Beth's Journal-Bring It!

Hi All,

I hate comcast. Our internet is down more than it is up lately.

You will all be amazed to hear that I actually have made it to the Y 2 days in a row. Yesterday was weights and 30 minutes on the glider. Today was 40 minutes on the glider. I am starting slowly. I was surprised that I haven't lost much strength. I can still lift what I was, but my conditioning is way down. I'll get it back. One thing I don't like is that they have rearranged the machines. The gliders are in front with bikes behind. This means that the people on the bikes behind me are eyelevel with MY behind. Ugh.
Meals yesterday were ok. A few more carbs than I want, but I am heaed in the right direction. Need to work on water though. I am on my 3rd glass today. katie loves her new tap class.

Plan for today...
Hit the Y-done.
'Walk Pez-done.
Pick up Katie.
200 dentist appointment for Katie.
Start the neverending cleaning cycle.
Make dinner.
RELAX TONIGHT ON THE WISH JOURNLS>

Thanks for listening to my babbling,
Beth

10:00PM
Well, Katie's dentist had to cancel. It was so nice of them not to let me know.

I was completely OP today for water, food, and exercise. Small victories.
I'm off to bed.

Hey, Beth, how are you today? Did Katie have her sale yesterday? How did it go?

Are you working out again today or taking a bit of a rest? I just have to say this: don't overdo it, OK? Really, now. Take it slowly. I did get my first chuckle of the day, though, from reading about where they've positioned the gliders in the gym. :rotfl:

Have a good Wednesday--
Erin

Beth, I'd definitely have to say something to the staff at the Y about the gliders being in front of the bikes - that is just not a good idea! :p It just seems like a "bum" situation <hee hee>!

I hope Katie's sale went well. It's wonderful that she is so willing to give her time and talents to help raise money for Hurricane Katrina victims.

Poor Pez! I hope he has that "lampshade" off by now. We avoided it with Maya. The vet suggested using a Qtip and rubbing Vicks in a circle around the incision. She hated the smell and left her incision alone. Give Pez a scratch behind the ear from me.

Hope you have a wonderful Wednesday!

Katie's sale earned $18. She is also taking $12 out of her piggy bank for a grand total of $30. Not bad for a 5 year old. I am really proud of her. She worked hard on the sale.

Erin, I am working out M-F, but I am not pushing myself right now. My goal at the moment is to get back in the routine of things. I am giving myself 2 weeks before I step it up. No sense in burning out right now. I am also playing with my diet a bit. I am still low crb, but I am adding a few extra carbs. I am drinking more milk and eating more fruit. I am not really looking for any weightloss until I figure out the die and step up the exercise.

Doe, Pez had adjusted to the lampshade. He was going straight for the incision despite the Vicks. Better safe than sorry. It is also a plus for me. He treats me like Mommy dog. He was mouthing my hands incessantly despite all my efforts to stop it. The lampshade has helped. He seems to be broken of the habit now

Today has gone well. My allergies are horrible, but I am dealing with it. I had found over the last few days tht just having cereal for breakfast, I was hungry after my workout. Today I had my SBD cereal and 2 scrambled eggs. It sees to be the right mix of protein and carbs. It was a lot of food, but I was hungry this morning. I wasn't hungry until lunch, and I didn't poop out during my workout.. This is my plan for breakfast from now on. I may substitute a lc waffle now and then, but I really enjoy the cereal.
Meals:
B: SBD cereal, eggs, and green tea.
L: Ham/cheese rollups and apple with peanut butter.
S: SFV latte.
D: Omelet with ham, cheese, onion, and green pepper.
64 oz of water so far. I will have at least another 24 before bed.
I did 2 weight circuits and 45 minutes on the treadmill. I plan to substitute treddie for the glider every Wednesday. Katie had ballet today. I am so glad she is back in dance.

I need some honest opinions ladies. Won's Dad wants Katie to attend Korean school. I agreed with the stipulation that Won attend and be on premises at all time. I dont trust PG. She went last week, and she enjoyed it. What bothers me is that they will not call her Katie. They are insisting that we come up with a Korean name to be used in the classroom. This bothers me. Had I wanted her to have a Korean name, I would have included it in her name. It seems that her last name is Korean enough. It really bothers me. I am feeling like they think her Irish name isn't good enough. Am I overreacting? I told you to be honest.

