WE currently own 150 SSR pts with a December Use year as that was what was available when we booked direct with Disney.

We're looking to add on (50-75 pts at VWL or BCV), but are a little confused as to whether we should have the same use year or something else. We only visit Florida every 18 months - 2 years.

We plan to mainly go either December or July/August time when we go.

Thanks :)

If you do your 50-75 pts add-on through DVC, you won't be able to choose another Use Year.

If you press them you will be able to. I have 2 use years and added on just last august. My guide wanted to give me the same use year but I persisted.

It is definately easier to have the same year for booking and banking purposes, but if you plan on going in December on one trip (with your current points) and July/August on your next trip (with new points) it makes sense to at least consider a different use year. If you choose a June use year, this would give you some breathing room in case you have to cancel your August trip, you would still be able to bank the points. In your current situation, if you scheduled an august trip and then cancled later, this gives you more time to either use the points or bank them. This use year would also give you until January to bank your points from an aborted December trip as well. (Of course the 30 day rule applies to all of this).

Good luck in your decision.

But with a different use year your "add on" has to be a seperate contract with a minimum of 160 points (if you go directly through DVC).
