Better rate for 10 day rental?

For our December trip I have a discounted rate through National's EA with the $20 DC coupon for a total of $278.45 (tax included) for 10 days with an Intermediate car (EA).

Is this a good rate? I am driving my self crazy thinking I can find it for less!!

That is like $27-28 a day with tax included. I keep reading about people getting $21 per day average, is that with the taxes?

Any Advice?

I have $314 for a full-size 10-day from National (11/28-12/7, late return), and that was the best I could do. Since it begins during Thanksgiving weekend, I'm grateful for that. If I redid the reservation today, it would be well over $400, and most competitors are asking $500 and up.

I suspect I could do somewhat better a week later, but I think you're close to the best rate. The best you could hope for would be another 10% off.
