Best Western - Park Place Inn & Suites - any opinions?

We are heading out west for a quick trip to DL 12/14 - 12/18 and booked at BW Park Place Inn & Suites. Not being California residents or DL AP holders - I just couldn't stomach the cost for the "on property" Disney hotels. I would love to stay at GC like we did on DVC points 2 years ago, but that isn't an option (blew all our points at Aulani :thumbsup2 ).

I figured since this BW is literally closer than DLR or PP (stayed there 12 years ago and not that impressed) - and about 1/4 the cost we'd give it a try. Does anyone have any opinions or experiences here?

Thanks in advance!

I think it all depends upon your expectations really. Its a motel with outside corridors so your door will open to the parking lot. The rooms are basic motel rooms and the pool is on the small side. If you're expecting a resort, it is not that. But when we stayed there we had great experiences there. Our rooms were clean and ready on time. Housekeeping did a good job each day. The rooms were a bit "dark", not a lot of light in them but that would be my only complaint. Room requests that we made were honored. The pool is small but my DD enjoyed it just fine. The walk to/from the parks simply cannot be beat. It is not fancy and and not a place where you're gonna want to lounge by the pool for extended peiods of time. But it is a good clean room to sleep in with a very short walk to the parks. I would stay there again if thats all I was looking for.

Thank you! That is exactly what I was looking for since we are only going for 4 nights.
Clean and relatively comfortable is what we're most interested in for this trip.

Thanks again!

I have read so many good reviews of BWPP that we booked it for our October trip. I say its one of the better ones that are right there on Harbor Blvd. It's not going to be fancy by any means. I also looked it up on the bed bug registry and it had a clean record.

Agree with pps......clean, comfortable, small pool and hot tub, but fine for a dip if you want. Nice and helpful staff. Should be great for you....love the location!

BWPPI - have stayed there several times. That is my go to place for offsite. It is solid. Not spectacular but will suit you just fine. Plus the short walk is heaven!

:wizard:

It like home away from home. Very clean, super comfy beds, nice breakfast. I like it darkish cuz we only sleep there! Its super close, and although the pool may be a bit small it's very clean and neat. Excellent customer service.

Basic hotel, kind of dark rooms, no frills and a tight parking lot. Can be from room to gates of Disneyland in about 5 minutes and perfect if some people want to go back to the room and rest for a few hours while others wish to remain in the parks.

Would recommend to anyone except those looking for a resort experience.

Who goes to Disneyland and hangs out in their rooms?

Shortest walk from Harbor Blvd. I thought it was just fine. NOthing fancy. Could have used new carpet, and the pool was boring and small, but we aren't really pool people anyway.

If you are not a 5* hotel person you will be just fine here.

After searching for the info I needed and not finding it, I thought I would ask in this old thread to keep some Best Western Park Place Inn information all together. We have a reservation for BWPPI for January, and I have two questions for those that have stayed there:

1) Do the rooms have ethernet jacks in them? After reading that the wifi is poor, I thought I'd make my own local, secured wifi network for us in the room.

2) If check-in is not until 3pm, will they hold your bags for you until then? While I expect that of a nicer hotel, like DLH, I don't expect that of a Best Western. If not, what have others done with your bags if you arrived earlier in the morning?

Thanks,
Susan

Good questions. Curious to see the answers.

I can tell you that the Desert Inn and Suites two doors down has giant lockers you can put your bags in. I suppose worst case scenario you could go over there. I didn't see a sign that said it was exclusively for guests.

Not sure about your question #1 - we did find the WiFi kind of poor - our room was on the second floor towards the back. Sometimes, our electronics tried to connect to the next door hotel's Wifi - got kind of fustrating but we don't really use our electronics that much

#2 -Yes, they held our bags for us. They gave us a ticket for each bag and took them to the back room. We arrived around noon and went straight to the parks.

We have stayed at the BWPPI twice already and will be there again in 19 days! :)

It is the only place we stay now! We love how close it is, without being on DLR property. We are rarely in the room, usually just in the morning and when we go to bed, otherwise we are at the parks. If we were to stay extra days, without going to the parks, it might be different, but we don't see a need to spend lots of money on a room we are never in. Yes, at times the wifi is poor, but we survive.

We always stay here and enjoy it. The breakfast gets us going in the morning and it is so close to the parks. We never use the pool as we're really just looking for a place to crash. But it is clean and comfortable and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

We stayed here October 2013 and were happy with it. Yes they did hold our bags for us when we arrived early morning and again after we checked out (but still had a day to spend in Disneyland! ). They had a room down the corridor that the bags were locked in for safety.

Sorry, can't remember about the ethernet port.

I am one of the few people who really dislikes Park Place In BW.
I get a closed in dark feeling when I stay there.

But maybe it is due to the way they advertised the place, indicating fireworks viewing, suites, and deceptive pictures of pool area.
The pool area is very dark with a shut in feeling.
Rooms are small, and I would never had called them suites.

Breakfast was fine.
Room was clean.
Proximity to cross walk, where people cross harbor blvd to get to DL, is very good (one of the best).

Park Place Inn is between two other hotels. The hotels, on Harbor, tend to have small fronts on Harbor Blvd, and then are thin and narrow going back quite a distance.

There are a few hotels, on Harbor, that have less of a shut in feeling, due to not having another hotel, close in, on one (or both) sides.
Some of these have pools that are on a roof (or platform) that puts it up high enough to not have the shut in dark feeling.
Park Place Inn does not have these advantages.

Other than the WIFI being terrible, I can't say anything bad about this hotel, having stayed there last year. The breakfast is decent, the rooms are large and kept spotless, and the staff friendly and ready to help with any requests. And the location can't be beat. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

Stayed there this past August. FYI, you can get a discount booking through Costco travel website if you happen to be a Costco member (was the same as the AAA discount when I stayed).

There is a lack of convenient wall outlets. Bring a power strip or something if you need to charge a lot of stuff.

The sofa bed in the mini suites is pretty uncomfortable, of course I have yet to stay in a hotel sofa bed that WAS comfortable so....

Parking was not an issue, though the spaces can be tight. We went out to dinner several nights and had no issues finding a space upon return.

I had no problems with the wifi, just the luck of the draw on your location. I was close to the lobby on the second floor.
