Better late than never! Disney Magic Western-April 18-25 UPDATE-9/6

Awww...that is the saddest part of our cruise, when we have to put our luggage outside our door. Just by doing that makes me feel like the vacation is over all too soon.

Love the hammock pics! Too cute. :lovestruc I can't believe the bike path goes out THAT far! You guys got some great shots.

I know that was SO SAD! I felt like I didn't get to really enjoy the trip and then it was over! :0( Thank you! The bike path was neat! :goodvibes

So we have the same Eeyore swimsuit, and we both have that glass slipper tank too! We have very good taste in clothes, LOL.

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: That is TOO funny!!!

Do you have the light blue tank too with the slipper on it? They both came out at the same time but I can't remember what it says but it's cute!!

you go girlie running the 5K and NOT feeling well :thumbsup2 I am so glad you got to feeling better.

I cannot tell you how much I love all your pics! The 2 of you are precious.

your pics show just how HUGE CC really is when walking around...what time was it desserted there? I know couples like us w/ kids (5 & 7) probably want to be closer to the ship end so the trek back is not so bad but it looks like the further you went down the island the more privacy you got. hmmmm will have to see if my family can coax me into moving it along down the island some....

as I mentioned your report has made me reconsider taking sea bands....just in case...w/ both kids prone to motion sickness in the car...I wonder if they have KIDS sea bands???

well a great big thank you for posting...cannot wait for the last of your TR!!
:woohoo: 17 days for us then we board the MAGIC!

Looks you had an amazing day on Castaway Cay. The weather looked absolutely beautiful, I think i've only ever been once when it has rained or become overcast.

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: That is TOO funny!!!

Do you have the light blue tank too with the slipper on it? They both came out at the same time but I can't remember what it says but it's cute!!
I have quite a few Cinderella shirts, I think one of them's blue. I moved a few months ago, and a lot of my clothes are at my parents house, and I think the rest of my Cinderella shirts are there, otherwise I'd check.

What a trooper you are! I can't believe you ran the CC 5K then practically ran around the island to change your sting ray time and THEN rented a bike! You go girl!! :goodvibes

CC day is so bittersweet. Its the best port to stop at but its also the last full day on board. :sad2:

Oh my gosh Karen, I can't believe that your trippie is almost over ???!!!! What am I going to do, I just love your trip reports, they are the very best. Castaway Cay looks so amazing, maybe someday I will get to visit there, but my first goal when I am able to travel again and money allows is Disneyland, but maybe someday a Disney Cruise. I love Mount Rustmore and The Flying Dutchman, how cool. When is your trip in Sept.??? Hopefully you will be starting that before I know it. Oh wait, maybe I am wrong, is your trip to WDW in Sept. or Dec.??? Yikes, I can't remember. If it isn't until Dec. I am going to have a long wait. Can't wait to read and see all about your last night. How sad you had to put your suitcases outside the door. Such a shame!!!:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

Karen -
I missed so much, we were on vacation (and not to a Disney destination...wow, what a difference for the parent of a food allergy kid, I will take Disney any day - just so wonderful for that situation)
I can't believe how sick you were, but I am so glad you found Richard Simmons-wear when you needed it!;) I always get car sick, I wonder if they would help me for that??? We once did 2 whale watching cruises in Mexico and on the first I was fine, on the second which was a bit choppier, I was so ill! I can't imagine feeling like that for days...
I am sorry to see your report end - you have given me so much info to think over...
When is your trip to WL? I am so jealous as that is the one place I have wanted to stay at and no one in my family ever wants to stay there too:confused: I am hoping that our upcoming stay at GCH will win DH over to rustic lodge type Disney resorts!
Great job doing the 5K, esp after not feeling well!
Happy belated b-day!

I think I am going to go into serious withdrawal when this report is over, I've loved every minute of it! Those are probably the best viewpoints I"ve ever seen of the whole island, really great pictures. So you gotta do us a favor...when you start your next report (you will be doing one from DW, yes, oh please say yes), can you give us a heads up on this report so we get an email notification that the next one is about to start? wow, is that confusing, I hope not. I don't really check the trip reports from DW at all, just the cruise ones. That would be so great! thanks for all you've done for us, it has been so awesome.:thumbsup2

You rock girl! Way to suck it up and finish the cruise with style! I almost missed the one part of your report were you were sick and the seabands helped!

Glad I went back and checked, I could tell I missed an update somewhere!

I have two teens who get motion sickness so I'm off to buy the bands at the local pharmacy.

CC looks as awesome as everyone says. The galley tour seems to get the same overall reviews everytime I read about it; cool to see it all but can't hear much of what is said? oh well, think I still want to do it. sorry you couldn't eat the cookies.

