best value souvenir

For me, I get the most value out of the refillable mug. If you look at the cost of travel coffee mugs in the gift shops, they cost the same or more than the refillable mug. I use the refillable mug throughout my stay to get plenty of cocoa and Coke, then I use it at home for my morning coffee every day.

The souvenirs that I consider having the most value are the ones I use often at home. For example, kitchen supplies like measuring spoons and plates are not the cheapest souvenirs, but I feel I get a lot of value from them since I use them often.

I too feel the refillable mugs are the best souvenir. I use my Typhoon Lagoon mug everyday here at home :-)

What are the best value souvenirs at the parks, downtown Disney and port Orleans riverside?

I love getting the box o' Mr. Potatohead costume pieces at DTD. It's my favorite desk toy.

The drink mugs would be a close second.

I agree about the mugs, but I also really like the calendar you can order from photopass. You can combine photopass photos and also your own photos and there are layouts that let you put more than one photo per page. Last time I looked it was $25.

I like Christmas ornaments. Years of use. I have an entire tree filled with ornaments collected from different vacations.

This! We get ornaments from every vacation - it makes putting up the tree even more fun!!!

We do this too. We get one from everywhere we vacation. The more ornaments on a tree the merrier I say. I like mugs too but more tends not to be merrier, just more clutter.

We like to get magnets when we travel. They're cheap, don't take up a lot of space, and make a nice display of places we've been on the side of the fridge.

The best value will really depend on what you will use the most. For me, that is hoodies. I love my hoodies. I get a new one each trip and I wear them almost daily. I am always cold and DH is always hot so I even wear them in the summer when the AC is on.

They have little plastic cats and owls for good luck in Japan at Epcot for about $4 each. Each color corresponds with a different good luck theme ie health or happiness

I would definitely say the refillable mugs. We haven't been to WDW in over 4 years and I use my refillable mug almost every day.

I think it really depends on what has value to you. I almost bought a watch there but didn't. I didn't want to spend the money for it, but I regretted it. It would have been something I would still be wearing so I definitely would have gotten my money's worth.

My DS's (4) favorite would be the Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom cards/Map. He still plays with them at home and our trip was in August. They were free at the Magic Kingdom.

for us, it is the sillhouete cutout portraits of the kids. don't know if i spelled sillhouette correctly...:confused3

Christmas ornaments or magnets. I use magnets frequenly so they serve a purpose not just something to take up space! Christmas ornaments are also something that we use and serve a purpose. I hate to dust, so stuff that needs to be dusted is out of the question!

Mugs! I also like my popcorn container, we use it for movie nights. I like magnets too and we get ornaments. The things I use that reminds you of the magic!

I'm a big fan of key chains. They are inexpensive and every time I go out to my car I get a smile on my face when I click the unlock button because I get a glimpse of my Disney keychain! Recently I toyed with the idea of getting one of the new Disney car air freshners they sell - like a turkey leg or a mickey ears ice cream bar... I didn't buy one, but I wished I had! It would be fun to see it dangling from my rear view mirror! Maybe next time! :thumbsup2

When our kids were younger, they were into the pressed pennies. Even with buying the book to store them in, it's a pretty inexpensive way to say yes to what they're asking for. True, it's not used at home, so I can't say it's valuable for later but some things kids ask for would be so much $$ then end up at the bottom of the toy box in a week or 2.

I do like my jackets & coffee mug. Mugs are sometimes hard to judge if they'll be a good value. I bought one on Castaway Cay in 2007 that's a little scratched up but still has its orginal picture of Mickey & Minnie on a beach chair. I bought one in Aug 2011 saying Polynesian on it and the image has been 100% washed off for several months now. No one would ever know it was once more than just a plain, beige mug. :sad2:

I buy a watch every time we go anywhere Disney (DL, WDW, Cruise). I've bought a couple of more expensive ones over the years, but mostly I pick up ones in the $35 range. I wear them every day and love them. The cheap watches usually start looking a bit worn after a year or so, and it would cost almost as much to replace the band and battery as it costs to replace the whole watch, so I generally just toss them and replace with a new cheap one.

It's nice to look down at my wrist each day and remember the trip I bought it :)
