Best Way to Cure Disney Depression? Plan Another Trip! A Solo PTR *Updated 5/13 TR Link

I love those behind the scenes TV specials! I've seen them all a hundred time. I have the newest one on dvr and watch it whenever I'm craving Disney

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who watches those!

YAY for booking the trip! :cheer2:
I'm so glad you decided on AoA - it really is amazing.

And the countdown really is adorable ... I love that your first initial is on the mickey ear hat! (I didn't realize that was what that meant until I compared my countdown to my sister's and noticed that the letters were different ... I was confused at first, but then I got it)

Less than 7 months to go!

I wish they had more tv specials and that they were on more often!

I'm so excited to be staying at AoA. I've been dying to stay there since it opened and it one of the first things I put on my Disney bucket list. It is just so Disney.

I love the counter! I noticed the initial right away, which makes it even better. I excitedly pointed it out to my mom and got the patronizing "uh-huh, that's nice" nod. She just doesn't understand my level of Disney excitement

:thumbsup2 for officially booking the trip! It does make it seem more real now, huh?! I haven't done a tour but the Marceline tour sounds like you can't go wrong and you can't beat the price, especially with your discount!

The Disney Visa was my very first credit card and I've had it now for nearly 10 years and LOVE it!!! Gotta love those rewards! :lovestruc

I just got my first Mickey Mail the other day! It was such an exciting moment. I brought it to camp with me and probably read it at least 20 times over the weekend, even though I already knew all of the information that was in it :rotfl:

I loved this page! I might have gotten a little emotional when I saw it.

And I love the little magnet of important dates. It is such an awesome idea!

I actually got 2. And my reservations show up twice online. I called Disney to make sure it didn’t get double booked. Turns out they did have 2 reservations for me with nearly identical confirmation numbers. Luckily I was only charged for one and she was easily able to cancel the second reservation.

I apologize for such a big gap in between updates. I don’t really have much to post. The park hours should be released soon and I will be able to start more in depth plans, which mean more updates! Until then I’ll probably make a few updates with my Disney Bucket List and goals for this trip, etc.

If there is anything that you want to know, just ask!
Thank you everyone for following along! I promise it will get more interesting soon!

Yay for Mickey Mail! I got my 3rd piece of Mickey Mail today and it's still as exciting as the first one.

That magnet really is a great idea ... I was very impressed when I saw it.

I'm really interested to see your Disney Bucket List and goals for the trip ... my upcoming trip may be my last for a while, so I'm looking to steal fun ideas to make it special from other people.

And 2 packets = 2 magnets = you can have all the information in 2 different places!

This is all so exciting! So happy for you!!! :goodvibes

I just got back on Sunday, and went and put my December 2015 trip on a 7-Day Hold today. :rotfl: I should be able to pay the deposit in the next week, but I'm not celebrating booking until I do.

I too booked an AoA Little Mermaid room for next year's trip, so I'm VERY eager to hear what you think of it after your trip! While I was at Pop last week, one afternoon I wandered across the bridge and checked out AoA. It's GORGEOUS. I can't wait to stay there. I think you'll REALLY love it!!! :hyper:

I was shocked to see a tour with such a low price. It is definitely on my to do list, even if it isn't this trip.

I love Mickey Mail! And I wasn't expecting it, which made it even better. If I had 20 of those magnets I could probably find a place for all of them:laughing:

:goodvibes I can't wait to stay at AoA!!! And to finally see it in person! I've been staring at pictures of it online for so long.
I hope you had a wonderful trip! I'm following your TR and a can't wait to hear about your trip and how you liked going solo!

Happy Birthday Disney World!!

It was opened on this day 43 years ago!

  • Go to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party
  • Go to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party (again)
  • Have a Disney-moon
  • Meet every Disney Princess
  • Meet Mulan

  • Take my kids to Disney World while they are young enough to believe in magic

This list is always growing since I'm constantly thinking of new things I want to experience.

If everything goes as planned, I will be checking at least 5 things off my list. Can anybody figure out what they are?

200 days to go! :cool1:

That's a pretty great list!

I know one of the things you're knocking off your list is staying at Art of Animation. Not sure what else, though ... I guess I'll have to wait and see as you post updates!

The Kiss Goodnight is pretty nice, I've seen it a few times (I'm generally there when the park closes).

Thanks! I didn't even know about the Kiss Goodnight until a few months ago. It seems like it would a magical moment to see a little castle show while being on of the only people left in the park.