Thanks for sharing your trip with us. I just noticed several of my cruisemates (we sail on 9/19 on the West. Carrib) are reading along too. We are gonna be one informed bunch!

Really enjoying your report! So sorry you weren't feeling well but glad you found something that helped. We've been on 5 or 6 cruises and and luckily no one has ever gotten sick, but I definitely go prepared. After reading your success with the Seabands, I decided to add them to our arsenal of "just in case" weapons. I picked up a pair today along with Bonine and Seabands ginger gum. Hopefully we won't need them in Oct, but if we do....;) BTW - I got the bands at Walgreens and they were $11.49 so looks like the $$ you paid wasn't that bad..

Can't wait to read more and thanks for the tip about the zip lock for the camera :)

Thank you!!! It was REALLY early when it was still kind of desserted! We went along the bike path about 10 a.m. The 5K was right as they let you off the ship so that took about 30-45 minutes then I changed and went straight back out there. It was still early. Those sea bands aren't that big...I'm sure they would work for a kid as well! I'm sure it's no longer 17 days any more for your trip!!!! How exciting!!!

I have quite a few Cinderella shirts, I think one of them's blue. I moved a few months ago, and a lot of my clothes are at my parents house, and I think the rest of my Cinderella shirts are there, otherwise I'd check.

lol that's funny that we have a similar taste in clothing!! hehe!

Looks you had an amazing day on Castaway Cay. The weather looked absolutely beautiful, I think i've only ever been once when it has rained or become overcast.

The weather was SO nice! I was glad to have had good weather that day cause that's the report I get from most people...it was cloudy or rainy! :thumbsup2

What a trooper you are! I can't believe you ran the CC 5K then practically ran around the island to change your sting ray time and THEN rented a bike! You go girl!! :goodvibes

CC day is so bittersweet. Its the best port to stop at but its also the last full day on board. :sad2:

lol thank you!!! I really wasn't feeling bad at all that day! It was a nice change!!! I had slept so much the days before I was energized! :rotfl2: I completely agree about it being bittersweet!!! I want to do a doubledip trip sometime...I would CC every stop! Just keep us docked there! :rotfl2:

I know it was so quick! Awww thank you I'm galad you like the reports!!!!! You definitely need to do DL first! It's so cool out there! I'd rank that above the DCL but I did love DCL! Our trip in September is in only EIGHT DAAAAAAAYS!!!!! Woohooo! I'm super excited! I know I don't have a PTR but I definitely will write a TR!!!! And I will start it soon, too! lol! I think the suitcase out the door was the saddest part! I hated that!!!

Hope you enjoyed your vacation!!!! I bet the sea bands would help you with car sickness! I haven't tried them for that but I've heard of people who did! The trip to WL is in EIGHT DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so excited you just don't even know!!! Oh yes definitely...GCH reminded me a LOT of WL! I'll keep my fingers crossed that it wins him over, too! :goodvibes Thanks so much!!!!

lol I'm glad you found the update! Hope those bands work!!! You'll have to let me know! I could hear what was being said on the Galley Tour but I was so sick to my stomach I just wanted out of there. I remember him talking about the crew and their hours and how the keep the kitchen clean. It was quick...only 15 or 20 minutes so it's not like it took up a lot of time! Y'all are going to have FUN!!!! :goodvibes

I'm going to try to finish this off today so this next update will be a LONG one!!!

April 24, 2009 - Castaway Cay day continued

cruise898.jpg

After we finished packing, we walked around a little more and took a few pictures of things we had missed.

cruise899.jpg

These are all in the gift shop windows

cruise900.jpg

Before we knew it, it was time for "Remember the Magic" in the Walt Disney Theatre. Now, we had seen "Disney Dreams" the night before and at the end, it made me cry! It was such a great show! So I figured that was the big hoopla no more great stuff......but I was totally wrong!!!!!

cruise880.jpg

The show started off with a hypnotist which I dont' know if I believe that stuff or not but it was entertaining!

Then we moved on with "Remember the Magic"

cruise881.jpg

What a FABULOUS show! My favorite of the week by far!

cruise882.jpg

Anne Marie and Peter Pan from Disney Dreams were in this one too. Oh my gosh I was BALLING like a baby! I was so sad our cruise was over and this show was very sentimental so it really got to me! lol! They also played Bryan McNight's song "Remember the Magic" and I cry every time I hear that song!

cruise883.jpg

cruise884.jpg

cruise885.jpg

Too amazing for words!!!! Seriously!