Ok, I need to get started on dinner. I'll check into journals tonight.

Take care,
Beth

Beth, thought I'd put in my thoughts on the Korean name for Korean school.

I can understand how you'd be upset by this and see it as personal. However, in every language class that I had in school and that my kids had in school, everyone was asked to pick a name from that language to use in the classroom. Some kids had English names that easily translated or were original to that language. Others had to just pick a name that appealed to them. It wasn't a "forever" name or any reflection on the names their parents had chosen for them. It was just one more way to help them feel a part of the new language.

I bet Katie would enjoy hearing a few different Korean names and picking one that she likes. Think of it like picking a Halloween costume - a name that she can "adopt" during Korean school.

Beth:

I'm glad the Y reopened and you seem to back to your busy self (try not to be too busy).

Many of my students have ethnic nicknames...I'm trying to call them what they want to be called and are comfortable with. It is amazing the amount of hyphenated names! Sometimes there are four surnames listed and hyphenated (with middle names that are family names that sound like last names). I agree with Doreen - Katie could choose a name that her own just for school. She will feel like she belongs and it will help her learn the language better. (I'm with you though, never got to go to Scandanavian school...unless the two classes I had on Scand literature and culture counts.)

Poor Pez! He will heal fast. Niko was fixed at 9 weeks old and fortunately he didn't need a collar. But poor Tilda needed to have her stitches re-done because she would keep from jumping up on things.

I cannot believe that began a program in your hospital with the acronym RAT. Can you imagine a patient's family overhearing, "everything is Okay, the RATs are on the way."

Well back to my piles of homework to grade.

-Laurie :sunny:

hi beth--
hope you have a great week!
i dunno if its the same thing, but when i was in spanish classes, they called me isabella...nothing even close to my name, but thats what i was, just in that class..dunno if that helps though :)

Thanks guys,

I know in my hert that it really shouldn't matter. We got so much pressure to name Katie a Korean name when I was pregnant that it still bothers me. I will let it go.

A friend of min ust emailed me a link. She knows how crazy I am about Disney and Hary Potter. She is a huge Potter fan and reads fanfics. This one is about Magic in the Muggle world ad you find out that Walt Disney was a squib. It is cute, and I thought I would share.

Beth

Hi, Beth! Just wanted to stop by and say "hi!". Sorry I have been MIA.

It sounds like Pez is doing so much better. I'm glad! [<-- that one is for Pez!]

I am glad you are enjoying getting back into the exercise routine, and that you are not putting an insane amount of pressure on yourself to go over the top ;) I am always so impressed with how much you manage to squeeze into a day! :teeth:

I am with Doreen and others re: the Korean name just for the classroom. I got the same kind of pressure from my old-world italian parents when we chose Jennifer and Andrew, but they have both had to adopt names in their spanish classes and even enjoy using them around home. You may find that Katie will enjoy hearing her classroom name outside the classroom and I guess you are sensitive to that. I hope it won't cause any heartache for you. We explained to our kids that we felt their names were magical because every "Jennifer" and "Andrew" we met was kind, smart, and beautiful/handsome. We also told them we wanted them to have some choices of when to use nicknames or their full, formal names, and we wanted them to be able to find some personalized items throughout their lives. I think they are both very appreciative of the names we chose. As Katie gets older, I am sure she will enjoy the gorgeous name you picked for her.

Have a great day, sweetie!

Hi Beth,

I just got caught up on your journal. I am so sorry you have been through so much :grouphug: I'm glad you are well on the road to recovery and feeling good about your exercise. Slow and steady wins the race.

:wizard: :wizard: :wizard: for Pez! Poor thing!

Sending :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: your way :)

I managed to get everything done. we had a great time at dinner. We ended up at LaShsh. Awesome arabic food. I had the hoummus and veggie appetizer. Higher carbs than I would have liked, but I didn't have any of the warm pita or rice. Small victories.

