Best Way to Hoop de Doo from AKV

We usually go to Hoop de Doo by taking a boat from MK to Ft Wilderness. But, this year we are going to HDD on a non park day directly from AKV.

I'm thinking the best way might be to drive to Wilderness Lodge and then boat over to the campgrounds.

Are there any other ideas out there?

You're looking at two modes ( or more)of transport no matter what. Driving to WL seems like a pain, plus the guard might not want to let you park there. Drive to the campground and take the internal bus, or bus or drive to MK and take the FW launch.

Last year, we stayed at AKV and went to the Hoop-Dee-Doo on our first day, which was a non-park day. We drove to Fort Wilderness, parked in the front, and took the internal bus to Pioneer Hall. We attended the last show of the evening, so having our car parked at Fort Wilderness made for a very easy return to the lodge.

I would only park at Disney's Wilderness Lodge if you prefer boat rides.

Thank you for the good advice. I didn't realize I could park at Fort Wilderness. That is probably the way to go.

You can also bus it to MK, then boat to FW. We don't ever have a car, so that's what I would do:)

Note, you cannot just drive to Wilderness Lodge and take boat or bus over to FW. You are likely not to be allowed into the WL lot absent a valid resort reason (like rerservation at a WL restaruarant). Best and shortest trip if you have a car (which we have done many times) is go to the Fort Wilderness parking lot on the south end/main entrance of FW (they will let you in there for Hoop Dee Doo) and then take internal FW bus to Pioneer Hall on the north end of FW.

I doubt they would be turned away. We often visit other resorts. Sometimes we have an ADR and other times we don't. We have told the guard that we are just coming to check out the resort and have had no problems. We have to show either an ID or a valid WDW KTTW card (I have heard they are scanning Magic Bands now), but otherwise we have always been sent right through.

The exceptions to this are the monorail and Boardwalk area resorts. Sometimes it is not an issue at these resorts, sometimes we are given a time limit and at their busiest times it is not possible to park there unless you are staying there. At the Wilderness Lodge, however, there should be no issues.

All that said, I still think the OP's best option is to park at Fort Wilderness.
