the bottom of the mid-ship stairs on Deck 2 (you are talking about the kids club area with simulators and stuff, right?). As far as I know there are no kids clubs on Deck 3.

Deck 6 is more centrally located and you can use the stairs. I prefer deck 5,6,7,8. Deck 2 is too low and too far removed. You have to wait for elevators which can be slow and frustrating.

I never understand when people say that Deck 2 is far away from everything....the only thing that you need to take an elevator to are Decks 9 and 10....

Think about it logistically....

Decks 6, 7, 8 are passengers decks...no cruise "activities" and you would have to walk up 2 or 3 decks to the pool deck (deck 9) or Deck 10 for Palo or Spa.

Deck 5 has a few passenger cabins and the kids club and Buena Vista movie theatre (Only 3 flights up from Deck 2)

Deck 4 has Walt Disney Theatre, Mickey Mates, Treasure Ketch, Studio Sea, Shuffle Board, those great comfy Deck 4 chairs outside, Walking/running area, Animator's Palate, Shutters (Only 2 flights up from Deck 2)

Deck 3 has Rockin Bar D (theme nights, Game shows, Bingo), Diversions Pub, Sessions Piano Bar, Promendade Lounge, Internet Cafe, Guest Service, The Atrium (where most of the photos are taken and autographs given plus Chip It Golf, Captain's Cocktain Party, Martini Tasting), Shore Excursion Desk, Parrot Cay, Till We Meet Again Party, Galley Tour, Lumiere's (and I probably forgot a few activities). (Only one flight up from Deck 2)

Deck 2 has the new kids area called Ocean Quest plus passenger cabins

Deck 1 has medical facility and passenger cabins...

So, saying that Deck 2 is too low and too far removed from all the activity is not correct at all...it is actually closer to MORE of everything going on onboard except for things that happen on Decks 9 and 10 and Deck 2 is at least equal in distance to some things as if you were on Deck 6.

And with the elevators...you have to wait for elevators no matter what deck you are on...

We often stay in 2546 which is right down from the mid-ship stairs and we walk to the forward elevators which are hardly ever busy for our trips up to Deck 9 and 10. We walk to everything else.

We have stayed on most decks and I find Deck 2 the most overall convenient, especially when getting on and off the ship in port.

I am going on my first cruise on July 15 :cool1: and I am so glad to read the above post by mmouse. I have been hearing how noisy it is on deck 2, but I am hoping it is not too bad. Actually, I do not mind hearing some ship noise, after all, I would like to feel like I am on a ship. I can't remember our cabin number but they are the very last connecting cabins aft...26something I believe. I do not mind the movement either. I am glad to hear that there will probably be some. :confused3

It sounds like deck 2 is very convenient, and the fact that the children's activities are fairly close is wonderful. I did not realize that Ocean Quest was there. I did not see that on the deck plans. This is new? Where is it on deck 2?

Ocean Quest is a new area on Deck 2....they refurbished some conference rooms and made it into another kids area (though I think it is for older kids, from what I have heard). It is located right at the bottom of the mid-ship stairs on Deck 2 (right near the elevator bank).

I agree. We have stayed on deck 2 and deck 5. We actually preferred deck 2 and rebooked cabin 2022 while onboard. While deck 5 was convenient with our son in the kid's club- we preferred the location of deck 2. I got more excercise using the stairs (more room for yummy snacks and desserts :) )
Also, we noticed that we felt the motion alot less on deck 2. The only noise we heard was from the thrusters when docking.

we were in the SPH room on deck 5 last cruise. We loved it and the location was great but if I couldn't get one I am very happy on Deck 2 cabin 2101.

I also always use the stairs, so deck 2 gives me a bit more exercise to balance off all of the desserts and ice cream on deck 9..