After the show, we went out on the balcony to watch the sunset!

cruise901.jpg

As of yet, we still hadn't watched one. I wanted to get up and watch a sunrise and then watch a sunset but oh well!

cruise902.jpg

cruise903.jpg

cruise904.jpg

cruise905.jpg

cruise924.jpg

That night for dinner was the "Till we Meet Again" celebration! We were in Animators Palate...we seemed to be in there a LOT!

cruise906.jpg

cruise910.jpg

Our dinner partners had made reservations for Palo that night and we were all alone so we joined at the table next to us and some fellow DISer friends!!

cruise911.jpg

Castlegazer and I!

cruise912.jpg

FINALLY I could take pictures of my food and not get wierd looks! Her kids were hilarious....they would roll their eyes and push their plate to her cause the knew she wanted pictures before they even touched their food! :)

cruise913.jpg

cruise914.jpg

cruise915.jpg

This dessert was AMAZING!!!

Survey

cruise929.jpg

They had something in the lobby late that night but I can't remember what it was called "A Kiss Goodnight" mabye or something like that? Anyway, we went to see what it was all about!

cruise930.jpg

Cruise Staff

cruise931.jpg

Everyone saying goodbye!

cruise932.jpg

Anne Marie and Peter

cruise933.jpg

Mickey and his gang

cruise934.jpg

They all went out for about 10 minutes to take pictures, then went back on stage. I told Peter and Anne Marie that they made me cry and they freaked out "OH we don't like to make people CRY!" We don't like tears! It was funny! I had to explain that they were happy tears! lol!

cruise935.jpg

cruise936.jpg

They all sang "Now it's time to say goodbye...to all our compnay...." Then they sign languaged M-I-C-K-E-Y...etc. It was so cute!

cruise937.jpg

cruise938.jpg

cruise939.jpg

cruise940.jpg

They also threw pixie dust in the air!!!

cruise941.jpg

cruise942.jpg

We went back to our room all sad and depressed! lol! Wait no actually we tried out something in Sessions but they wanted Jason on stage and he refused so we left! :)

cruise943.jpg

HE could actually lay on the couch for once! Haha!

Saturday, April 25, 2009 - Dis-embark Day! :0(

We woke up that morning very sad. I kept reminding myself that we still had a night at AKL but I knew our vacation was over. It was really sad.

cruise944.jpg

This was on the TV when we woke up...back in port! Boo.

cruise945.jpg

Getting the final things together

cruise946.jpg

I was being silly.....I kept saying "I'm so sad I have to throw my balloon hat away!" :rotfl2:

So we met up with our tablemates for the final time for breakfast. They were not flying out until 6 p.m. so they were trying to kill as much time as possible and stay on board the ship as long as they could. We however had a very limited time frame. We couldn't get into breakfast until 8 a.m. and we had to meet our AKL bus at 8:45 a.m. It's not enough time at all!!! Breakfast was good...I couldn't remember much of what I had though. I didn't know until later that we could have eaten at Topsiders but we did want to tell our people goodbye!

Anyway, we told our favorite table mates goodbye and that we'd stay in touch. We swapped email addresses and have heard from them a little bit since we've been back!

cruise947.jpg

This is what we got to see when getting off the boat! Sad times!

cruise948.jpg

Those things on the wall on the other side say welcome aboard. I had no idea this was on the other side of them. :0(

So we hurried as fast as we could through customs which really didn't take all that long and we got our luggage as fast as we could. We were in super hurry so that's why I don't have any pictures!

As we got outside, we saw that our bus was just about to pull out! We flagged down the CM working outside the bus and he made the lady driving it stop. Well, she was MAD and got an attitude and got all huffy! Excuse me ma'am but seriously? You can wait just a few minutes!

Anyway, she boarded our luggage and off we go to AKL!!!

cruise949.jpg

The view leaving! Sad times....

I think I remember watching Enchanted on the way to AKL. Yeah that was it!

cruise950.jpg

The best pictures I could get of the signs! lol!

cruise951.jpg

cruise952.jpg

The first time I got to see the new Celebration stuff! It was still the old theme when we went in January!

cruise953.jpg

We pulled in the back way to AKL

cruise954.jpg

Here we are! So beautiful and breathtaking!

We checked in and were told that we got UPGRADED to a pool view! Yay!!!

Our room wasn't ready of course so we walked around and enjoyed the view. By this point, I was starting to feel a little funny again. I finally figured out (like a month ago) what it was. I was nauseated on the ship all week and was trying to drink sprite/ginger ale cause I thought it would help. Well, all of that sugar makes my stomach hurt and I can't have cokes at all now because that's what they do to me. So what I thought would help me was only making it worse! lol! Sooo, I had a Ginger Ale at breakfast that morning and my stomach was starting to bother me. Go figure...I can eat all the ice cream I want and not have any problems. Now how does that make sense? lol!

cruise955.jpg

Anyway, so we walked around taking pictures. The ground was still moving and I kept telling Jason that! Haah!

cruise956.jpg

cruise957.jpg

cruise958.jpg

I loved this!

cruise959.jpg

cruise961.jpg

...........................CONT............................

