Best week in August

I'm starting to plan for our 2007 WDW trip. After looking at our schedules we know we want to go in August. I'm planning on getting our airline tickets with frequent flyer miles. Last time I tried to do this I wasn't able to find seats on the flight I wanted. I guess frequent flyer mile seats go fast. So this time I decided to book the flight as soon as possible and the August flights will be available soon.

My choice is between Sat 8/18/07 to Sat 8/25/07 --- or --- Sat 8/25/07 - Sat 9/1/07. If anyone has ever gone to WDW the last 2 weeks in August, which week would you choose? The week right before Labor Day, or 2 weeks before Labor Day?

We went one year after Labor Day and it was hot but the lines were almost nothing. We walked on to almost every ride. Is late August like that?

Yes, from mid-August on crowds drop off noticeably because many schools are back in session by the middle of August. There is not much difference between the two weeks.

Please take note that I have read that next year the schools in Florida will be going back to school after Labor Day like we do up North. I'm not sure if the same change is for other southern states. That may have a big impact on crowds.

Latter part of August as school is back in session. That reduces the crowds aton!

I didn't know that FLA schools might start later in the summer for next year. I checked the internet and it looks like it is going to happen: http://www.saveoursummers.org/

So based on that I guess planning to go the week before Labor Day next year might be the best bet.

Does anyone know when FLA schools are going to start for the 2007 - 2008 school year? And is it just in Florida or all the southern states?

I like the last week in August best. It seems the crowds really drop off & most things are a walk-on. Alot of the Southern States are back in school & many of the Northeners are busy making back to school preparations and don't want to travel then.

I read somewhere (can't find it now of course) that for the 07-08 school year FL schools will be going back to school somewhere around 8/20. I think either of your weeks will be fine. I was planning on arriving on the 15th but with the new schedule I'm thinking of pushing it forward a few days to maybe the 18th.
As far as I know the other southern schools are still beginning in early August and I can't see a lot people traveling a few days before school starts.
