Best way to handle this

We have a 8:10 adr for Hollywood and Vine in HS in September. My boys really want to do the Jedi training academy. My question is what time should we arrive for our reservation and what time should we leave the restaurant to go sign up for the Jedi academy? We don't really care about the characters, it was more we wanted to be in the park earlier than normal (mostly so we could see what it was like mostly empty).

I would get to DHS by 7:45 am and get out of H&V no later than 8:45 am. When we did Jedi Training in Feb., we were there for rope drop, but a bit back in the line. They opened the park around 8:45 am, but by the time we scanned our MB's and jogged back to the Jedi Training line, we ended up with a 12:50 pm start time. It worked out fine with our schedule, but if you want an earlier spot, I would get out of H&V by 8:45 am - you will have an advantage over those who are just entering the park at that point.

I made an early ADR at H&V in March specifically for early access as well (for a book signing, but it was in the same area as JT) We were let out of the restaurant holding area around 8:45, I assume at the same time as they opened the gates. There were probably 20 or so people waiting there with us. A family right at the front of the group was headed to JT, and they were easily the first ones there.

I would plan to be at the gates by 7:45 by the absolute latest, maybe even a little earlier. That's about when we got there, and there were at least a dozen groups in line in front of us for breakfast entry. And if you are driving, make sure you allow time to park, walk from the lot, etc. We took the bus, but I was surprised at how full the lot already was that early!
