been to disney a few times but all ways stayed off site but in 2012 going back with my partners friend husband and 2 sons and are thinking ove staying onsite we have been looking at the all star resorts or pop century but was was woundering which is the best and if the extra money they charge u for staying at all star movies is worth it.

What dates are you planning to go because some dates have free DDP for delux hotels and Qdp FOR mod hotels. It would be worth checking this out as it can save quite a lot of money. For eg we are booked to go to OKW (delux class) for 2 weeks in july for 4 adults for £1638 this includes DDP (per person 1 quick counter meal and one table service dinner per day along with 1 snack and soft drinks with meals and at hotel ( refilable mug)). I think it was about £1190 music and sports - £1302 for pop and £1540 for movies for the hotels on there own with no food. and I know that we will spend much more than £448 for 2 weeks worth of food on site for 4 adults. And we also get a delux standard hotel.

what dates and how many adults and children are there and I will check out if free dining and discounts are on

there 4 adults and 2 kids we have looked at a few ove the other resorts but i think my partners friends likes the look ove all stars coze ove the themes

The prices below are with completeorlando (a little less than disney uk - but I am using them for the 1st time others have found them good)

the offer is still on but it works out more for you because you will either need 2 sep studios or a 2 bed villa

2 bed villa at OKW or SSR is £2940 this includes DDP

2 x studios = 3108 incl DDP

2 X ROOM AT mods (por/pofq) =£2716 this includes QDP (2 counter services meals and 2 snacks pp per day )

2 rooms at music/sports =£1540
2 rooms at pop = £1708

2 rooms at movies = £1904.

So its down to if between you all you would spend more than £1176 on food between all of you.

I have stayed at the all stars movies and my kids (then 8 and 12) liked it but inside it is of a similar to a travel lodge. They were not so wild about the music or sports, but they did think that pop looked good (but never been). We liked the resort feel of POR (but had issues with room cleaning may have been one off as over xmas and temp staff).

It may also be worth looking at thomascookstyle online as they were getting some good prices for Aug when we were looking but not for july when we wanted to go. (not thomascook web site only on the style one)

just had a quick look at the package hol prices and they are are coming in about £5730- £6000 for mod hotels with QDP.

about £4400 for all stars no dining

Alternatively you could book All Star or Pop throught the USA site and still get free dining. It won't be released until early next year though.

The All Stars are ok, Pop is "shinier" as it is newer but we found it much busier as each of the 10 buildings has an extra floor.

All Star Sports gets the bus first if the resorts are sharing and it's a compact resort so not as much walking. Movies will obviously have the more recognisable decor and Music is pleasant but the buildings towards the back are a long walk from the food court and bus stops.

Otherwise the new hotel opens next year :confused3

ETA Only UK charges extra for Movies, it should be the same price.

flynn is right in saying that the US site does offer the movie resorts at the same price as the others, however, it doesn't always cost less it sort of depends on the $ rate. At the moment thats in our favour again but a few years ago it had dropped so low that the US sites worked out a good bit more so you have to gamble on what the dollar will do by next year. Another thing to think about is that this year US disney has only put the free dinning out until the end of March 2012 in other years this has been released until the end of summer in the previous Aug not sure why its diff this year so again it may be a risk to hold off if you deff want free dinning but if you decied on the All stars or POP then its prob worth the gamble to hold off until next year to see if free dining US is extended. I have never gone during halloween so not sure if it ever gets booked out the way Xmas does, It may be worth asking over on the resorts thread before you decied to wait.

have fun planning
