I currently have 210 points at AKV, 65 (40+25) at VWL, and 65 (40+25) at BWV. These points will allow us to book a 1BR SV at AKV twice a year, a 1 BR at VWL every other year, and a 1 BR preferred view at BWV every other year. This works fine since we don't have any children. We would like to spend 3 weeks a year at WDW, and 1 week a year on DCL.

I am looking to add between 40-70 points at BCV. However, BCV seems to be the most expensive resort to add-on (either direct from DVC or via the resale market). I guess that's because of it's proximity to Epcot and SAB. Small BCV point packages also seem to be the hardest to get your hands on.

I am wait-listed through DVC for 47 points at BCV, but I am #3 in line for my use year. There is no telling how long that might take. In the resale market, the small point packages (50 points) seem to go very fast. I have contacted TSS and asked that they notify me if anything becomes available. Most BCV resales are 100-150 points and up, more than I need.

I'm not that interested in acquiring points at OKW or SSR. I am 50 years old, so I also don't care about the reduced number of years at the resorts other than AKV and SSR.

By waiting on DVC, I am assured of getting points in my current use year, which makes it the easiest to manage. Plus, there aren't any closing costs or having to go through the anxious, nail-biting ROFR time period. Plus, I can pickup exactly the number of points I want.

By going resale, I may pay less per points than from DVC. However, I'll probably get more points than I need. I guess I can do the once-a-year transfer to ensure I use all the points. Then, there is ROFR.

I am looking for advice for the best way to pickup 40-70 points at BCV.
Any feedback and advice would be greatly appreciated and help me make an informed decision.

Mike

Keep in mind that if you go resale, the chances of getting a small contract that is also your same use year month would be very slim. If you purchase a contract with a different use year month, remember you must manage it completely separate from your other combined contracts. You could not mix points to get something at 7-months like you can with your other contracts. Also, banking is totally separate meaning points are not combined with your current contracts to determine banking percentages.

You will also have closing costs. Finally the 'value' of a resale can depend a lot on the status of banked/current/borrowed points.

I'd recommend you let the resale be specific to your current use year so a purchase would be coded as an add-on and not as a totally new contract with a new membership number specific to it.

Then waitlist at Disney DVC.

Purchase whichever is the first one to become available.

Thanks for the advice, Caskbill.

Now I just have to wait, wait, wait...
