Hi! We're staying at Pop and have ADRs one evening for dinner at Whispering Canyon. If we take an afternoon break, we'll end up leaving for dinner from our resort. Can anyone tell me the best way to get from Pop to Wilderness Lodge?

TIA!!

Take the MK bus from POP, then either take the boat from MK docks to WL or walk to the Contemporary and take the smaller boat to WL from there. Just be sure to leave about an hour total for the trip. I like to think of the travel time as part of the experience.

We did this a few weeks ago and it took more than an hour. We were actually 5 minutes late. It was no biggie. However, it was not a pleasant experience. The boat is SLOW. And it stops at Ft. Wilderness campgrounds on the way to WL. Also when you come into WL from the back you need to take a hard left once inside. We were standing outside of the food court wondering where to go. There was another family doing the same thing. There is no sign.

do you have a car?

turn right out of the Pop parking lot - then turn right again (at the end of this block) - go under the bridge (535) - at this light go straight.

when this road deadend turn left. stay on this road it will become a road to the WL and Cont - stay in the right lane. turn right at the next light.

sometimes to park you might need your ADR number.

I did this last Dec (Sat 12/10), and it took us 1.5 hrs! We waited at the boat dock for 25 minutes. We ended up being 30 minutes late for our ADR. This Dec, if I have to do the same trip, I will take the Pop-MGM bus and then transfer to the WL bus. That's got to be quicker.

Thanks for all the advice...

To answer one poster, we are at the mercy of the Disney transportation system, for better or worse!

I had been thinking about doing the bus to MK and then the boat, but I was wondering if that might take a while. I don't mind the ride, but DS7 and DD4 might get bored. But, we'll just make it work! I like the idea of taking a bus to the Studios and then one from there to WL, but again I'm not sure of the commuting time. This is my only ADR that is difficult to get to, as all the others are in parks or at CR. But, friends showed us their video of their dinner at WCC and it looks like so much fun for the kids that I think the pain of travel will be worth it.

One follow-up question...someone mentioned that the boat does stop at the campground also? Does this mean that after dinner we could take the boat there and enjoy the campfire activities?

Again, thanks so much for your help...I'm so grateful that I found the Dis and all the wonderful people here!

Yes, you can. Just be sure to get on a boat that is going to FtW next, rather than just having come from there!! Or, you can walk there.....there is path that runs between the two resorts.....it is kinda long.

Have you considered taking a cab? That's what we did in May when we stayed at Pop and ate at WL. It took us about 10 minutes to get there, and it was about $15 each way. Yes, that may seem pricey, but it was definitely better than spending 1+ hours trying to get there! :thumbsup2

Now why didn't I think of that before?!? :thumbsup2
I think that sounds like the easiest way to get there. Coming back we might take Disney transportation, since it won't matter how long that takes, and it would be fun to hop over to the campground for the activities there.

Thanks to all!!! :goodvibes

The MGM idea is very good as well. MGM is honestly around the corner from POP. The MGM -> POP ride is only 5 minutes. You just have to get off and get in line for WL. That ride shouldnt be more then 10-15. Saves you some $$.

Still give yourself extra time, and if you are early you can definetly take time enjoying WL, its a beautiful resort.

Thank you for this! I'll be at POP in Dec. and will have my car and meeting friends for a WISHES Cruise at WL. I know the way through the MK tolls but this way seems a bit easier.

Take the cab!!!!!!!! The worst dinner of my last trip was getting back to POP from WL. Will never, ever do again without a car!
