Best Weekend in October

I'm looking at a trip in October 2016 and am thinking the 1st weekend would be better then the second because of Columbus weekend and the CHOC walk over the 1st weekend of gay days.

For those who have been over both weekends which is least crowded?

Also next year October 1st is a Saturday would that possible mean that gay days would be the following weekend which is Columbus weekend since its the first Fri, Sat, Sun of the month usually?

Sounds like no to it possibly being the second weekend of October rather than the first. From the FAQ page of the Gay Days website (although the "lowest attendance" bit seems to not be accurate anymore, haha):

Why is the event the first weekend in October?
While the first weekend in October is sometimes Columbus Day weekend, it is also the month in which Disneyland traditionally sees its lowest attendance, which makes it the ideal time to fill the park with as many gays as possible. Also, the weather in October is generally pleasant and warm, rather than oppressively hot as it can be during the summer or cool and possibly rainy as the winter can be. Technically, we base the event around the first Saturday in October, so the Friday could be in September.

Has anybody been there the first two weekends?
What is the difference in crowd levels?
I am thinking Columbus weekend would be much more crowded?

our trips have coincided with Gay Days last two years, but haven't been there the following weekend to compare. Gay Days is definitely busy but looking at Touring Plans they were showing CHOC/Columbus weekend as being busier.

CHOC/Columbus weekend will be extra busy this year because it appears that the Star Wars Launch Bay is probably going to open on or by 10/11. Disney is auditioning performers who have to be able to start work on 10/11.

Both weekends are busy. We've been in the parks for the Saturday of Gay Days for the past several years -- hot and crowded, but not like major holiday crowded. More like Dapper Days crowded. CHOC Walk weekend is crowded, too, but more on the Sunday when walkers get discounted tickets.

Thanks for the responses I totally forgot about Touring Plans, I checked out the crowd calendar and saw Columbus Weekend will be busier.
