Better Late than Never...WITH LOTS OF PICS **NEW 04-12 PG 14

omg I got ****** just like Happyhaunt,Vettechick, and horsegirl...I had no idea we could not say v**ina on the dis and I am sooo sorry!

Jeesh...I think we all need to settle down around here, we're starting to make a moderators job pretty hard I suppose!!

sorry once again!

thanks for reading everyone!!!!

With that hot new look you're sportin' you're bound to attract some talent agent somewhere! Loved your report and I can see that tear on your cute Dh. Awrr, that is just so sweet! I can't believe he ever gets grumpy. pirate:

Hey, you joined the blip club! I can see the innocence of your post! That play got alot of 'exposure' all over the Times, and heck, the Marquee had that word up there the entire run of the play right where millions of folks could see it... I didn't know the rules either, and was confused because check out the work that is on post #18 on my thread. Tip- Princess Aurora refers to them as man melons :rotfl2: :rotfl: :lmao:

SWEET lil Javamom!!! I am happy to see you joined MY trip report...I know YOU only read THE BEST trip reports on the DIS so I am honored to be a read for you... :surfweb:
(this is in no way an attempt to bribe Javamom into making me my own special avatar because frankly I don't know what I'd want it to look like...or be of...see I am generic...I don't even have a ride, or wallet, or song or a princess to be named after...only candy and I am sure WW would kick me to the curb if my avatar had a big pic of chocolate!!!) but what you do for others is very special around these boards...are you the tag fairy by any chance??? ;)

LOL. Actually I try to read them all, but can't. I also try not to post comments unless I just feel that I HAVE to. Must confess that as soon as I read this an idea popped right into my head. We'll see what develops...lol

MOMOFMNM, I am so glad I came upon your trip report! Each post has me :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: I love it because you are so real in your experiences, the bloopers, the scoldings, the almost losing your child meanwhile she's having a grand ole time (I can so relate!), the needing alone time, and of course the melon usage! :thumbsup2

Congrats on your weight loss! I just started Jenny Craig in January and lost 18 lbs so far. Hoping for at least another 6-8 before my trip. :teeth:

I love the fanny packs your girls had. Where did you get them and do you have a closer pic of them? Thanks!

monica....

I got them at WalMart and they were 4 dollars each. Thank you for your coments, I really appreciate it.

I don't know if I have any close ups of the fanny packs but IMO they were a LIFE SAVER for me. I didn't have to carry around a purse or backpack the entire trip and these were big enough for small water bottles, pens, autograph book (a small one) and it had a tiny attached chage purse where the girls kept their keys to the world cards and their Disney Dollars.

oh btw great job on the weight loss!!!

I am trying to get back on track with my exercise program but the Dis is distracting me...I joined back at the Y today so I can get back in shape again. Spring Break has been hard for me too because I am eating a lot more foods I normally would not eat so I need to reel myself in again.

It is a journey that never ends to be honest with you. The rewards are great once you get there so keep it up 6 to 8 is REAALLY close!!!

We are about ready to go into metal hell as I recall. The frenzy that is Fantasmic… and dh is once again ticked that we have to get there an hour early but I am hell bent on not repeating the same mistakes 10 times…so we sit and wait. A LONG time.

Thank God the girls had more whirly twirly light up thingies to play with…they actually got pink rose (like Belle rose) light ups. They also had Mars Mud from the dump shop after MS. It was gacky, slimy stuff that keeps kids very interested, especially if they are tactile as my children are. Behind us sits a very seemingly nice family. They have twin girls who proceed to “play” with my kids and eventually somehow end up with every toy I bought for my kids on this trip. And when my dd7 had to ask the girl if she could play with her OWN Mars Mud, I have to interfere.

I am a teacher btw and one thing I do not like is rude children. I know all kids can be rude but it is my profession and my right as an adult to tell them when they are being so…and I do. In a very tactful mom/teacher like voice. And their parents get the clue…and scoot down the bench away from us. I am not one of those rude cranky people but like I said I am a teacher. I teach a Special Education class and we work on manners and behavior every day. Often when we are out in the community on job sites or on outings I will have an adult or employer tell me how well behaved my students are and how lovely their manners are. My kids are hard working and willing to please and I love them. I think ALL people should be taught respect and caring.
So we’ve been waiting for 45 mins now and they announce the show is about to begin. HOOORRRAY everyone shouts with glee. Ummm, am I the only one concerned that there are big storm clouds rollin in and we are all on metal bleachers?? Apparently I am. So it starts to sprinkle and the VOICE comes on and says the show will start in 10 mins. OK great…now the audience wants to do the wave and seeing as though we are from Iowa, we think the wave is a great form of entertainment!!! We wave….in the rain…in the soon to be POURING rain.

