I'm staying here next week for my HHN trip. How is it? I'm not expecting an amazing hotel or anything but overall, how is the place? Nice? Is it true that there are computers in every room?

2 final questions

How long of a walk is it to Universal?

and secondly, is there a supermarket or a something similar that's close?

Stayed at BW Movieland one Spring Break week. Our room overlooked Wet and Wild. It did smell a little musty. It will be over a half mile to the hub. Driving home kind of sucked since I-Drive turns into a parking lot after the p.m. peak. There is a drug store on the route.

I can help with this one.

We stayed at this hotel for 11 nights back in January 2007 after a disastrous three day start to our two week holiday from the UK.

The staff were fantastically friendly (Jeffrey, Almetria, Fabio all on the front desk) and couldn't do more than enough. The hotel had just undergone a refurbishment and there was not one musty smell from any corridor carpet or the room we were in.

We had a room with two double beds. There was a 25" TV with free movie channels (HBO?). There was a computer in the room - a NetPad - not a PC/Mac as you would know it (no hard disk drive/optical drive) and very advertisement oriented but free to use ... well "free" in the sense that the use of it and other hotel facilities is included in the "resort fee" which at the time of our stay was $6.75 per room per night. I have read on other forums that hotel guests had negotiated the fee down to $2.50 per night.

There's a couple of small supermarkets with five minutes walk - as I recall one virtually opposite the Sheraton hotel (you can't miss it - the big round building to your left as you stand at the hotel doors!) and another to your right in a small strip mall where there's a Dairy Queen store at the end of the mall.

Walgreens is two minutes walk to your left - open 24 hours.

We walked to Universal every day we went. Turn left out the hotel, cross the road by Walgreens, turn left at the next intersection (cross the road first) and keep straight on, crossing the I-4 and a couple of other roads before you get to the "hub" through the coach drop off/taxi rank and up the escalator. If you are a brisk walker, I'd say 20 minutes to get to the cursory security check at the top of the escalators before the moving walkways.

Enjoy - we're off to stay at the Movieland on Xmas Eve for a couple of weeks or so.
