we will be staying @ SSR and was wondering the best directions to boma. do we need to go to AK first and then get on a bus to AKL?

We took the resort bus to AK, then from AK got on the AKL bus...we were there in a few minutes.

To get back we took the first AKL bus to any park and then hopped a bus from there back to our resort

You can actually go to any of the bus depots at Downtown Disney or Disney's West Side and take a bus to the Animal Kingdom Lodge. If you don't mind paying, you could also take a taxi.

Are you going for Breakfast or dinner? For breakfast or dinner, you could do the AK bus then once at AK take a AKL bus over to the lodge. This is what we do from BC.

If it's for breakfast I would think that it would take a long time to get a bus at DTD to AKL since the shops are not opened early in the morning.

thanks everyone for the input. i think we might walk to dtd and take the bus to akl from there. we have dinner ressies @ 6:10. that may be the easiest way.

Allow yourself at least 45 min, just in case you miss the bus as it pulls away and you have to wait 20 min for the next one.

We stayed at POFQ last summer and took a cab to AKL for Boma dinner. Although it's an extra expense (I think around $12 or so) it was worth it not to have to worry about waiting for a bus, having to go to a park first, then taking yet another bus to go to AKL. We got to AKL pretty quickly and had at least 30 minutes to view the savannah before dinner time! Then for our return trip after dinner we did take a bus since we didn't have to worry about the time.

Just another option. :)

thanks amyg, i didn't think about viewing the animals and that is a must! if our ressies are for 6:10, i think we will try to be @ the bus stop around 4:15, what do ya think? i remember waiting one time @ dtd for a bus to mk FOREVER!!!
thanks a bunch