HMMMM….lets see…I bought ponchos for this trip and we carried them every single day in our geek pouches (fanny packs)…all days except for TODAY. Orlando forecasters suck, (I know it’s not their fault) every day they called for rain…it rained once out of those three days. Today called for NO RAIN folks, not even a little shower and tonight it manages to pour buckets. Blonde moment once again, and there will be more. Our ponchos are safe and dry along with the light up toy thingies from the dollar store (I spent about 50 bucks on light up toys that week)back in Fiji and I don’t mean the island. So we sit and are soaked, many families (the smart ones) leave. We don’t. We don’t have hoppers so there is no coming back to catch the show until 2006. And I really want to see it, bad! We are soaked and freezing and dd7 starts to cry with blue lips and an “I’m cold.” The rest of us laugh at her, you know guilt and shame are our name. We tell her to suck it up. And she does pretty well with it. Seems like everyone has a poncho but us, and the family from Backwoods, insert any southern state here. Yeah they had no ponchos, the husband just stripped from his fancy wife beater and the mom just laughed in hysterics because “she loves the rain”…in a white Tshirt with no bra. HMMMM…we wait then the voice says “the show will start in 5 mins but to keep an eye out for the weather.” YA THINK? We sit and are really taking a beating with the rain. They cancel the show. Then as we are about to get up to walk out the rain stops, the birds chirp and the skies are clear. And dd9 starts to cry…so do I. We miss the best night time show at WDW according to UOG and it hurts. It hurts bad. And dd7 is wet for nothing. I give her a hug and tell her she really is a trooper and thanks for being so cool. I also tell her she can be the first kid tonight to get some hot chocolate from the DMVC...(see we get one mug for the five of us. i run to the GCH every night five times after the parks to refill the mug for the beverage of their choice, am I caring Mom or what??)

FOR OBVIOUS REASONS I HAVE NO PICS TODAY...Can't take pics in a thunderstorm now can u??

My kids are cool. I love them. They are people others want to be around. DD9 is the fashion model social butterfly with a spelling problem, dd7 is the brainiack that can read at 6th grade level even though she is just in second and prefers to converse with adults, and dd5 seems to have a combo of both brains and social skills (she gets that from me obviously ;) )

I felt like I needed a sentimental moment in my report today because I was over reading ZZubs report and got a real tear jerker. I don't know if Zzub reads my reports but if he is reading I wanted to say thank you for inspiring me today. Because of you, I am done writing trip reports for today and I am going to play dolls and tea party with my girls. We are going to make scrapbooks of our WDW vacation today.

I am a very lucky mom and wife and I just felt like giving thanks today for my many blessings. :grouphug:

I gotta tell you that I am enjoying your report so much. I feel like those women who bought the serial novels, you know the kind.....I keep goiing back to see what happens next on our...oops I mean your... trip.

I also am a fan of those good manners! We have a chart for my DGD and she gets a sticker if she "uses her good manners" and this is a biggie, because yuu see, she needs to fill up her chart if she wants a field trip to Chuckie Cheese.

Anyway, I'm waiting for my next trip fix.

thank you nancy!! that made my day!! :goodvibes

I am glad you enjoy my novel, errr, report and the main thing I get from doing this is just for that reason. I love to relive my family trip through others eyes...I love to tell stories and hopefully spark a memory for another person!

I wish you the best and thank you sincerely for reading! I hope you get your next trip ASAP until then remember your previous trip! We made scrapbooks today to remember ours and it was soooo much fun!!

Here's to you getting back to the World soon!! :cheer2:

Great installment. Wished there were pics, the lightening would only hurt for a little while. I love the fact you have been posting pics with the report. I can picture myself standing in all those spots that way.

I am going only a little OT. I have followed your posts around for months. I am not a stalker, I couldn’t even run if I got caught, but I have visited many threads where you have posted. I love your family photo in your sig, BUUUUUTTTTT….. in that pic you really remind me of a girl from my HS that was SO MEAN. I was having trouble getting past that. You look so different in your trip report photos. Not at all mean. I know, could I be more high school. :teacher:

Keep up the good work. I love trip reports, especially the good ones.

