:goodvibesHi there fellow Disney fans! I am from Manitoba but will be in Hamilton over Christmas, then will take my step-daughter to WDW from Hamilton to Orlando for the first week of January.

Although I'm really comfortable driving (even in winter) I'm wondering which is the best route to take from Hamilton to WDW? Google maps is showing me a route through Erie & Pittsburgh PA down through Wytheville Viginia and on towards I-95.

Has anyone done this drive through the winter? Is it preferable to go this route as opposed to the major centers of Washington and Richmond VA?

Thanks all! Can't wait to go to Disney World again!

That is the route we have taken many times and is our prefered route. Once in the winter but we didnt have any snow storms. It will take you on US-19 DO NOT SPEED not even 1 mph over you will get stopped. Many people will pass you from that state it's the out of state plates they target. We leave Hamilton area around 4 am to get through Buffalo and hit the end of Pittsburg morning rush hour. That way your driving through the mountains in day light too.

We go that way too. We get the triptiks from CAA as they will show you construction, shorter routes, ways to go around the bigger cities, etc. If you're a CAA member they're free & wonderful. We've never got lost. Becareful in the mountains in January & also know that the more southern states don't have access to plows or salters so if they get a storm their highways may be closed or trecherous. It happened to us in February one time.

Best way to drive from Hamilton to WDW... I'm sorry I couldn't resist - one way!

I used to manage a restaurant in Stoney Creek and just couldn't help myself. I hope you are not driving back to Manitoba at that time of year - it could be a real adventure.
