Do any of you remember the actual date that VMK came online? It was at the end of May if I remember correctly?

I think we should plan a huge party for all Beta people here since Day One (oh wait that is what is on the Disney Visa Card ..lol) Anyway you know who you are.....

What do you think? We would never all fit in one room though.....

I just remember it as close to Memorial Day.

And I'm day one, but not BlueMinnie any more. Can I come? :teeth:

It was May 27. But I dunno if I joined in Beta that early... But I got in for beta! ^_^

I think the start date was May 23rd. I joined May 24th or 25th. Almost time :cheer2: Thanks VMK for the great year, fun games and wonderful friends!!!

Yes I beleive I joined on the 24th also. would have to do a search but pretty sure that is right.

Wouldn't it be awesome if for out one yr annies we got some neat gift ;) like the new Sports Room ;)

HINT HINT ;) ;) ::yes:: ::yes::

Beta began May 23rd and ended June 27th. :)

Almost anniversary..

OK, I am getting these ridiculous sentimental feelings. I peeked back at the archives on the DIS, and found this thread, one of several that started up when VMK first opened.

4th post is by Taryn / DoomCookie, the day after VMK opened. A bunch of other familiar names, and names of people long since retired from VMK.

And if anyone ever wonder why is Bezoar green, this is the post that's responsible...

I had an idea if anyone is interested it is that we make ourselves that lime green color for skin so we know we are from the Dis. I know it looks really funky but at least it is lime green ;
How come just about nobody else stayed green? ;)

Yes, May 23 to June 27 sounds right to me. I remember stumbling around
Main Street not knowing what I needed to do in the game! Some girl
took pity on the poor "guest" (me), showed me around.

I think I joined somewhere around June 6th for some reason. Too bad
I was busy collecting Hidden Mickeys instead of Beta furniture. I never
knew about Nedding until a few months later and mules? Never thought
about making them until September.

In fact, I missed an opportunity for the black ears when I was in Disneyland
for the 50th birthday last July. I had no clue that I could have created
a new character for that purpose. I did, however, get my gold ears
and magic mirror, two items I knew I wanted really really badly!

But that was also the weekend of the "parade", the original space suit,
Sorcerer ears and Tomorrowland 8/9 sale. I missed all the "fun". ;)

Yep, you, me, and MissBelle (no longer around, I guess) were the people who got left off that list...

I'm glad you are sticking to the green-ness :)

Cough! :crazy2: So why didn't someone send me the memo????

I was there. I'm not really sure when I joined, but going by the thread you posted, it was at least by May 29. I played for a while, and then I got frustrated with it because I was on a Mac, and I got a job (I quit my job around the time it started) and had less time. So I missed a lot of stuff. But then I tried playing it on my work computer, and it's so much better! So now I play during lunch, and I take my laptop home sometimes to play. :ssst: :rolleyes1 I'm looking at getting a Powerbook Mac laptop that I think will run the game better. (I have an iMac from 2000 at home, and I think it's just too slow.) I tried them at the Apple store, and it seemed to work ok, although the new Pentium one had problems. Can you believe that's the requirement on what laptop I buy, if it will play VMK?!? :rotfl:

Anyway, I remember a lot of you here from a year ago. The game has improved so much since then. What's really gotten me hooked are the quests. I can't get enough of them! And it's so much more fun when the mini-games actually work!

FYI (although off-topic, lol) -- I'm running VMK using a a 1.5 GHz PowerBook G4, and it's not great. It's possible to play all the games to some extent, but it's still slow at times (and NOT due to the internet connection).

If you can afford it / have the technical expertise or inclination to, you might hold out for an Intel-based Mac, and set it up to dual-boot into Windows XP. Windows for games including VMK, Mac for everything else.

And just to sort of get back on Mint's topic..., a get-together is always nice, but how about not restricting it to "beta" people? Just have it as a birthday, I mean bird day, for VMK (does anyone else miss being able to say Burp day?), where everyone's welcome?

I never got the memo... Then again, I didn't join Dis until a month after VMK started. I was green for other reasons (and being green has its own subtle rewards, or so I am told).

Wow, a lot of names of there that are no longer around. Mine is not there, I wonder why? I was there one of the 1st days they opened. And like otheres, I was too busy finding the hidden mickeys and not buying all the beta stuff I could!

Let me know if there is going to be something going on!

i know i joined may i don't know when...but i looked on wikipeda and who ever the guy that typed it in put the beta lauch was the may 23 and ended the 27

ok i play vmk on my powerbook, imac without intel, my macmini, sometimes on the cube, and a pc laptop. (don't ask about the pc) I can play on all but i can't play firework on any of the macs only on the pc(i used to could play on the imac, when only like 1000 people on it and there was only three lands), though can't play pirates or ghost on the pc but everything else.
Vmk runs fastest on the imac though. i go on a computer to what i am going to do vmk. It get quite frustating. oh well the price you pay to play vmk :teeth:

Wow, I was such the proud wife back then, wasn't I?? :goodvibes ALL of my posts on that thread had to do with DH CapeCAD and how good he was at the pirate game!! pirate:  Hey, I'm still proud of him, and not embarrassed to say so!

By the way, *I* had joined VMK way before CapeCAD signed up (from what I can tell, he joined VMK on either June 11th or 12th), but I wasn't into it until he explained it all to me and I realized that I could be IN my favorite Disney attraction, Pirates of the Caribbean! pirate: It's still our favorite VMK game. :thumbsup2

I wasn't (and still am not!) happy that VMK wouldn't approve "SeaSpray" as my character's name! It still won't! What's the deal with that?! So even though I joined VMK a few weeks before CapeCAD did, he had his title approved way before I did. CapeCAD is the name of one of his businesses, so he always uses that when he signs up for things. LOL I kept trying to type in different variations of "SeaSpray", and every time I signed on, it told me I had to choose something else. Out of frustration, I typed in "CapeGirl", thinking that since "capecad" had been approved, surely they'd approve CapeGirl. And they did. So I went from being a well-known, long-time DISer, to being "CapeCAD's" wife! Remember we could say "wife" back then?? lol