......................CONT.....................

cruise971.jpg

We saw this outside of Boma. Well, Jason's Aunt and Uncle were Missionaries to Africa and they speak fluent Swahili. We thought we'd call and ask.

cruise960.jpg

Haha Jason on the phone talking to his Aunt!

His Aunt said "Stove" so we went to tell the CM that and she said "No...it's the Cooking Place". Well DUH I knew that was the rest of the name to the Jiko Restaurant! lol! Stupid.

cruise962.jpg

cruise963.jpg

cruise964.jpg

cruise965.jpg

Eggs!

cruise966.jpg

cruise967.jpg

cruise968.jpg

Pretty flowers

cruise969.jpg

cruise970.jpg

After we walked around for a while, we decided to get on a bus and visit Downtown Disney!

cruise972.jpg

It was here while waiting on a bus that my beloved camera fell of the bench and the lens broke internally. I was so UPSET! I definitely had insurance on it but what good was that going to do for me now? The flash on it broke when we were in California (DL) and now, the lens broke! Well better this day than the week before! lol!

Sooo, thank goodness I had my little point and shoot camera with me, too!

cruise973.jpg

We of course went to Ghirardelli. My stomach was still hurting but I wasn't passing up my ice cream! lol!

cruise974.jpg

What Heather and I got in January that was SO GOOD!!! It's an ice cream shake with their chocolate caramel pieces mixed in! YUM!!!!

cruise975.jpg

Love this!

cruise976.jpg

After that we walked into World of Disney and guess what? GASP...I didn't buy ANYTHING!! :rotfl2:

cruise977.jpg

We decided since my stomach was bothering me to just sit and people watch.

cruise978.jpg

So Jason said...if that's Princess Aurora Sleeping Beauty whatever there........

cruise979.jpg

Then who is that princess over on the other side? :rotfl2: He's so crazy!

cruise980.jpg

Of course we had to make a stop at Goofys and get some RCTs!!!!!!

cruise981.jpg

I took that time to check into our flight for the following day and we headed back to the hotel to see if our room was ready. I wanted to lay down since I wasn't feeling so great.

...................CONT...................

...........................CONT.............................

We went back to the hotel with our goodies and I took a long nap hoping I'd feel better. Well, I did when I woke up but then I sat up and it hit me again like a ton of bricks. I was so upset that I was sick this entire trip.

cruise982.jpg

I took some pictures of the room first....

cruise983.jpg

When I opened the drawer to the bedside table, it was FULL of some little kids toys! lol!

cruise984.jpg

cruise985.jpg

cruise986.jpg

Our view

cruise987.jpg

cruise988.jpg

Ok this is what grossed me out..............

I was taking pictures in the bathroom and I looked up and there was this washcloth hanging on the shower rod still DAMP! Ewww

cruise989.jpg

Then I looked down on the floor and discovered a piece of a broken Dorito chip. Lovely.

cruise990.jpg

Anyway...

I FINALLY figured out what was bothering my stomach. Apparently, I have stomach issues (IBS). Ok so I was drinking sprite/ginger ale all week to help my nausea but that was only making me worse. I cannot cannot cannot have any type of carbonated beverage because it's just that my stomach is bloated and PAINFUL. Awful feeling. So NOW I know what not to drink/eat...lol! Hopefully I'll be safe in September.

Anyway, we got up and headed downstairs for Boma....

cruise991.jpg

Our ADR was for 5:30 p.m. They knew we were celebrating our 2nd Anniversary because I saw it noted but no one said a word to us. I was not feeling so great so at that point, I really didn't care.

cruise992.jpg

I of course not knowing at the time had a few glasses of Sprite. Won't do that again!

cruise993.jpg

The place was crowded and the line for the buffet was LONG! I waited until Jason got closer to the front and then I joined him.

cruise994.jpg

cruise995.jpg

Food!

cruise996.jpg

My dessert plate. Sorry to all of those of you who are in love with Zebra Domes. I was excited to try it but I wasn't impressed at all! I only took a bite!

cruise997.jpg

Instead of dessert, Jason went back for the important stuff! :rotfl2:

No mention was ever made of our Anniversary. I didn't realize it until after it was all said and done. Oh well.

Overall we enjoyed Boma but we don't know if we would go back. AKL is gorgeous but it's just so far away from everything.

On our way back up to the room..............

cruise1010.jpg

I found some Hidden Mickeys in the carpet!

cruise1011.jpg

When we opened the door to our room, we had this waiting for us on the bed!