I taught HS (special ed) for years. Please don't let my students read my ramblings.

BTW, your DD's are adorable. Especially after the scolding.

Oh lord, I hope I don’t get shut down…
k, I lied and I'm back with another installment but we had lots of quality time today doing WDW scrapbooks...so I AM a good mother... :lmao:

So my dd5 and I were watching TV today.
A commercial comes on…
She says:
“oh mom, look at the cute, little green lizard!! Remember him a WDW mommy??”

this is when I realize I have not educated my children enough on what I would call “The Classics” from my generation…

I say…
“honey, that’s Kermit the Frog….”

She then says,
“can I get a toyota for my birthday?”

Since when are we (as American’s) into advertising SUV’s to children?? A question to ponder….

Back to the World….

We are all soaking wet and waiting for the bus back to the Poly. The good thing is the bus is not too crowded because no one else was stupid enough to wait in a down pour for a show that would never be shown…except me and my family. Once again I plead, don’t judge from me, learn from me…

Buy hoppers so that you can get to a different park, if , in fact, the same thing happens to you.

Also may I suggest more than 4 full days at WDW. It is just too crazy. We were there every day in the park until close and it was a long day for all of us. I can only assume we were riding the Disney High and that is how we made it through this trip commando style. That and we are mean parents and do not allow rest for our kids…
But in all seriousness we would not have seen anything if we had taken breaks in the middle of the day…
1st we were there in value season…aka the only season we will ever be able to call Poly home…

even while being on the Monorail we would not have had time to get back and forth, and we have older, walking, not whiney kids…who do not nap. I just do not know how people see and do it all. We missed all of World Showcase…unless you count the potty in Germany…or the gal on wheels. We even missed the beloved Maelstrom (it’s a fastpass dontcha know).

I am sad to say I have no funny stories about fights or cussing on the busses. No cell phone conversations to relay…NOPE…not back from MGM anyway but then again at the Poly we were only on a bus twice!

We get back to the Poly and true to my word, I refill the DMVC full of hot chocolate for my dd7…then run back to GCH to retrieve three more orders of hot chocolate (each a separate trip! Cuz we all share the DMVC), a Mickey rice crispy head, and a diet coke. And now you all know my secret to NOT gaining weight during free dining. Share a mug with four other people. It works people…I came back from WDW and met my goal at WW, and I even ate dessert and mickey ice cream bars…
We head down to the beach to catch the Special Hallowishes from the beach because we are too cheap to buy party admission. Honestly I do not think we would have lived through it even if we had tickets. Our visit was just toooo short to do anything but the BARE minimum, and that’s crap….and the reason why I get 10 DAYS this year at WDW!!! Oh yeah…I do…I told ya…I have melons…(and not talkin’ man melons like Grumpy over in Aurora’s report). And they are like watermelons too…which gets me what I want from DH usually. Only he’s not budging on the Poly for 10 days for a total of 3,200 plus tax idea…so we are doing SOG…as close as I can get to the Poly without a Lei and with no room tax and discounted park tickets we have ourselves a very affordable vacation this year…cheaper for 10 days this year than 5 last year.
I’m still secretly upset about missing the Poly…see what you all have done to me? I am totally a resort snob, and that is SOO not like me, or my wallet…

Anyway, WOW is all I can say to Wishes! I can not fathom Disney doing THIS every night of the year for years and years and years…it’s too spectacular…to grand…to amazing to believe! The best fireworks we get around these parts are after the minor league team plays ball every other Friday night. I don’t like sports and those tickets are 7 bucks…so we’ve never been, to the game. Only parked out car in the lot to watch. So needless to say we are astounded by this show. Illuminations was great too, but for some reason Wishes REALLY speaks to my inner soul. It brings out the girl in me, the believer of love, life and romance. I am who I was before a bad divorce, bills, a career, troubles and worries and I love that.
The Hallowishes are even better because you get to hear the villains go at it, and who doesn’t love a Cruella or Malificent?? We all do…and we all love the defeat. Brings up back to our youth, once again. Disney is great about that, dontcha think?
In honor of Wishes here is a picture: sorry but I am 5'2 and always get heads in my shots...I'm short but I'm fiesty...

