Best way to get to MGM from Epcot

I think it depends on the day, or time of day... I know that buses from MGM to anywhere in the morning, are very hard to get. We had to request one special, since they dont start to pick people up until middle of the day. (according to the Bus Depot guy at MGM)
The boat seemed to be running regularly.

I would think the boat would be faster, depending on the lines waiting for both.
JMHO...

We found the boat to be faster. And, it was a nice little ride between the two, stopping at different resorts along the way. We really enjoyed the boat ride. It was in the late afternoon and took us about 20 minutes with stops at several resorts!

Where in Epcot does the boat leave from, and where at MGM does it drop you off?

Thanks.

At Epcot, it's past France (if you are heading FROM France), go up the bridge and take a left and there are turnstyles there and the dock, at the International Gateway.

At MGM, if you are heading out of the park, you would walk to the left and you will see the dock there on the left.

You can also walk from Epcot to MGM, passing through the Boardwalk area as you go. It probably takes as long to ride the boat as it does to walk. Of course, depending on the time of year you might not want to walk.

The boats dock near the International Gateway (we call it Epcot's "Back Entrance").

This entrance/exit is centered between the "lands" of the United Kingdom and France (if you walk down the divergent sidewalk toward some small shops, you'll find the gates.)

Assuming a "normal walking pace", walking can actually be a bit faster than taking the boats (as there are 3 full stops for load and unload during each trip, in either direction, between Epcot and MGM Studios).
The actual time to ride the boat is generally closer to 30 minutes, but, that can vary a bit.
Walking takes about 15 minutes (if you don't stop at Boardwalk to sight-see or sip a cappuccino, but who can resist?)

OTOH, if the boats are not too full (like at closing, when there can be quite a line) they are a very pleasant ride.

Well, to be CLEAR, saying it is "past" France is only true if you are coming FROM France.

Sorry, I wasn't CLEAR enough. I fixed my post.

And since you did, I edited mine too.

Cheers!

Another option would be to leave through International Gateway & then take a bus from The Beach Club to MGM. I think it is a little faster - plus U can get a little tour of the Beach Club!

U might actually get some more responses if you post this on the "Transportation Board" as well!!!

There is no bus from the Beach Club to the Disney/MGM Studios. None of the Epcot resorts (Beach Club, Yacht, Club, Boardwalk, Swan and Dolphin) have bus service to the Studios or Epcot. You have the boat transportation as well as the option of walking. The only buses from the Epcot resorts go to the MK, AK, DTD and the water parks.
The boat ride from the International Gateway to the Studios is 30-35 minutes. I agree with everyone else that walking is faster. If you are not in a hurry the boat ride is nice and relaxing.

I think walking is actually faster than the boat. Since the boat has to make a few stops along the way, we can beat the boats going at a fairly relaxed pace. However in the summer, it can get a little too warm in the afternoon to do this.

We too find walking faster, but the boat ride is enjoyable too. It is a nice area to explore along the way.

DH and I find that walking at about 2.5 mph, we arrive on foot about the same time or a little earlier than the boat... What helps us decide is if we have to wait on the boat...if we see one coming, we will ride, otherwise we walk. It's a pleasant one.

My DH always prefers walking. It's the fastest way; about 15 minutes from MGM to BWV so about 20 minutes to Epcot. Every time he walks and we take the boat, he beats us.

I take the boat if I am tired. Also depends on if I see one coming. You could wait quite awhile for the boat and then the boat ride itself is so slow...it takes at least 20 minutes, probably more with each stop (there are 3 stops before Epcot).

We need to go from MGM to Epcot for dinner reservations(CP package) at 4:40 on Thursday December 22. From reading these posts, I assume walking would be the fastest. So the dumb question is how do you walk from MGM to Epcot, where is the path/route? Also what time would we need to leave MGM to get to LeCellier for ADR at 4:40? Would we still be able to catch the MGM parade?

I'd probably leave MGM by 3:30p - 3:45p cause I'd give 30 minutes to walk to the entrance to Epcot, then you need another approx 10 minutes to get to Le Cellier from the International Gateway and you'd want to get there at least 10 minutes early.

When you exit MGM, head toward the left. The walkway runs along the water/lagoon. You'll go past Boardwalk. Pass along the Boardwalk by the water and once you pass the Boardwalk Villas and Inn you head up the bridge and then you take a right and continue on the walkway to Epcot from Boardwalk. It's not that difficult to find.

Have fun!
