We will be taking our first trip to Universal the second week of January and are interested in the new quick service dining plan especially if we can use the snacks over the 2 days we will be there. Where would be the best places to eat and what snacks would give you the best value. Also, is butterbeer included as a beverage? Thanks for your help

Eating at 3 Broomsticks would be a good value because the average CS meal there costs around $14 and the quick service meal plan is $18 and change.

We were just there and you can carry over snack credits. Butter Beer is counted as a snack, I believe, not a bev. For meals, 3 Broomsticks or Thunder Falls Terrace, both have platters in the $14 range, with roasted chicken/ribs, etc. Also, I am told that the seafood platter at Restaurant Row in USF Springfield (Simpsons) area counts, that would also be a good value as far as cost is concerned. For snacks, we loved that the bakeries participate, and all the pastries including the cheesecake slices (price @ $6) count as a snack, too. The cheesecake is probably the biggest value for a snack credit costwise; I did that first day and a chocolate croissant for breakfast on the second day for my 2 snack credits.

We are not big breakfast eaters for the croissant for breakie is a great idea!
If we purchase it for 2 days all the unused snacks carry over to day 2 right?

When we were there over Thanksgiving, everything unused carried over it was really easy. I think the most expensive meal we had was the seafood platter at Krusty Burger. I believe that with the drink was almost $18. The TM encouraged us to purchase the meal plan because for the same price we got the meal, snacks and drinks.

If I buy 3 meal plans (1 for each of us) can I use 2 one day and one the next? Or do they have to be used in 1 day?
I'm not sure if we'd use them all the 1st day or not.

Each meal plan is on a separate card. They are not pooled like WDW. you can purchase what you need per day.

Yes, you can carry over as much as needed, as well, according to what we were told and what we experienced.

Just a quick FYI: we were at Universal yesterday and thy amended the quick service plan slightly. They increased the price by one dollar and removed one of the snack benefits. Bummer, still an ok deal, but not nearly as good as it was.

On a side note: we had a great visit to UNIVERSAL!

Wow, you are correct.
I looked online yesterday and it was $18.99 and listed 2 snacks.
I just looked now and its $19.99 and 1 snack.

Its not such a deal anymore. Thanks for posting this.
Considering the majority of QS Entree's around the parks are $8-$9 mark.
Drinks are about $2.49-$2.59 (x2=$5) by the looks of the menu's.
That leaves $6-$7 left over for the 1 snack.
So its really not saving you anything!
Unless you go with the $14.99 or so rib/chicken platter at 3 broomsticks.. Thats the only way you will come out a tiny bit ahead at all.
