I have fine, thin hair and mousse is the only thing that seems to give me SOME body. I've been using John Frieda in a light blue bottle and my stylist just recommended Redken Guts. What do you use and swear by?

I have the same hair-type as you. I have used the John Frieda Sheer Volume mousse before, and it was ok - but had a tendency to give me the "greasies" - never fun. Sick of spending tons of money on products that usually fall short, I decided to try Dove mousse and hairspray, and so far so good. I gives me some volume and it feels good in my hair.

Now, I will say that my favorite FAVORITE has been Rusk Thickr mousse and hairspray - but it's been hard for me to find around here lately. I should check online, actually. Best stuff ever, really. :)

I have used Redken Guts and it's okay. It's really not quite enough for me.

Right now, I use a combination of Cibu "Mousse Lee" Volumizing Mousse (it's a foam), and some Graham Webb Thickening Foam (it's in a pale green can). That Graham Webb stuff works wonders even on its own.

The Cibu is probably going to be hard to find as it is the house brand of one of our local salon chains in the DC area. I don't think it's sold anywhere else.

Another one to try is Bedhead's Queen for a Day. It's works well at first but my hair does fall with it.

I have a lot of hair, but it has zero volume. I use Nexxus mousse and it works well.

I know that you asked for a mousse, but I had to come on here and tell you about Full Thickening Cream by Living Proof. You can get it at Sephora and QVC.... and online too. Maybe some other places... I get it at Sephora now, but found it first on QVC... I was a skeptic when I first saw it, but my hair is so fine and thin (to the point where I had to start using Rogaine for woman under drs orders) that I was willing to try anything!!!

This stuff is absolutely amazing!!! It is a creamy liquid that you put into your hair when it is wet and then blow dry your hair as you normally would. The volume that you get is nothing short of a miracle IMHO... People have commented on my hair since I have started using it over and over again...

I agree & I just got the shampoo & Cond. Besides this stuff I prefer a spray gel for my fine hair. but Guts is good.

Believe it or not, I like Frutise by Garnier. Curl Scrunch, spay on curl gel, etc. And they are CHEAP.

eBay is my best friend, I'll have to check it out.

Again, I can try eBay for the more difficult ones. :)

I DID really like the way the Nexxus worked but wasn't crazy about the smell. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't good.

Great, I'll look into it.

Thanks so much everyone for sharing! I'll look at other reviews online for all these products and get some to try.

I do not use any Suave shampoos or conditioners, but tried their super cheap volume mousse . It's in a purple can. ($1.00), and it works great. I don't have thin hair, but for the price maybe you'd like to try it. :)

My mom has super fine hair and LOVES the Big Sexy hair line-- she has everything, the shampoo/conditioner, hairspray, and the mousse. She swears by it. They're pretty expensive, but you can luck out at Marshalls sometimes.

I like Guts and I also really like Jonathan Product volumizing mousse. I have a can of Dove mousse in my cabinet, too, that I use occasionally. It works well for a less expensive alternative.

Just wanted to add on to this thread. Yesterday I was at Sephora and saw the Living Proof Full Thickening Cream. I bought the small container and it was $14.00.

I used some this morning and it didn't really help me. I actually have a lot of hair, it is just very soft so maybe I don't need "thickening" as much as I need something that makes it not so soft.

Anyway, this cream didn't work as well as my combo of Cibu Mousse and Graham Webb Root Volumizer. And the smell was very, very strong. My daughter even asked me if I was using a new deoderant or something. So I had to go wash it out.

Take it back. $14 in your pocket is better than in Sephora's if the product didn't work.

I was thinking about doing just that!

I think the product probably is good but it's just not for me. I wold have tried working with it a little more (maybe using more) but the smell was just way to strong for me.

My hair is so fine you can almost see my scalp, Great clips has a root boost that helps a lot for $10.00 and I am trying a sample of big sexy hair and I am loving it so far.

I have that type of hair too! I have found and in love with Paul mitchells
root booster!!! works wonders!!!! I have the fullest hair ever when I use it.

You might want to try a root lifting product too. I have fine hair that is somewhat thick but not overly thick and root lifters help give me more body if I wear my hair more straight. My hair is naturally curly but I can blow dry it straight pretty easily when it is shorter.
