Im thinking of going in October next year and was wondering what is the best time to go ? The least crowded, best weather ? Would the first week of Oct be a good week ? Any opinions from anyone who has been there in October would be appreciated .

We are going the first week of Oct this year so I'm hoping that's the best one! :)
And with Free Dining, it's turning out to be
:wizard:

I went the last week last year and it was not crowded at all during the week. Weekends at Epcot were very crowded due to food & wine but not bad during the week. Weather was warm last year.

I think that as long as you avoid Columbus Day Weekend, you should be in good shape. We're going the last full week of October, avoiding the weekends, and I'm hoping for relatively low crowds.

We went the last week of October last year and it was wonderful. Great weather and low crowds.

Love Halloween week! In my experience crowds are low and weather is fantastic. We'll be there starting October 26th this year!

We went the first two weeks and are doing the same this year. Weather was great and the crowds very easy to manage. Yes we noticed it was more crowded especially at weekends in EPCOT but we were more than able to cope by using fast passes if needed and just taking our time.

Plus you get F&W and MNSSHP so its a great time to go :thumbsup2

My husband and I love going in October, not only because Halloween is my favorite holiday, but because our anniversary is the week before the holiday. We love going in October, and in fact, are planning to go in 2012 with a whole crew of family. My husband and I will be going for 2 weeks...one week with family, and one week just the 2 of us :) I think the weather is the best during this month, and there is so much stuff to do...i.e. MNSSHP, and F&W it just works fantabulous for us all around! We picked the last 2 weeks of October to go, since the weather is a little cooler than the first 2.

We went last year third week. Wasnt that crowded to me .ended up buying mnsshp ticket day at mk. Crowds manageable all week . We even did fw twice .

We have been the first week of Oct. for the last three years, and will be back again this year (school has a fall break). Avoid this week...crowded as Christmas, hot as August. It is just awful. I'm kidding of course! It is a lovely week. It is on the lower end of moderate for crowds. We've been in Sept. and several times in the later part of May, and this week in Oct. is between the two crowd wise.

The weather has been a mixed bag though. Last year it was PERFECT. Low 80s for highs, cool evenings and most importantly low humidity! In 2009 it was, no lie, hot and humid as August. It was mid-upper 90s with very high humidity. Heat indexes were in the 100s most days. In 2008 the temperatures were in the low to middle 80s, but it was quite muggy. It rained off and on several days of the trip. Never for very long, but most days remained overcast. We live in GA, and the Oct. weather pretty much rolls the same way here. It is more consistently pleasant later in the month.

We went the last week of October three years ago, and will be going again this year.

The weather is really nice. It is a little cooler, yet still is warm enough to swim at night.

One major benefit is the closer you get to November, the further you are from the core hurricane season.

My favorite time is October about third week and weather always been great crowds down some what. but to get kids out of school became a huge problem as ours will not give 'make up"homework they can go but are zeroed out for the time missed:confused3

So what are the high and low temps usually the last week of October? We are going the last week and I have been wondering!

Thanks everyone for your opinions :thumbsup2 I was thinking of the first week or last week. The only thing about the last week is my girl will miss trick or treat here in our home town, which she really dont want to miss even if we are going to Disney. We have trick or treat always the Thursday before Haloween :sad2: I would rather go the last week because of the temps cooling down and
getting out of hurricane season.

We went the last week last year as well. Same feedback others have given you except, from our perspective, we did not think the crowds were low by any stretch. Moderate at best. We may have timed park days wrong of course, but there were some pretty serious wait times and crowd issues at times. One night for MSEP we could not believe the crowds; almost impossible to get around.

Food and Wine was a zoo, we did two different times, one on weekday and one weekend and we didn't really notice a major difference in crowds, and we left around early evening. Also, watch the constant F-bombs and other completely inappropriate behavior you'll see that the F&W crowd throws around. The employees seem to act like fools too. It's not for kids to watch in my opinion. We personally found F&W to be a major disappointment in the quality for price. Likely not doing that again.

We stayed offsite and trick or treated at the hotel and for my kids, it was a blast, because the hotel went all out. It was not the same as home town trick or treating, but interesting and fun to do something new, plus far less candy and other sugar crack the kids normally get.

Finally, Hurricanes are a minor risk in Orlando. Torrential rains are not, but Hurricanes are almost statistically insignificant. I say this now possibly eating crow if one happens to show up this year.

Weather.com has some relatively calming data on Orlando hurricanes. http://www.weather.com/weather/hurr...urricane-strike-frequency_2011-08-12#graphic4

Overall, weather is good, crowds are okay, and if you are okay with the F&W crowds, or go to Epcot early and on a weekday, then it could be a great time to go.

I went the 3rd week in October in 2012 beautiful weather, low crowds just perfect and last year I went the 4th week into November (over Halloween) same situation however the crowds were a bit higher and MSNNP was crazy when we went which was the 29th. I think the 2nd or 3rd week would be the best. Just to be more specific in regards to the weather, the days were around 85 degrees and the nights in the 70's.
