Better Dates to go?

Due to college break I am deciding between the week before Christmas, or the week of January 1-6. Opinions on when would be better? Not sure if the pre Christmas crowd or pre marathon crowd is worse?

I'd choose the week before Christmas, just because I like Christmas at Disney.

This would be my choice as well. We've never been the first week of January, but have been the week before Christmas and it's a great time to go with all the holiday festivities going on.

They will still have the Christmas stuff up the first week of January. I prefer the marathon crowd because their schedule is more predictable. For example, you know the marathon is at EPCOT on so and so day at so and so time. Therefore, you would know to avoid EPCOT that day. Also, most marathoners linger for 1 or 2 days before/after the marathon to make a little vacation out of it. People before Christmas are going intentionally for vacation and their moves are unpredictable. Also most kids start up school again, so less chance of running into kids and parents. Just my two cents.

Agreeing with others. I've been during both dates and crowds are similar and on the low side. Either way, for both of your dates, all the Christmas decorations will still be up including the castle lights :)

We've been during both, and I preferred the week before Christmas. I wasn't a fan of seeing the christmas decorations AFTER Christmas. I know that's probably just my personal quirk. ;) I found our trip the first week of January to be less crowded, though.
