Best Water Park

Hi - We are staying at the Hard Rock in May and want to visit a water park while we are there. I know that Wet N Wild is the closest, but which water park is the best, Wet N Wild, Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach? My kids are 10 and 12..

Thanks for any advice...

I've been to all three and Blizzard Beach is my Favorite.

Wet n' Wild is ok. It has more slides and stuff, but doesn't have the nice themeing of Blizzard Beach.

Blizzard was also named #2 Waterpark in America last year. That should tell you something.

I've only been to TL- and I'm so hooked on the theme I don't think I'll ever try the others. I truly felt like I was in my own little paradise when I'm there.

Never been to Wet N wild but I would take Typhoon Lagoon any day over BLizzard beach. Way too many stairs to have to climb to get to the rafting rides. We counted 150 + steps. The only way up is either by chairlift (really busy) or walking the steps.

Blizzard Beach is the best for all ages. It is a great park.

You can't beat the theming at Disney's water parks. My kids are 9 & 11 and love both TL and BB.

We go to TL on a day that we just feel like relaxing a bit more, do all the slides first thing in the morning, then spend the afternoon in Castaway Creek and the wave pool. (much better than BB's) The new coaster and swimming with the "sharks" are also good selling points.

We follow the same plan for BB, all slides before it gets busy, then lunch, relaxing and wait in line for our favourite rides again. Teamboat Springs is the best family raft ride we have ever been on. BB is a bit more adventurous, the water slides are longer and more varied.

All depends what your children like to do more.

Love the theming at the Disney WPs BUT it was ruined by the cold water! Unless you go in the real hot season beware that, at least for us, the water temperature was not enjoyable yet we felt we had to stay as the day was paid. Wet N' Wild has all heated pools but no theme. At least on that day I would have preferred the heat over any theme.

BB and TL over Wet N Wild........

BB:
1)great snow/winter theme
2)Summet Plummet...longest, fastest slide for thrill seekers
3)Teamboat Springs....BEST family raft ride

TL:
1)better than BB for shaded areas to get out of the sun. Really pretty, relaxing park
2)BIG wave pool
3)shark reef snorkel tank for something a little different !
4)has the new Slush and Gusher slides which are way fun

I also feel that the disney parks will have more of a family atmosphere over Wet N Wild (I've been to all 3).

The disney parks are definitely nicer but last year I went to Wet-n-Wild and thought they had better slides (for older kids). I prefer the Disney parks overall but for a day, W-N-W is great and very close.

If you don't have a rental car go with Wet N Wild. I think your hotel has a shuttle and it's a reasonable cab ride.

BB has better thrill slides but TL has nice variety.

We love, love, love TL, but have only gone in the warmer months. We HATED Wet N Wild -- stayed for less than an hour. I felt like I was in some horrible 80's nightmare of a park.

It may not have "theming" but Wet & Wild has some great rides. My teenage son thought the disco H20 was the best ride he'd ever done at a water park. We spent the better part of a day and had a good time. My husband was not feeling real well but we got there early found a table that was shaded and he spent most of the day there. The kids all had a good time. We also were doing the Universal parks and Sea World so we bought tickets that included US,IOA,SW, and W&W.

It sure is! We really didn't enjoy the park as much as we should have largely due to the water temperature. It has left us with no desire to visit again if there is even a chance of cooler weather.

Actually, the water temperature at both Disney waterparks is maintained at somewhere between 78º and 82º farenheit which is normally quite comfortable if not a bit too warm to be refreshing sometimes.

The only exception to this would be the shark reef attraction at Typhoon Lagoon. Because of sea life in the attraction, the salt water is kept cooler.

Has anyone gone to the waterpark when it was cold say feb or Nov?

I would like to do this with DD11 but I hate cold pools.

The heaters must have been broken when we visited as it was no where near 78-82. I would believe 70 as the other poster stated. We've never run into that at W&W. If they were open the pools were warm - sometimes warmer than the air.

We will be in Orlando, the week of APril 17. We are also considering
TL that week. Is it so crowded that week it would be unpleasant??
