Best Western Plus Park Place Inn

Are these standard rooms or suites?
I think that at least one of them is a 2 Double bed room, non-suite. We had a reservation for a 2 double bed room once and they offered us one of those rooms. We started there, but the sounds of the traffic on Harbor Blvd was very noticeable so we changed to a room further away from Harbor for a bit more peace and quiet.

When making a reservation there is a drop down box that lets you select from some different categories of rates (e.g., AAA, Senior/AARP, etc.). I've always used the AAA rate.

Also, are there ever any discounts offered? We are planning to go in December and I'm wondering if I should go ahead and book a room.
I don't know about any discounts. The room I stayed in had two queen beds.
I have since tried to reserve one of those rooms but they cant do that for me. It's really just a matter of luck when you check in so it's best to ask then.

The only discount we've ever gotten is the AAA discount. We also get Best Western points for our stay, as we do the Best Western Rewards points. We always book really early. One year they actually emailed us because their rates went down, and they gave us the new lower rate!

There are three types of rooms that I know since I have stayed there a lot of times. Just as figment and Indiana Scott said on their posts that there is a 2 double bed room, 2 queen bed room with a sofa bed and the other one is a 1 king bed with a sofa bed. There is a handicapped 1 king bed room as well.

There are discounts at any of the Best Western hotels with the AAA, AARP/SENIOR, GOVERMENT/MILITARY, etc. There is also the Best Western Rewards where you can get points and get discounts at specific BW hotels. I have seen a lot of different discounts rates at the other BW hotels around the DLR. There are times when BWPPI does get it as well.

Based on the map they gave us it looks like there are three rooms on the second floor (rooms #276-277-278) and 5 on the third floor (#376-380). While the rooms do face DLR, they are right up against Harbor Blvd which is busy and noisy around the clock.

We've usually booked with a AAA discount. Because of it's location right at the crosswalk it books up quickly so if you know your dates I would go ahead and book a room.

I think the poster was asking specifically about the three rooms that look out onto Harbor Blvd. It might be something that one could call the motel and ask them about.

If you're talking about general room types, I think there are also handicap/mobility-accessible 2 Queen bed rooms in addition to the four mentioned by mvf-m11c.

When we got one of the rooms in front, it was very quiet (heavy windows) and we didn't notice and noise form the road or anythig else.

It might also have to do with which floor the room is located on and heavy of a sleeper you are. We were offered one of the rooms on the second floor, so the traffic sounds were quite easy to hear. We only stayed about an hour before we decided to ask to move because of the sirens, car horns, and general sounds of the traffic that we could hear clearly inside the room even with the door and windows shut, so we knew it would be a problem when we tried to sleep. Also, from the second floor rooms, you can see the parks across the street, but you cannot see into the park. So overall, the fifth floor rooms might be okay, but the second floor rooms aren't really that great.

FYI, you can get a discount here (or any Best Western) booking through Costco. Go to the costco website, click travel, click Hotel partners. This is hotel only booking, not a package.

Any one know where map of the rooms are for this place?

I haven't seen any online but here is one of the website that talks about each room which shows pictures and you can get an idea of what it looks like.

I believe the double bed rooms are right around the pool area since I stayed in those rooms. The king rooms are like on the bottom floor along with the mobility accessible rooms. The 2 queen rooms are like on the upper floors.

They'll give guests a property map when they check-in. I looked through my paperwork, but unfortunately, I do could not find a copy. I know that the map does not indicate which types of room are which. I've stayed in several rooms throughout the hotel, mostly on upper floors away from Harbor (so, from the pool to the back) that have been 2 bed Queen mini-suites. Unfortunately, I don't recall all of the room numbers.

Thank you so much for this information! I got priced out of this hotel years ago but with this info I went on the Costco Travel website and managed to snag a room for very close to what I was paying for the Anaheim Plaza (which I have been staying at in recent years). Since I'll have my boys with me the breakfast will come in very handy!

We just returned from staying there last week of January and enjoyed it overall. The breakfast offerings are the same still as previous posters reported.

PROs:
- location, of course
- pleasantly firm bed
- thorough housekeeping staff
- breakfast variety

CONs (and these are minor quibbles only):
- pillows were little rocks wrapped in a pillow case :)
- the breakfast area was quite busy and barely controlled chaos with kids running everywhere

We were spending all day at the parks open to close, so this hotel was perfect for us. We'd stay again.

Here is the one we got last week, if it helps anyone.

From that map and the information I have found, it appears that the rooms facing the park, over the lobby, are standard rooms with two full beds. The two queen suites have a pool view. I find this a huge drag as I wanted a park view and don't want to hear noise from the pool. :(

We had a two-queen suite that was near the back of the motel. Definitely not near the pool, and not noisy. But it didn't have a park view.

It's not just the BWPPI. Most of the hotel rooms on Harbor don't have park views, just because the motels are pretty much all long and skinny.

We had the same experience as Simba. We stay in the mini-suite and have not had a problem with pool noise. We've stayed here three summers, and it's been no problem at any of our stays.

Maybe if you want a view you should check out the Fairfield, although I know they don't offer breakfast. I've never stayed there, but have read good reviews on the boards.

Have a reservation here in May. (AAA discount) However I have a King. I would not mind the front facing rooms (I acutally find freeway and train noises soothing). Oh well as long as I'm not in the back I'll actually be happy.

Any one have trouble with the size of the bed, how much of a deal is it to be in a double not a queen bed?
