We're in Disney now and thinking of going to a water park this week. Wondering your thought on Typhoon Lagoon vs Blizzard Beach for an 8 year old (girl, pretty petite but she is a little over 48 inches) and almost 6 year old son who is either 48 inches or just under without shoes...will e interesting to see when they measure him! Which water park would you recommend? Thanks!!

We took my oldest 2 boys when they were 8 and 6 to Blizzard Beach and they loved it. At the time, they were not very strong swimmers and we had them wear life jackets, but they had a great time. We did the lazy river, some of the smaller slides, Teamboat Springs and my oldest even did the ski patrol training camp. Sorry, we haven't been to Typhoon Lagoon, so I can't compare but hopefully someone else will see your thread and post.

Both are great. Can you describe in general terms what might work better for your kids? Meaning timid versus adventurous? Strong or weak swimmer?

48 inches will only matter on more thrilling slides. At TL, that's Crush n Gusher and the Cowabunga body speed slides - everything else is for all sizes. At BB, the 48 inch requirement will matter for 3 speed slides - the two body slides and one tube slide.

Both have lots to do for all ages and sizes. BB has fewer all age body slides, but has a great tween area with in-between kiddie and adult slides. TL has the great wave pool and the fish tank reef, but fewer tween slides.

Both have a great toddler area.

Vote for Blizzard. Even the 2 yr old can go on the family raft ride and it is REALLY fun for everyone.

Thanks everyone! Our kids are decent swimmers (passed the deep water test at our local pool) and pretty adventurous. Will our almost 6 year old be able to use the Ski Patrol Camp area or is he too young? He is pretty tall and sturdy for his age...actually weighs a few pounds more than his older sister ;)
Thanks!

Yes, he can play there. No height requirements.

They might have lots of fun in the TL wave pool then.

There's no wrong decision here. Both are fun. Maybe let the kids look at a map and decide?

A tiebreaker could be the 2 year old. TL's toddler area is better for the more timid. BB is better if you toddler wants to be a big kid.