I start my 3 12 hour shifts tomorrow. I think Katie is getting sick, so I know tht she will be able to nap tomorrow.
Plan for the day....
Hit the Y for weights and cardio.
NAP.
Work.

I will be working/sleeping until Monday. I get off work at 8AM Monday. I will have my workout clothes with me. I may do some cardio, or not. We'll see. Monday looks like a killer. I pick Katie up at 1145. Short nap. Tap class 545-630. Drop Katie off at home. PTO meeting at 700. It is the 1st meeting, so it will last forever. Come home and collapse. Caffiene is my best friend. I will not make it to journals until Tuesday in all likelihood.

Take care and have a great weekend.

I will check in with tomorrow's WI.

Beth

Huh, I didn't expct that one. Weight 225. I am up 1. pounds. I've already said to myself, water retention muscle weighs more, etc. Still no what I wanted to see today.

Hi Beth,

I am sending a lot of prayers and :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: your way for the weekend ahead. I hope that you are able to squeeze some quality sleep time in each day. :goodvibes

Take care!

Good Morning!!! Happy Friday!!!

Sending :wizard: to get you through the weekend! All hail the caffeine!!!

I hope Katie feels better soon, poor dear...

Have a wonderful day!!!

Warning this is going to be long....

I agreed to let Katie go to Korean schol with a Korean name. Well, guess what? Tradition ditates her name should be Jin Young. Sorry, I WILL NOT HAVE MY DAUGHTER CARRYING MY MIL's FIRST NAME. Won and I have a huge agrument about how I am overreacting, it would embarrass my FIL, if that isn't the name she uses, it isn't a big deal etc. I said ANY other name. I even gave him a webite with Korean names. Then I had to go to work. We were swamped, short staffed, and had a VIP. Yeah! She is my patient. When her son tells me that I need to take extra special care of her. I nodded, and nicely told hm that I treat EVERY patient as a VIP. She will be provided with the very best care that I can provide. He wasn't happy with me, and got the nursing supervisor involved. Oh well. Well, my 2nd patient (had 3 all weekend because of short staffing) codes at change of shift, so I didn't get out of work until after 9AM. Won already took Katie to Korean school. Yep, you guessed it. They used Jin Young. I am so hurt and furious over this. It is not just 4 hours every Saturday. every kid in that class will know her as Jin Young. In the Korean community, she will be Jin Young. She will have the name of the ***** that tried to kill me, who kidnapped and then attempted to kidnap my child, and the woman who ended up getting Child protective services involved in my life. Katie is all excited because Won sold her on the tradition and honor part of it. She likes the name. My hands are tied now. I don't know how I can forgive Won for taking the easy way out aain. He put his father's feeling before mine again. So we argue again jut before I head to work. Work wa again hellish. We ended up getting security into the unit to control some crackheads that came to visit a patient. yeah, I love my job. Also more political junk. Sunday Won wakes me at 2PM because he can't find Katie's soccer shirt. It isn't in her dresser. Umm....did you look in the laundry basket sitting NEXT to the dresser. Of course not. Pez also managed to get upstairsand wake me up. Total sleep Sunday 3. hours. Katie has a cold. He knew that her meds were running out. Rite Aide is .75 miles away. She didn't get her meds Sat or Sun. he gave her benedryl. Well, she ends up with an asthma attack and ended up in the ER. Your kid is sick, and has underlying asthma. You don't go to the drug store to get her her maintinance meds. Tell me, I'' go get them. Her cold is now pneumonia, and she missed school today. She will probably miss for the next 2 days. She requires resp treatments every 3-4 hours. I did manage to get a 2 hour nap in today. I also held my eating together until today. Completely fell apart today. Junk Junk Junk. I have had too much caffiene and I am wired. I did go to the PTO. It was pathetic. Less than 30 people were there. I can tell I will be a PTO officer in thenext couple of years. Won and I are barely speaking at the moment. I need time to get over my feelings of anger and betrayal. This is going to take a lot of time to work through.

My goals are simple for tomorrow.
Water.
Eat on Program.
Keep Katie alive.
Go to the Y after katie is in bed.

I need to take Pez for a walk.

I'll check in tomorrow,
Beth
