Best way to surprise someone with a gift in our WDW Resort room?

Here's the thing, folks: I've been at WDW for my birthday many times and my poor, December-born older sister never has. I've also seen WDW lit up for the holidays. Ditto on big sis missing out.

My sister loves Christmas a lot. She used to insist on having a separate birthday party on the 24th with no Christmas things, but now she fully embraces that she was born on Christmas Eve. She is thrilled to be planning her first time seeing WDW decked out for the holidays this December! It is going to be me, my sister, her husband, and her daughter. (I have gone on several vacations with her family. Mary Poppins once asked me if I was the nanny, and when my niece corrected her, said, "Oh, the unpaid nanny!")

So this trip is going to be really special. But I want it to be as special as it can be. I want to surprise my sister with some really awesome gift basket/balloons/birthday surprise waiting for us in our room.

I know Disney florist does things like this, but I was thinking I might ask a CM friend to let me send them a gift and money for balloons, and have them deliver it. My question is, will they actually be allowed to take the gift/balloons to the room? If I include a birthday banner, is it possible to have someone hang it up? Is it possible to have something waiting for us for the first time we walk in the room?

I would love to hear any experience anyone has with things like this. While I was a CM for two years, I never worked at a resort.

As a CM at the GF I did this many times. We would add Mickey baloons, mini cake and a card from their favorite character. Not sure which resort you are staying at but give a call to Gst Relations ahead of time and they can help you out with this.

But.....the chances of having something waiting, in the room, when you first walk in are slim. Too many chances for something to happen and you end up in a different room! Your room isn't truly 'your' room until they hand the room number to you! And that certainly isn't enough time for a gift to be delivered.
You could get it delivered later in the day. After you've checked in, and then headed off to a park or to eat.
I've had gift boxes handed to my dd and her friends at checkin! And unless the CM friend is working at that resort, I doubt they will be allowed to enter the room and set something up.but, I could be wrong.

I definitely agree about if the CM isn't working at that resort the odds of her/him being allowed to enter the room are slim to none. (Possible exception being if they are a CM at one of the other resorts - and in one of the higher level positions.)

But...if the room is not ready when you arrive and you get the number later in the day when you're off doing something so wouldn't be going straight to the room, possibly something could be delivered. Or perhaps you could work with the front desk to have them *say* it isn't ready when in reality it is - you get the number, y'all head off to do something, and you pretend to get a text that it's ready.

I know from experience that things can appear throughout a stay - once when we were celebrating my second masters degree, various little things appeared throughout our stay. It was fun!

You can have something delivered before your arrival, but I believe it's only if you are staying club level.

We got married in WDW the week before Christmas & spent our honeymoon there as well. I ordered a Christmas tree from Memories by Betsy, an offsite vendor. She was recommended to me by other Disers. She creates custom WDW themed Christmas trees, as well as custom gift baskets & she delivers them to the resort. She is way cheaper than going through Disney Florist and she did a fantastic job.

We stayed club level and our tree was set up in our hotel room when we arrived, but I'm not sure if this is the norm for non-CL rooms.

I highly recommend her-she is wonderful to work with and she will customize your order just how you want it:

I had a gift basket delivered to our room by Disney Floral for our stay at ASMusic this past February. It was the Wishes sparkling non-alcoholic wine, some fruit (I added it ala carte), crackers, cheese, and chocolates, tied with a Mickey balloon, and they included a welcome card signed by the Mouse himself. It was waiting on the bed when we walked in the door. We just made sure to do online check-in prior to arrival. We also checked in late (after midnight) so that may have been another reason they were able to accomodate the delivery.

Since our flight landed at MCO at 11:50pm, I knew there wouldn't be any options for food, plus I knew we'd be too exhausted to do anything once we got to our room, so it was so nice to have snacks waiting for us right there in our room.

Here is one reason that you might not be able to have something waiting in the room....I have been told my room is ready. But, when I got to the room, and went in? There were guests there. Some kind of glitch in the system, but it's happened to me twice.
