we still need to book a hotel for the DL portion of our trip.
we'll probably skip the rental car to save a little money.

2 years ago, we stayed at the Hampton Inn on Harbor Blvd near Outback Steakhouse + Red Robin.
we normally like to walk everywhere, so we considered that to be sort of within walking distance to DLR. (20 min away at New Yorker pace ;) )

however, we're thinking maybe this trip we want to stay just a little bit closer to DLR. the walk up Harbor Blvd is doable, but it might make for a more leisurely trip if we don't have to speedwalk to/from the park everyday. :p

there just are way too many off-site hotels/motels nearby DLR. i'm really not familiar with any of them, so i need some advice.

anyway, ideally we want to stay at a place that has the following qualities:
1) indoor corridors
2) clean + well maintained
3) clean decent-sized bathroom w/ good lighting (we have stayed in too many places that have cramped toilet/shower rooms w/ horrible lighting. ick.)
4) odor-free non-smoking rooms
5) as close to Disneyland as Hampton Inn, or closer
6) room rates $79/night or less
7) relatively quiet location (don't want too much road/highway noise)

does anyone have any recommendations for favorite hotels that fit the above qualities?

oh, btw, i've read rave reviews of the Hojo on another board. but that board also is a sponsor of them?, which makes me skeptical of the rave reviews. is the Hojo really that nice? i've had bad experiences w/ other Hojo's in the past, so that's why i'm so skeptical.

The HoJo is a good place to stay. There are a couple different Disneyland sites where people praiser HOJO. It is not a spectacular place but it is clean, comfortable and close and has a great price most of the time. There are 7 buildings at HoJo. Each has interior corridors and most rooms have balconies. I have stayed a few times and really like it.
The next closest place with interior corridors, that I can think of is The Portofino Inn and Suites which is on the corner of Katella and Harbor so is much closer than the Hampton Inn. I have not stayed here but it has had fairly good reviews.
Just down Katella the other way and only half a block from Harbor are to more places with interior corridors. The Holiday Inn Express and the Ramada Plaza (formerly the Four Points Hotel).
A bit farther away but still closer than the Hampton I have heard good reviews of the Coast Hotel ( formerly the Westcoast Anaheim). Of course there is the Marriott and the Hilton which many people have had come up on Priceline. I actually prefer HoJo because it is such an easy walk to the parks.
Here are a couple links so you can locate them.

I just booked a non-smoking room at HoJo Plaza Inn in Sept. for $74/nite AAA rate. Special rate (not AAA) was $79/nite.

I recently stayed at the Holiday Inn Buena Park - they have a free shuttle to disneyland, which is only a 7 minute drive and they are down the street from Knotts (but also have a free shuttle there, too) -- also close to the Wax Museum and Wild Bills.

Hotel was just remodeled and we stayed in this cute kids "suite" - it was a bit small for me - very small room, not really a suite, but the kids had a bunk bed and their own tv, video games and vcr -they had a blast.

you should check it out: www.hibuenapark.com

May be less expensive than staying in Anaheim.

Have fun! Good Luck
