What is the best way for 3 of us to get round trip transportation from airport/cruise?
Thanks

You can book a car service. That will run you around $200 r/t. Or you can rent a car. You can rent one way, returning the car at port and then renting again after the cruise, returning it at MCO.
DCL offers a shuttle bus but I find it to be fairly expensive..about $75 pp/rt.

I replied to your post on the cruise board. Disney transfers are $70 pp r/t. A town car would run you about $250 r/t.

We've tried rental car, limo sevice & DCL buses & find DCL the most convenient. If you're staying at the Hyatt the night before, you can just leave your bags in your room & they appear at your stateroom door. pixiedust:

Also if you're flying a participating airline you may qualify for Onboard Airline Check In. On the last full day of your cruise, they deliver your boarding passes & special luggage tags to your stateroom. You just put your tagged bags outside your door the last evening and don't see/touch them until you arrive at your home airport the next day. Just hop on the bus with BPs in hand and hop off, head to gate. So easy & a great way to end a nice cruise!

With a rental car, you might save $30 but you'll have to retrieve your bags from the terminal warehouse area, wait for the rental company shuttle, lug your bags on & off the shuttle, wait at the rental office, cram the bags in your trunk, wait in the long CASH line for tolls, driving is the easy part! :drive: refuel the car, save the receipt to prove it, drop off car, gather belongings & lug bags to terminal, check bags, then head to gate. At some point, this stopped feeling like we were on vacation. :headache:

That's the simplified version. I didn't mention in all of our time waiting for & getting on & off shuttles & in & out of car, ds lost his Nintendo DS. Also our rental car had another rental car park so close, we couldn't open either door enough to get in. (We're not big but neither could my then ds10.) It was literally 5 inches space. Had to wait for office personnel to come out and move the other car. Then we could see lots of damage not noted our our slip. So in we go for a 3rd time to the office. :faint: By the time we got on the road, my parents were probably already at MCO. All that to save a couple bucks? :scratchin No thanks.

We're a family of 4 and I don't mind paying a little more for DCL transfers. To me, it's worth it. :cloud9: $35 pp each way. Doesn't have to be RT.

We like to take a car service TO the port so we can go early and build in a stop for beer & liquor. But then we use DCL's bus transportation back to the airport afterward to take advantage of their airline check-in / boarding pass services (which they will only do for you if you book their transportation). That way they take our bags off the ship too and check them through so we don't see them again until we get to our home airport.:thumbsup2

We've done car service (limos) each cruise. Sets the mood for the trip... Pulling into port in a stretch... Way to go hands down

We enjoy the limo service too. Would love to do the onboard airline check-in but Southwest doesn't participate in that.

We did this for a while too. Kind of the best of both worlds. What transportation co do you like?

Yes it is fun. The 1st 3x we used Happy Limo they upgraded our regular stretch to a huge thing. omg!
Our last experience with them (Apr 2012) was absolutely terrifying. Our driver was moving in slow motion, literally, even just to reach up & scratch his head, but driving 2x faster than any other car on the road. The guys & kids weren't even paying attention but my friend & I were so scared. Getting closer to the port & going over the bridge, we nearly crashed into a truck in front of us, probably within inches of his bumper when I screamed. :scared1: :faint:
He backed off & said he wasn't going to hit the truck. :rolleyes2
I don't know if he was on drugs or maybe had some medical condition but it so scared the crap out of me.

I wrote them a long letter & got a very sincere apology & offer for 1/2 price next time but I passed. I really don't need to be so stressed out on vacation.

If you can ever find a decent fare on a participating airline, I highly recommend it. Even just one way. Once you try it, you won't want to debark any other way. We always take SWA down, but USAirways or AT flying home. I guess AT will soon be swallowed by SWA so we're stuck with USAirways.

We rented a car from Budget. They have a location close to the port and offer free shuttle service to the ship and they will pick you up after the cruise and bring you back to the rental office. The rental cost $40 each way and that included gas.
