Best way of organising a Disney Trip?

Hi

We are looking at doing a trip to Orlando from July 6th onwards, maybe for up to 10 days, but I am not sure what the best way of doing it would be.

In 2008, we went with Virgin, they arranged the package and then we added a Disney Cruise on (direct with dcl), at the end.

The $ was great back then and we stayed at the Yacht Club, all in all it was a great holiday.

I have been looking again at Virgin, but it seems extremely expensive. I then looked doing it separately, but the flights were coming in quite high - we want to go from Manchester.

What in your opinion is the cheapest way to do a trip? We would like to stay in a Disney hotel if we can, neither of us is really that keen on driving in the States.

I know too, there were offers for the Dining Plan, has this finished now, as I can't seem to see it anywhere.

Thanks in advance.

Kate

Hi we have booked with travel city direct they do good deals as have done alot of quote with company's we are staying in port Orleans riverside a moderate hotel that caters for my family of 5 and have got free quick service dining and Disney tickets included flying with virgin been in 2009 and lovely place

You have to look at all options, lots of searching but you might find it difficult so close, many offers have been and gone, £400 fights were around, OKW with 42% off etc.

Free dining is still available with Disney.co.uk look here, search either with or without flights included, usually cheaper to buy your own flights. http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/

It is usually cheaper to book everything separately, rather than go for a package, especially when booking a long way in advance, since you can price everything up separately and don't book until you find a price you are happy to pay.

Since you are looking to go in less than 6 months now, you might be better off with a package if you can find a decent price. If you are looking to stay on-site though, as Wayne says, all the decent offers have finished now. That doesn't mean you can't still find some decent offers but you might have to consider things like flying indirect, staying off-site etc.

As Wayne says, you need to invest a lot of time searching around for deals. Check the airlines' websites daily because you might just get lucky. The cheapest way of booking a Disney hotel is probably to rent points from a DVC member, either through the DVC forums here on the DIS, or through Board sponsor, David's Vacation Club Rentals.

Renting points from an owner off the DIS is something we have done and can be much cheaper than booking direct.

If you are prepared to drive it opens up much more flexibility and opportunity in finding value for money.

I fully appreciate the merits of staying on-site, however driving is safe and relatively easy, just a matter of confidence, plus it gives you so much more choice of accommodation and ease of travelling around also.

The free dining is still on till march I think though I can't find it on the virgin website for some reason.

Thanks for all the help, I have been looking around and putting everything together myself, in fact my head aches with it all.

We are trying to fit in with a cruise at the end of it, so that doesn't make it any easier.

At the moment, I have a few options, but need to do some searching on hotels, we have only ever stayed in the Beach Club, which was very conveninet, although am quite happy to stay elsewhere.

I will let you know the final choices and maybe get your advice on those. usually I am so on top of it, but must admit, I am feeling a bit overwhelmed with all the different aspects!

Thanks.
