Better Lobster Roll: Columbia Harbor House or Contempo Cafe?

We are planning on attending MNSSHP in the near future. My wife has volunteered to line up early for Jack and Sally and we were planning on getting a Quick Service meal for her while she waits in line. She has expressed an interest for a lobster roll. I know that Columbia Harbor House would be very convenient but have heard wonderful things about the lobster roll at the Contempo Cafe. I would be willing to leave the MK by monorail to go to the Contemporary and walk back with the meal if it is worthwhile. I have two questions:

1. What is your opinion of the lobster roll at Columbia Harbor House compared to the Contempo Cafe's version?

2. Would they let me bring the Contempo Cafe's meal into the MK. I will not have anything but the meal in a sack.

Any help would be appreciaated.

As a New Englander who has had her fair share of lobster rolls, I would not order the one at Columbia Harbour House. That said, I also wouldn't go all the way to the Contempo Cafe to bring one back to the MK. Is there any way you can head there on another day and just get something else at the MK that night? Or could you all go there pre-party?

We are actually at the MK all day. We may just get something else. I was trying to earn brownie points.

Here's a link where Oliver and Craig from the DIS did a review on CHH. Oliver had the lobster roll and wasn't to impressed. You can watch and decide yourself.

We thought the roll at CHH was ok, nothing to be too excited about. For convenience, I would recommend CHH over Contempo.

Hi, Another New Englander who knows Lobster Rolls here. I thought CHH was just OK. Like Oliver, I thought it wasn't bad, just not great. Next time there I will get the tuna sandwich I love.

This could be pretty good ...at least you can see the lobster. This is different from previous years at F&W and looks great.
This will be at Hops and Barley..

1. I haven't had either, but the salmon is very good! I know that's not what you asked, but it's the truth!

2. I have taken food into parks many times. They don't care. Maybe if you took in a huge ice chest, but if you just have food in a bag, I don't think they'll mind. Unless something has changed...I haven't been there since 2015.

I was really a lot of help, wasn't I?

We looked at this as well. We are planning a Food and Wine Day at Epcot and were intrigued by this. It does look good.

I really enjoyed the lobster roll at Columbia Harbor House. Like the atmosphere as well. My mom had the shrimp and she loved it as well!

I would not go out of my way for any lobster roll at WDW.
nor would I touch the CHH one with a 10 foot pole. But the church lobster rolls here on the vineyard I'd walk for ;)

Ok, here is what you do. Take the monorail back to your hotel, get a cab to the airport, fly to Maine, purchase a lobster roll at any restaurant with the word "shack" in it, fly back to Fl and give wifey the lobster roll. Maybe at the Boathouse has a good one, but those lobsters are probably flown in from Maine LOL! Seriously though, you should try the CHH one if she really wants it, people seem to like it.

I agree, Florida is NOT the place to order lobster. I recommend the Clam Shack in Kennebunkport!!

I've tried the one at CHH, it was awful.

Well, us land locked folks here haven't anything to compare it to so we found the one at CHH tasty. I'd order it again. But I've never been to lobster country, guess it's a good thing we have unrefined tastes ;)

Exactly! That's what I was going to say. I haven't had the CHH one, but I used to love the one at Boardwalk Bakery. It seems that the consensus is that it's good if you aren't from the East coast. I'm from the South, so it's probably like my idea of good biscuits and gravy is different from someone else's. lol

Yes! I don't imagine I can go up to the northeast and find southern style sweet tea that passes muster. Or fried okra. Or any manner of other things commonly found here. That doesn't mean that what folks local there like is bad, if that's all they know then it's good to them.
