Trying to find best way to Fort Wilderness from Turnpike. Mapquest routes us to exit on us 27 to 192, but Expedia routes us to exit at SR 50(winter garden/clermont then SR 535, Reams Rd, Cast Dr, N World drive,Timberline and Wilderness way. Some of these roads say "gate access required"???
Which route would be better and if we took the SR 50 route, can we get through the gates with our reservations. We are pulling a 33ft camper and don't want to get lost or have to turn around. Thanks so much!

Coming south on 535 you will come to (plain) Vista Drive which you can take. Then go left on Bonnet Creek Pkwy. This takes you to Epcot Center Drive which in turn takes you towards Magic Kingdom and the main entrance to Fort Wilderness.

If you took Vista and did not go left on Bonnet Creek, you will reach the Eagle Pines golf course entrance, the security gate, and then Fort Wilderness. But I am not sure, and it may be subject to sudden change, that a "authorized vehicles only" sign might appear. But again, the securty guard might see the trailer and let you through since he would have to come out and help back you up otherwise.

535 to Buena Vista to Community and straight across onto Epcot Center Drive to Magic Kingdom also works.

Those directions are for county road 535 not the familiar state road 535, if you are coming in from the north side I would recomend coming down US27 to 192, The exit is very cleary marked for 192 . 27 is also much less crowded then State road 50. once on 192 take it to world drive, (its about 10 miles on 192) there will be huge signs that say DISNEY WORLD, follow that road up to the toll plaza, then after the toll plaza it will be your first right turn for Fort WIlderness, Fort wilderness will be about 2 miles up on the left side.

Thanks for the quick replys. We will probable stay with the US27 TO 192 Route since it is less crowded.

I agree, 27 to 192 is the way to go--CR 535 is not all that well marked, and Route 50 is a nightmare! It's actually only about 5 miles from the intersection of 192 to World Drive. Be careful as you are exiting from 27 to 192--that ramp turn is much tighter/sharper than it appears to be. We've seen several accidents with vehicles off onto the grassy median or even rolled over because they took it too fast.

Wave at me as you go down 27-- I'm about three miles south of Route 50!

Agree with the 27/192 route.
Highway 50 can be a real headache.
535, Reams Rd, Cast Dr, etc is the back way into MK. Likely you would be stopped by a security guard at the parking lot entrance. The 33' camper might be a dead giveaway you are not a CM. lol
HAVE A GREAT TIME!

Anyone know how many traffic lights there are on 27 between the turnpike and 192?

Not offhand, but if I have time I'll try to count next week. If nothing else I should be able to give you from where you cross route 50 to 192.

One thing to note, if you want this info for your web site it won't be valid for long, they seem to be adding a enw light every other month lately. They just come up out of the blue.