I didn't know it was called the Kiss Goodnight until recently, but since I'm almost always at the park when it closes, I see it a lot. It is really magical, and I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

I’m still eagerly awaiting the release of park hours! But the good news is that the hours for the week before I leave just came out, which means my trip should be out by the end of next week! And then I can dive into daily plans, fastpass+, and all that fun stuff!

In other news, I finally got a smartphone! Which isn’t really Disney related, but it is, because one of the first apps I downloaded was My Disney Experience. I’m very excited that I will actually be able to utilize the full benefits of the app on my trip. I thought I would only be able to use it via wifi when at the hotel, which meant I wouldn’t be able to move fastpasses around mid-day if needed. Now I can!
Not gonna lie, my Disney trip was the main reason I decided to get a smartphone. Yup, my priorities are in order :rotfl:

Now back to the update...

I promised I would post my trip wish list, kind of a mini bucket list, of things I want to do on this trip. So here it is!

April 2015 Wish List
  • See the Welcome Show at Magic Kingdom
  • Ride the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
  • See Festival of Fantasy
  • Start pin trading
  • Ride Tower of Terror
  • Watch every Night Time Spectacular
  • See Dream Along with Mickey
  • Marathon Splash Mountain
  • Go on Toy Story Mania multiple times
  • See Festival of the Lion King
  • Try a Dole Whip
  • See the Beauty and the Beast stage show
  • Try La Fou's Brew
  • See the Kiss Good night
  • Take an Animator's Class
  • Eat a Cupcake from Starring Rolls
  • Stay in the Magic Kingdom until 1 am (hopefully EMH will go that late)
  • Have an amazing birthday in the Happiest Place on Earth

I totally get the whole "getting a smartphone for Disney thing" - I got an early upgrade on my phone last year because the My Disney Experience app didn't open on my old phone.

And I love your wish list - everything on that list is awesome (and a few of them are on my wishlist for my trip too!)

Subscribing!

Love the Gilmore Girls GIF and planning my own solo trip (it'll be my second) for November 2015!

Having a smartphone and being able to use the My Disney Expereince app will definitely make things easier. I like knowing that I'll be able to change my fp+ plans around mid-day if needed.

Welcome! :wave2:
I love Gilmore Girls, it is by far my favorite tv show ever.

Park hours for the week of my trip are starting to be released, but thanks to Elevationist and her travel-agent-pixiedust, I got the hours early! :woohoo: Which means I can start planning out my park days! Yay! :hyper:

And since I am a crazy planner and love organizing and color coding way too much, I made this lovely chart.

parkhours_zps90d6a1bd.jpg

I used the crowd calenders from easywdw and Undercover Tourist to figure out the best days to go to each park. The colors on the chart correspond with the crowd ratings for each day.

I don’t follow the crowd calenders super closely, but use it as a basic guide. I tried my best to go to parks when it is going to be green or green/yellow.

These are just a rough idea of my plans. I’ll probably end up moving things around a little bit.

Sunday 4/19: Arrival day :hyper:

-Check-in to AoA and explore resort
-Magic Kingdom until close

Monday 4/20

-Epcot
-Hollywood Studios for EMH

Tuesday 4/21
-Hollywood Studios

Wednesday 4/22

-Animal Kingdom for morning EMH (maybe)
-Magic Kingdom

Thursday 4/23
-Epcot

Friday 4/24

-Animal Kingdom
-Epcot for EMH

Saturday 4/25: My Birthday!:cake:

-Magic Kingdom for rope drop
-Probably park hop somewhere since MK has a red rating from both sites
-Back to Magic Kingdom for EMH
-Hopefully staying to see the Kiss Goodnight (what a perfect way to end a trip)

Sunday 4/26: Departure day

-No park today :(
-Maybe going to Downtown Disney or just hanging around AoA, depending on flight times.

I’m not a morning person, so I don’t know if I’ll actually make it to morning EMH, but I’m feeling ambitious so I added it to the plans in hope it will motivate me to get my butt out of bed.
I think if I decide to do the Marceline to Magic Kingdom tour (which I”m leaning towards) I’ll try to do it on Wednesday.

I love your chart!
By the way - just for the future - if you google "Disney park hours" and the month you're looking for, you can usually find a PDF of the travel agent schedule - that's how I found it for the first time.

Days look good. I actually really love the idea of starting & ending at MK on your birthday. And the Kiss Goodnight is the perfect way to end the trip (and your birthday)!