100_0118.jpg

I wish I had taken more pictures, but next trip I plan to. We also got to see EWP a couple nights.

There is nothing better than swimming in the volcano pool or laying in a hammock on the Poly beach with a drink in hand, tummy full from free dining, and your sweetie holding ya. Nothing better than the expression of wonder and joy on your child’s face. That’s worth rack rate at the Poly any day.

This is one of my favorite pics of WDW: I love it. It says a lot about me dontcha think?? If only Snow White were blonde…then she’d be perfect in every way..oh yeah…she’d have to have a tan too…and a c section scar…then we could be twins, dontcha think??

100_0027.jpg

We head back to our wonderful room in Fiji 2307…with no balcony at 320 a night…no balcony…but the beds are great and we are all sleepy…here we are relaxing at the Poly…
You get FREE coffee and Newspapers at the Poly btw…just FYI incase the price of a daily newspaper puts you over budget…stay at the Poly and you get one FREE! We are really stickin it to the man, aren’t we?? Free dining, free leis, free newspaper, free coffee…you’d think we were in the aisles of Costco wouldn’t ya??? Awesome!!
100_0137.jpg

Stay tuned for the next adventure in AK or “I had no idea hippos did it like that…” or… “FINALLY we have rain AND ponchos!!”

ahhh

thank you!!

I am sorry I reminded you of someone mean!! I don't bite...hard.... and I wasn't a "mean girl" in high school either...I was a drama queen..star in FAME...and I would like to think I was very nice! :wizard:

Just to stay OT here: one of my students with Downs went to WDW over Thanksgiving break and came back with a BUZZ picture, you know, those fancy WDW ones they sell at the end of the ride? Obviously, they make more $$ than I do, but then again, I teach...
anyway it is really cool to talk with him about WDW...It is something we share in the class that no one else does because no one else but us has been...he can't tell me what resort he stayed at, the name of the restaurants he ate at, or even the name of his favorite ride...But he can DESCRIBE them to me then I guess them...and this is what he says
he stayed at the Contemporary
he liked to eat at CM's because they have big ice cream
and his favorite ride is Buzz or Space or Splash Mountain....
isn't that cool? I love my job!

Hey! So you WERE there the same night as us! I done got onto DH bout warin' them there wafbeaters!

Just kidding! Really, I am. That was so not us. What night were you at Fantasmic? I think I saw on your first post that your trip started the 28th of September? What was that, a Wednesday? Is that right?
Just trying to figure out your timeline and if we were there at the same time.

Thanks for the installments. Your trip report's great. I feel like I'm back there now!

Keep em comin'!

yes it was Saturday I think...but I think it was October 2nd...but I will have to double check my dates again!!

thanks for reading!!

lala couldn't have been the same day as you because it got CANCELLED when we were there but you got to see it!! :lmao: what were we thinking?? :rotfl2:

I appreciate your perspective on family. The memories we create with our families are what makes a Disney vacation such a special one. Our most treasured vacations are ones that involve Disney. And every family has their own funny quirks.

P.S. Thanks for the inspiration to start my own trip report thread. I figure the best way to practice for my WDW trip report is to write one from my last visit to DL.

Gosh, I wish I had watermelons. I heard that they come in handy when you need something. Funny, my definition of need and want changes with every action packed Disney novel that I read.....anyway, I was just thinking I would keep adding capers to every dish I cook for my DH until he also "needs" to go to Disney and I'll keep "experimenting" with his food ( did I just see a nice health recipe for a spinich salad with sundried tomatoes?" until I have a 10 day stay for 10 days, and continue to learn how to add whole grains to all of his breads and muffins until he needs to stay at the Poly for the entire time. If tis does not work, I will haul out my vitamix and make some nice whole vegetable juice for him in place of his nice 7 grain muffin that he gets for his breakfast treat. :rotfl:

Anyway, WOW is all I can say to Wishes! I can not fathom Disney doing THIS every night of the year for years and years and years…it’s too spectacular…to grand…to amazing to believe!

All kidding aside, this is the reason we are going back. We "need" to experience the joy this magical wonderland brought to our family, young and older, once again.

Allright, what day did you arrive in Disneyworld? Was it the 28th? I think I remember seeing that as your arrival date? Wednesday? Cause if so, we were at MK too for that EMH where you forgot your wristbands. I'm looking for our big, sweaty group in your pictures.

Keep em comin, girl.
